Manchester United and Leeds United will – barring some freak postponement – both definitely now have two fixtures in Gameweek 22.

The two Premier League sides avoided the need for a replay in their respective FA Cup fourth-round ties on Saturday; had either side drawn, neither would have had a ‘double’.

Planning can now begin in earnest for Fantasy Premier League (FPL) managers, with our captain poll launched for Double Gameweek 22 and our ‘bus team’ to follow on Sunday morning.

It should be said that the Red Devils still have an EFL Cup semi-final, second-leg tie to come on Wednesday, so it may be prudent to hold any transfers until after that point in case any midweek/suspensions are picked up.

With Man Utd 3-0 up on Nottingham Forest from the first leg, however, Erik ten Hag will surely be tempted to rest a few of his big guns.

We should also mention that if the Red Devils do qualify for the EFL Cup final, as they surely will do now, they will blank in Gameweek 25. They will also blank in Gameweek 28 if they, or Brighton and Hove Albion, reach the FA Cup quarter-finals.

So while doubling or tripling up on Man Utd assets will be the order of the day for many of us in Double Gameweek 22, having a contingency plan to deal with Blank Gameweeks 25/28 will also be important.

WHAT ARE THE DOUBLE GAMEWEEK 22 FIXTURES?

Leeds face a trip to Nottingham Forest before they head to Old Trafford, while the Red Devils entertain a side they have just met – Crystal Palace – before hosting Jesse Marsch’s side.

There’s a swift rematch between Leeds and Man Utd in Gameweek 23 at Elland Road, too, just four days after they clash in Manchester.

With Stones out does this lessen the rotation risk of other Man City defenders, or is this just no possible with El Pep?

    Ake, Akanji etc.

Looking for a Bueno replacement already have Tripp / Schar / White / Shaw

    Thanks

Unless you are playing 5 at the back maybe just go for a cheap starting non-City defender.

      Pep talking up Ake recently.

Which means he's definitely a rotation risk.

I see so many moving on Almiron. I would have thought, dependent on team structure, you keep him for this GW. There are still 3 GW's until 25 an your views could be entirely different.
My nagging thought is take a risk on Pool. Not often are they differential picks; expensive I know but at worst a placeholder for a Chelsea asset that could surprise.
what is the plan with Almiron this week in particular if not changing to a ManU player?

I'm leaning towards keeping Almiron for at least one more week, in which case he'll certainly be starting against West Ham.

Then he probably goes for Mahrez - though I could do Andreas also.

A logical call. It seems to me this year we have Pep, Potter, Klopp and to a certain extent Conte roulette this year. A lot depends on Europe but I can see rotation at the season end a bigger problem than prior years. Something to think about thats all/

Moving on Almiron is a risk. I have kept for another GW if I wasn't going to be priced out of Odegaard for the DGW22, and I probably had to lose one of Shaw, Trippier, Rashford & Almiron before GW25 anyway.

He's still in my team, although on the bench this week & gone soon. Tried to resist the turning of the tide against him as he still looked in the games against Leicester, but my expectations are certainly lowered given Newcastle's struggles to score at the moment, and I'm carrying Rashford & Mitoma through the blank so Miggy will have to go

Yeah. It's more the timing than anything else. I agree Newcastle have dropped off a little and I put this down to Isaak than anything else. It is typical, any decision we make on this one will come back to bite us.

I’m probably selling for either Bruno or Mudryk and using the third Arsenal spot on Nkeitah or Saka (have Saliba and Odegaard). Trossard has looked good and will certainly eat into Martinelli minutes now.

Firstly, I think he's still very much nailed & unless you're really bothered by losing 15-20mins here & there, he hasn't become a hard sell just because of Trosssard.

But, I'm not sure he is in the top 3 Arsenal FPL assets right now. Maybe Jesus' return will change that again, but for now I'm quite tempted to switch to Nketiah

      I'm keeping Martinelli.

I hear Brighton could still play in GW25 even if Newcastle proceed to the League Cup final. They’ll insert a postponed Brighton game in the midweek that follows the GW25 weekend. Although I think this is dependent on their FA cup game today.

He’ll have had nearly two weeks since his first appearance against Liverpool to work on his fitness. Apparently he has been working extra hours to get his sharpness up. Not too many decent options at LW so I would expect a start and probably a sub around 70-75 mins. If I get tickets to the game it may push me to get him.

I think Deulofail pointed out RMT was incorrectly showing Nketiah's xMins as impacted by Jesus over the next few weeks. My impression of the timeframe on his return is more like GW25/6 (from a link Hazz posted recently)

Yeah we can't predict accurately. By GW25 he could be back - but Nketiah been doing a great job so maybe they won't rush. Slight fear but will worry about later. Also spotted the RMT thing!

But between Ode and Saka, Ode is preferred? Or Saka if money no issue?

I could be looking at White, Martineli to Ode/Saka and bringing Nketiah

I don't disagree it's ridiculous money, however the reason it's possible is because the contracts are spread across so many years. Also the newer Chelsea contracts are far more performance-based, so the base fee is going to be quite a bit lower than the reported numbers.

FIFA are looking at reducing the length of contracts because it's valid to circumnavigate it this year.

Plus, Chelsea are not the only ones that have handed out long contracts to get around this sort of stuff. That's been going on for years - not as frequently as us in this window though.

It's his usual anti Chelsea totally blinkered pathetic wumming rhetoric which he regurgitates endlessly. One sniff of something which he completely mistakenly takes as a shot at Arsenal and he suddenly produces accusations of being anti Arsenal. Hideously hypocritical liar of an individual ( and yes Slackwillie the lies are proven on here ).

Torn between KDB > Bruno for free or adding Martinelli > Rodrygo for a hit.
Concerned about Trossard's impact and will most likely shift Almiron to Saka after the Bournemouth match...

      Good decision, imo

I'm not too bothered about the outcome (we have no control over things like a 10th minute injury or random red card), but I see it as a good decision

He's in the best form ever and has two good home fixtures.

It's either this or wait and go for Haaland.

On balance I think I will go for it. My thinking is that Pep may well play Alvarez in one of the games if City get two "easy" home games in a future double, especially if they're only 3 or 4 days apart.

What would you prefer for DGW23

    Option A:
Triple city attack ( Halland, KDB, Mahrez ) + triple Arsenal attack ( Odegard, Saka, Nketiah ) - means losing Kane and 5 m ITB.

    Option B:
Same city attack + Dbl Arsenal attack: ( Zinchenko in defence in place of Saka ), but I get to keep Kane.

Unfortunately I need to decide before GW22 deadline.

My FT will be KDB > Bruno. Should I also do Mitrovic > Nketiah (-4) and bench Almiron or just start Almiron (h) to West Ham?

Doing FT this week depends on which moves to do next GW.

So, before DGW, would you do

    A) Toney to Nketiah
    B) Almiron to Saka or Ødegaard

None. They've been horrible all season, including yesterday vs Accrington Stanley (first choice backline started)

Having two games in one week won't suddenly make them a strong defence. I think they'll likely be outscored by Newcastle defenders, before we even get to Man U defs

I wouldn't recommend that tbh. Don't see a CS in either game & no one has much attacking threat. Lineup will probably be:
      Ayling Koch Wober Struijk

Planning Mitrovic, Mount and James to Gnonto, Bruno and Shaw (-4) this week. Would be for exact cash so likely to be priced out shortly. Would you make moves now or wait until later in the week especially Shaw illness, which would likely mean a cheaper United defender instead of Shaw?

I would wait if you have another route in. I'm hanging on fernandes as have exact funds to sell Mart for him. Van afford one more Mart drop but not a Bruno rise. Will hit the button if i look like being priced out.

He'd have been gone weeks ago if I didn't have other fires to put out - very likely to have minutes managed this weekend and feel not owning a Man United defender this week is risky

Mulling over a couple of options for 22-23 to maximise the dubs:

    1) Mart > Bruno 22
    Bruno, Almi > Ode, Mahrez 23 (-4)

    2) Mart > Bruno 22
    Bruno, Almi > Saka, Grealish 23 (-4)

    3) save the -4 and don't bring in Bruno, just do the 23 moves (only 2 utd for 22)

    Curently have White/Mart/Nketiah, Shaw/Rash, KDB/Haal as 22-23 doublers

1 for me. If you're going to trim any part of the move, I'd make it Mahrez/Grealish, not Bruno

Not looked that closely, but I’m inclined to agree with Deulofail. If I had a spare FT for a defensive transfer right now then think he’d be top of my list
