Who are the best FPL captain options for Double Gameweek 25?

Bruno Fernandes (£11.7m) and Cristiano Ronaldo (£12.5m) have emerged as the two outstanding candidates for the Double Gameweek 25 captaincy, with Manchester United preparing to take on Southampton and Brighton and Hove Albion at Old Trafford.

The question for many is how to choose between them and, of course, are there any single Gameweek options we must make sure we do not overlook.

First, we will assess the fallout of the Double Gameweek 25 captain poll, before then analysing the best options, Rate My Team (RMT) and the Premier Fantasy Tools ratings ahead of Saturday’s 11:00 GMT deadline.

THE CAPTAIN POLL

Bruno Fernandes is the leader of the captain poll in Double Gameweek 25, with 39.88% of total votes from our users at the time of writing.

Meanwhile, team-mate Cristiano Ronaldo is in second place, backed by 20.7%. The forward got his rest against Burnley in Gameweek 24, though further minute management can’t be completely ruled out, which we’ll discuss below.

Mohamed Salah (£12.8m) occupies third place with 12.09%, followed by Kevin De Bruyne (£12.2m) and David de Gea (£5.3m), with 7.79% and 7.33% respectively.

    Salah or Bruno is doing my head in. Missed out on Bruno last haul (was so close to bringing him in but changed my mind last minute) and don’t want to get bitten again but ML rival, of whom I am 90 points clear, will probably captain Salah. Salah in for KDB would cost 4 points too.

    DGW 26 Chip rethink

    Thanks to everyone who gave great and much-needed feedback on my left-field thinking on Free-Hitting in 26 as opposed to the mainstream thinking of triple-captaining Salah. Here is my FH team for 26:

    Ramsdale: H Brentford H Wolves
    T-A-A: H Norwich H Leeds
    Cancelo: H Spurs
    Digne: H Watford
    Salah(C): H Norwich H Leeds
    Jota: H Norwich H Leeds
    Saka: H Brentford H Wolves
    ESR: H Brentford H Wolves
    Bowen: H Newcastle
    Weghorst: A Brighton H Spurs
    King: A Villa H Watford

    Bench: Foster - Laporte - Liveramento - Antonio

    It means the Triple captaincy is saved for another week while the gw25 squad moves forward to 27 with 2 frees to use. 8 players will have a DGW in 26 with this FH. I’m wary of using the FH in 36 which is expected to be a very big DGW as European places and the relegation battle may already be sorted that late in the season although I concede I could be wrong. What’s your thinking please? Any feedback would be appreciated.

        Good point Biggsy! Maybe Lacazette in place of ESR then? I think there’s real merit in going with the FH next week. Means the triple captaincy can be played on a player later who may not be captained by many others. Who are you considering for your FH?

          Agreed. The only downside is the the prospects for a triple captain aren't great after this.

            Yes fair point but I’ve always subscribed to the thinking that a Triple Captaincy chip is more potent when played on a player who may won’t be captaining as opposed to a player who will be captained in any game week. I’m also thinking that if Mo does real damage that week at least it can be offset with having t least 8 double game weekers playing.

    On WC. Who do you think is the single most glaring omission? I have both free hits, BB and TC in pocket. TC 26, FH 30, figure out the rest when other fixtures settled. Only need one FT to get a full 11 out in 27. Lots of flexibility to move to Son, KDB (unlikely), Foden. Who am I going to regret not having?
