Which Fantasy Premier League (FPL) options will make the weekly Scout Picks for Double Gameweek 22?

That’s what our in-house team of Sam, Az, Tom and Neale are debating in this Scout Squad article.

In this feature, our panelists each put together an 18-man player longlist ahead of the upcoming Gameweek – with various stipulations, as detailed in the next section.

These selections will go a long way toward deciding the final Scout Picks, with the FPL assets receiving the most votes in with a better chance of making the cut.

ABOUT THE SCOUT SQUAD

Everything you ever wanted to know about the FPL Bonus Point System - part one

Our four resident writers are solely focused on the upcoming Gameweek with their selections. Anything outside of this window, we cover in the Watchlist.

The players who get the most votes are much more likely to make the Scout Picks, although the final XI can’t exceed £83.0m – so occasionally, cheaper alternatives have to be found.

Each of our writers must meet the following requirements for this feature:

  • At least one sub-£5.0m goalkeeper
  • At least one sub-£5.0m defender
  • At least one sub-£6.0m midfielder
  • At least one sub-£7.0m forward
  • No more than three players from the same club

    Transfer suggestions? (2 FT & 1.0 ITB).

    Kepa
    Trippier - Shaw - White
    KDB - Rashford - Martinelli - Mitoma
    Haaland - Kane - Mitrovic
    (Ward - Cancelo* - Andreas - Bueno)

Definitely want Cancelo out and adding a third Arsenal. Maybe Cancelo & Andreas --> Ake & Odegaard (bench Mitro)?

You want that Cancelo replacement to be long term or short? If long then Ake a good one, if short I’d go with someone else.

    Cancelo > Estupinian

Ok - got a few ideas I'm toying with...

    Ederson
    Trippier, Shaw*, Gabriel
    Martinelli, Mahrez, Rashford*, Odegaard, Rodrigo*
    Haaland, Martial*

    Ward, Kane, Botman, Bueno
    1ft, 2.9itb

    a/ Roll
    b/ Martinelli > Saka
    c/ Martinelli & Martial > Bruno & Gnonto (-4)
    d/ Martinelli & Shaw > Bruno & 4.5def (-4) (Start Botman)

    c/ & d/ would then be Bruno > Saka for gw23.

If Martial plays a little today and looks fit I'm leaning to d/...triple MU attack sounds delightful for their double.

      e. Play Kane over Mahrez as City away & Kane despite Spurs up/down season still scoring & on pens

      b from your options

Hi guys, thought I’d ask for advice here now as I won’t be able to ge Tom much towards deadline.

    Kepa
    Trippier - Shaw - Schär
    Saka - March - Rashford (c) - KDB - Odegaard
    Kane - Haaland
    _______________________________________
    Ederson: Gnonto: White: Aurier

    1FT, 0.2 ITB

Plan is to do KDB > Bruno after game.

However, in a bit of a pickle as to who to play/bench.

Would you bench anyone from main 11 here for Gnonto?
Also doesn’t feel right benching White. Maybe bench Schar as Bruno G is out?

    Many thanks any input appreciated.

    1. RogDog_jimmy

I'd be starting Gnonto over Kane if I got him in - which seems silly but also why the heck not?!
I also am starting Gabriel over my second Newcastle defender.

Can see a case/argument either way for both of them.

      1. Bluetiger1

I would keep Kane for single week to outscore Gnonto, as still scoring more than Gnonto who has not scored in last two games against Villa & Brentford

This is a fair and true point, I knew it was going to be a bit of a headache when I selected Gnonto on Wildcard.

Cheers RJ! Yeah it feels so weird benching Kane, even if it is against City, think I’d be relying on that NFO game more to him and a likely guaranteed 2 pointer against UTD but you never know, it’s a tough decision.

I think White over Schar here could make sense, spread the risk.

      Hi Ricicle,

if no injuries in united game agree with KDB > Bruno for GW22

GW23 would then switch back Bruno > KDB looking at current squad you have

Hi BT! Cheers for that, yeah the old KDB > Bruno > KDB/Mahrez switcheroo is on the cards here, just feels uneasy not knowing firmly what to do about White & Gnonto

Since you have Gnonto possible change system for GW22 & put him as a DGW & for this week put March on bench.

I'd use this opportunity to switch KDB to Mahrez. More goal threat, better form, much cheaper, now seemingly nailed post-WC (could change when UCL resumes, of course)

About bench headaches: no penalty for points on the bench in FPL. Just do what you'd do on a weekly Free Hit

Would you keep 5m ITB on a Free Hit this season and get lower-quality assets just to avoid "benched points"? A strong squad gives you a weekly Free Hit. Yes, you might bench Leno's or Schar's 15-pointer, but that's better than not having at all, as they can come in for an injured player or randomly suspended match

Pick an XI based on the data you have, your expectation of points this week (ignore price), and your style of management, then ignore what happens on your bench after the deadline. Pick again with fresh data next GW

Thanks so much Ze! Sound advice as ever. I think the Mahrez pick after this DGW could be a wise move, need to tuck away how Mahrez has trolled me in the past and go off the data.

    Thoughts? (2 FT & 0.1 ITB)

    Ward
    Trippier - Cancelo - White
    KDB - Rashford - Martinelli - Almiron
    Haaland - Kane - Mitrovic
    (Iversen - Andreas - Bueno - Zanka)

Cancelo out Martinez in? Bank 1FT

  16. artvandelay316

    Current squad is:
    Kepa (Ward)
    Trippier, Shaw, White (Botman, Bueno)
    Rashford, Martinelli, KDB, March (Almiron)
    Haaland, Toney, Kane

I was going to WC to give me the following:
    Kepa (Ward)
    Trippier, Shaw, Gabriel (Botman, Bueno)
    Rashford, Odegaard, Mahrez, Mitoma, Bruno
    Haaland, Nketiah (Kane)

    Is that worth it?

If not the alternative plan is to do KDB to Bruno this week, then Almiron and March to Mahrez and Odegaard next week.

Can't decide which to do right now?

Yeah I'm rocking Ward/Iversen still and I can't take it anymore. Feel it's a better upgrade to my team and not wasting transfers swapping players in and out (e.g. KDB). Only reason I'd be buying Bruno would be ownership fear really.

If you already have DDG in place I wouldn't use two FTs or take a hit.

People think Trossard is a threat to his playing time.

The way I see it is he's as good a pick as he ever was. Certainly wouldn't be using FT to shift him out.

Arteta won't be starting Trossard in the league any time soon.

The main reason is a complete lack of patience. Allegedly.

Cancelo already on one assist and a CS looking likely - finally a break for patient owners!

Any chance Shaw doesn’t start any of the DGW games if fit?
He starts today with Malacia on the bench and it makes me think that Malacia may start vs Palace cause after that Man U has 2 games vs Leeds and then Barcelona
I don’t own him so I can get AWB for the double instead if more secure mins

I'd be shocked if Shaw didn't start both.

Getting minutes after illness tonight, probably get subbed around 70th min.

Yes if he’s subbed off early then he starts vs Palace I agree
