FPL Daily: Smith Rowe set to miss England friendly

We round up the key Fantasy Premier League (FPL) talking points of the day in FPL Daily, a series that services weekdays where there is no press conference round-up or Premier League match.

SMITH ROWE LATEST

Gareth Southgate has revealed that Emile Smith Rowe (£5.7m) is likely to miss England’s clash against Switzerland this weekend after sitting out training on Friday.

However, the Three Lions boss insisted the issue is ‘nothing too serious’.

“Emile (Smith Rowe) didn’t train today, so I would think unlikely he’ll be involved tomorrow. Nothing too serious but we’ll check to see whether he can be involved.” – Gareth Southgate on Emile Smith Rowe

Bukayo Saka (£6.7m), meanwhile, also made the squad but had to drop out after testing positive for Covid.

“It was a shame to lose Bukayo (Saka) but we’re back in those moments with Covid where there is a spike in the country and we’ve had the same.” – Gareth Southgate on Bukayo Saka

MARTINELLI RETURNS

Gabriel Martinelli (£5.3m) made his senior debut for Brazil on Thursday in their 4-0 World Cup qualifying win against Chile.

The Arsenal youngster missed his team’s win at Villa Park in Gameweek 30 through illness, but was introduced in the 75th minute last night for his first senior cap.

Three Premier League regulars started the game – Alisson (£6.0m), Thiago Silva (£5.7m) and Fred (£4.9m) – with Philippe Coutinho (£7.5m) and Richarlison (£7.5m) coming off the bench to score the final two goals.

Fabinho (£5.4m) and Bruno Guimaraes (£4.9m), meanwhile, also featured as second-half substitutes.

    A little context, USA vs Mexico at altitude. Pretty even match late into it and both teams are dragging to end of a nil/nil match. Coach brings in Gio Rayna who has been out for the year with injury.

    I’d love it if Man Utd could somehow get top 4 still. It used to be that their fans were everywhere and nowadays they’re almost hard to find. Would be good to see them make a come back

      Makes sense to get a Burnely player for the coming weeks. Heard they could have 3 doubles in the coming 5 weeks or so. Even if they blank you'll get some appearance points.

      So I would say it's either Pope or Weg. Jiminez to Weg looks good to free up some cash

    Best pick out of those? Was leaning toward Havertz + Hwang

      both if you want to protect rank. I wouldnt mind dropping one of them based on fixtures if there is a potential to move up in rank. Obviously both can score against anyone but fixture-wise, I think Kane has better set of games till end than Salah.

      I'd say both to be honest. Both still have something to play for and kane could potentially still put in a golden boot charge if he bangs a couple of hatricks soon.

      You could make a case to drop Salah for a few weeks if you think he might not play 90 at Watford because city and utd to follow but I'm sticking with him personally

          Morning guys. Thanks for the repost Holmes, I'm sure there's a few more potential entrants around (King Kohli, where'd you go..?). Doesnt matter too much if some are a bit late - as long as they have a team already they can join the league & bring any pts earned with them.

          Quite a big shakeup this year with mega auction & 2 new teams. Even established sides like MI/CSK are going to be fielding some unfamiliar faces so we'll all have a bit of adjusting to do

          Haven't even checked it out yet. My suggestion would be to go with all established players. But I also know that they would be too expensive to actually fit into an 11. I hope the deadline is not 90 minutes 😉

      I dont really think thats the way to go tbh. Maybe a revision of pricing of forwards (all cheaper, except a very select few) which makes it easier to play 441/352 & have decent forwards on the bench..?
