    I made a comment last night that got lost in the mire but I think it's worth repeating and expanding on...

    "Since leaving for the ANC last January, Mo Salah has played 38 competitive games, i.e the equivalent of a full premier league campaign and has scored 12 goals. That's James Ward Prowse territory."

    Here's how a small selection of how some other players have done in their last 38 competitive games for club and country...

    18 Goals KDB
    18 Goals Zaha
    17 Goals James Maddison
    16 Goals Raheem Sterling
    13 Goals Luis Diaz
    12 Goals Ikay Gundogan
    12 Goals JWP!

    There's obviously some flaws in this 38 game count but the equivalent of a 100% appearances in a full premier league campaign is a reasonable enough sample size and it doesn't paint a pretty picture for Salah owners (of which I am one). I've also commented in the past that opposition teams seem to have found a way of nullifying him to a large extent nowadays and even despite himself, Bournemouth managed to lock him out.

    Salah will continue to score goals that's for sure but he is NOT worth 13m anymore and he's effectively become a very expensive millstone around us owners necks. If the FPL had an evolving handicap system similar to horse racing, the assessor would be dropping him to 11.5m at the very, very least, especially after yesterday. That's 1.5m+ down the drain and personally I'd rather use that money to spend wisely elsewhere.

      Still saw enough yesterday to keep him for now. Could have easily had a hat trick on another day, if he wasn't getting chances I'd be more worried but I just feel that goals are very imminent

      Majority of the FPL content writers recommended Salah captain this week and last. Which heavily influences managers in their decision as most just follow what a website advises.
      His previous history as a FPL GOAT was the reason they recommended him as captain. That's just a lazy narrative.
      If they all advised to captain Halaand this week most would have captained him.
      Too much FPL content on the web isn't good for the game, stop independent thinking.

          Halaand's stats were better going into this game and from an overall eye test perspective, Halaand was a better choice.
          Managers didn't opt for it because the majority were influenced by Salah's fixtures forgetting he hasn't been playing well for months.

            Sorry but this is outcome bias nonsense

            Define playing well - he put up 1.5xg alone yesterday

            For him thats 2 goals in the majority of times

            He has also scored in 2/3 games coming into this week and Bou are terrible

            Every single predictor was correct with Salah being the best captain pre deadline

            Palace are also a top 6 defence on all metrics and have held City scoreless twice last year

            Again outcome bias nonsense

      This is a fair breakdown. However, what do you do with the money especially while Liverpool have decent fixtures? I can't see a more secure route to points at the moment and while that's the case, he stays.

          Good luck with that.

          The games top scorer over the past 5 years who is currently not playing well ( he is currently top of all midifielders for underling stats with the highest xgi from week 1 -4)

          in comparision Odegaard and Diaz who both got points are massively overperforming

          I wonder who we should bet on being more likely to score points from here onwards

          The guy with the higest xGI which is consistently the best predictor of longterm points or the people massively over-performing?

          And no Dusan Tadic was never an xGi monster and top of these metrics in the PL

          Every well run club (Brighton , Liverpool, City etc) are using these same underlying data to make their teams and we still have people on here going - hey buy the people who got the points last week and sell the people who didnt

      It’s a good post and stats don’t lie but I still fully expect mo to be up there with Kane haaland for golden boot. Maybe he’s a bit tired but he’ll get a break at World cup. I know maybe feel like he’s done a Bruno/AUBAMYANG; plays amazing gets a ginormous new contract at £350k-400k per week then form slightly drops off. I personally am leaving him in season but I’m loving that so many others are looking to dump him

      I agree to an extent, but Bournemouth didn't "lock him out" at all. He had 2 sitters that he missed, could have had a penalty and had other chances too. He had the highest xG out of every player on the pitch yesterday.

      And Salah is underperforming with the best midfield stats in the league

        Thanks, I don't feel Salah is worth the 13mil this year and Diaz seems to be getting chances and taking them. 2 Pool attack too much? I have changed the team and got a 4.5 mid to avoid benching issues

    Yesterday I ate my own words and did early transfers Kane/Zinchenko ➡ Haaland/Saliba.

    I would be priced out if both of them rose in price and I want them on my team. I've been defending Wilo since GW1 and advised him to 100 others, but never actually bought him. There's no way he's losing a place in the starting XI because this boy is simply to good. Oleks could be out for 2 games which is an issue in such tight schedule and I'd have to play Williams in his place.

    Erling is a world class striker and settled in (too) quickly. I didn't start with him because I didn't expect 7 G/A straightaway and I thought Kane can match him. I can now easily admit that I was wrong. I know he may not start all City's games, but as others have said plenty of times, he can still score off the bench. If Conte never said Harry would be rotated, I'd might still stick with him though. For this reason and Zinchenko's injury, I felt like these transfers made sense. It's not like I bought Maupay and Maguire for my fantasy team, but two of the best young players in the world who are amazing FPL picks as well.

      Good moves with fair reasoning, and fair reasoning for your initial picks. I started with Haaland as I expected he'd start well enough but I certainly didn't expect he'd settle so quickly, even ignoring the actual chances he's finished the number of chances he's gotten has been amazing, and he's one of the most explosive players around as evidenced yesterday, he'll be well worth a hold during the weeks where rotation is strife. Saliba was arguably my only good punt for the start of the season, been lucky of course with the attacking returns but he's been amazing value.

      No doubt your team can look strong with 13.0 taken out and spread but what about those weeks when everyone captains salah and he bags 3 or 4? Personally I’m leaving him in to go along with my haaland kane Jesus but I’m happy to see so many taking salah out

              Obviously it would have been nice to bank one FT but Walker is quite honedtly the most boring player anyone can own and City will not keep as many clean sheets as last season.

              Andreas should be on your bench. He is a poor UTD reject. Play Trippier instead.
