We at Fantasy Football Scout are saddened by the passing of Queen Elizabeth II.

We’re aware that not all of you will be affected by the events in the United Kingdom on Thursday afternoon but as a mark of respect for those who are, we will be suspending our content for the time being.

Understandably, there is a great deal of uncertainty over the immediate sporting schedule and we will also be awaiting further guidance from the Premier League on whether (or when) this weekend’s planned fixtures will take place.

Will the transfers freeze? I have 1 FT, expect to setill have 1 FT for next GW even though FPL might set it to 2?

Sound. Still 1 FT next week. Hopefully they'll get the Euro games done midweek. More predictable PL lineups then same for next FPL GW

Absolutely. This decision doesn't benefit anyone, and 99% of people simply do not care about the Queen.

It's a huge PR own goal from the PL and it's completely needless.

Show some class please. I personally am not a believer in hereditary monarchy either, nor am I personally affected by the news. But millions are. No matter your personal opinion of the monarchy, Queen Elizabeth II was rightly and justifiably admired and adored. Her passing means much more than any sporting occasion.

Sad that they have to go to these lengths to give the impression the death has a signifant part in normal people's lifes. I'd say if they don't give a bank holiday, they will lose interest of 90% of public

Estimated that through tourism, the Royal Family brings in around £19 billion a year to the UK economy. To many people overseas, the RF is synonymous with Britain.

Given how we don't produce enough energy, food, or anything really, we need all the cash inflows we can get. Without such inflows, watch the pound's value tumble even further, and the cost of imports with it.

They’re not exactly doing meet and greets though are they tourists come for the palace or the castle, not to shake hands and have a chat. Whether they’re there or not makes no odds on tourism, if there is a drop off because they’re not there anymore it’ll be made up for what we would no longer have to pay to fund their insane lives

Some of us are old enough to remember the Ajax cleaning powder TV commercials of the 1970s.

"Powers out stains" was one tagline. Hopefully applies for when the Dutch Masters engages with the statues in Liverpool's defence.

I remember them. This Ajax team are no masters though. But the Dutch lad at the back has gotten complacent and pompous and Trent has never been a good defender.

what a nonsense. *all* the fixtures being off mean that the impact on FPL is relatively modest (not nothing) but the real issue is for all the people who'd booked travel, accommodation, etc, and especially for people who, one way or another, partly depend on the football to make a living.

Given the extra compression of fixtures due to the Champions League and farcical World Cup, it's going to take them ages to find a slot to rearrange them, isn't it?

Doesn't seem wise to plan for GW9 when there's a chance GW9 could be called off too.

State funeral was thought to be on her day of passing +10 days (next Sun), and reckon fixtures would've got postponed for that.

However reported it may be on Monday instead. But then, would games still be postponed in any case?

If so, then it's a 2 week international break and if anything happens to players then (essentially the next month) you'll have spunked your WC on a fixture list stating a month's time.

I am not a royalist but I grew up when pomp and ceremony were important to many Brits. I have the utmost respect for the Queen and the touch of class and simple good character she brought to the table over the last 70 years. However, I can sympathize with those who cannot understand why the country can come to a standstill and peoples lives have been disturbed, looking forward to a sporting weekend; getting away from the drudgery of work and enjoying their free time. Many have spent their hard earned money in planning to go to matches or relaxing watching a game at home. I sympathize with all the sporting clubs living from hand to mouth and being set back in this way.
Let's face it, The monarchy is inherited and not earned. Sure, I hear the income generated by their existence benefits the United kingdom, but surely the 7+ billion people on the planet should command the same respect. I think of the poor girl who was brutally murdered in Liverpool recently. Yes, it was heartbreaking news to hear of the Queen's passing, but maybe less so than others.
    The world has changed.
