Newcastle v West Ham team news: Saint-Maximin starts, Gordon a sub

Six down, one to go: the final Premier League match of the day sees fourth-place Newcastle United play host to fourth-bottom West Ham United.

Kick-off at St James’ Park is at 17:30 GMT.

Eddie Howe tends not to make too many changes to his high-flying Newcastle side but he’s forced into one this evening, with Bruno Guimaraes suspended.

Allan Saint-Maximin is the man chosen to replace him: the Frenchman makes his first Premier League start in just over five months.

New signing Anthony Gordon is among the substitutes but Alexander Isak is absent after being concussed in the midweek cup tie against Southampton.

Miguel Almiron, the most-sold Fantasy Premier League (FPL) midfielder of Gameweek 22, starts again.

West Ham also only make one change from their last Premier League XI, and it too is an enforced one: Thilo Kehrer is in for the injured Kurt Zouma at centre-half.

New signing Danny Ings makes the bench after recovering from injury.

      I have Saka, White and Martinelli. I would say latter two are a rotation risk. However, as the DGW is next week, I neither have the funds nor the transfers to get rid of them now. I will be keeping but not out of choice.

        I would say Martinelli isn't a rotation risk. Trossard has been terrible when on the pitch.

      Things like pass completion, big chances created (even if not scored), even tackle win %, successful dribbles can generate a lot. Not saying that's the reason, but there are a lot of factors that can score bps without correlating to a high FPL score

      Think Saka is worth the hit over Martinelli. Swapped the 2 myself this week and no regrets. Whether it's better than Bruno to KDB this week not so sure. See how he plays tomorrow.

        He’s definitely moving in the summer but I’d be very surprised if it’s to Arsenal in honesty, despite all the hype around that specific move.

        You’ve played great football for the first half of this season and look to have that solid youth foundation for years to come but I don’t think you’ve got the spending power to keep up with the big boys. January was a prime example, invest properly & you could genuinely win the league, now I can see you tumbling to third by season end.

        I can see Rice in a United or even a Newcastle shirt (for the project) over Arsenal, as much as that may surprise some on here. We’ll see in a few months time I guess

        Not buying Bruno was a mistake. Of course, I played the long game and I took a hit to switch to triple Arsenal attack. It didn't work this week, but I hope that it will help me over the next few weeks.

          Not 100% on losing Bruno myself (was planning on Bruno to Saka but second thoughts) but 4 games and no upcoming blanks probably makes it a good move

            The lure of the DGW...I also hate to lose Bruno before he plays against Leeds at OT (GW23). Maybe selling Bruno in GW24 to make way for Mahrez, who plays Forest, is an easier pill to swallow.

              If it makes a difference, the home game is this week. GW23 is Away Vs Leeds.

              Not 100% on Mahrez longer term. I want him through 25 but definitely shifting once CL restarts and Pep Roulette starts spinning

                That's the annoying thing with City midfielders. Will probably do the Almiron to Saka move and think about what to do with Bruno. He will have to go anyway with BGW25 coming up.

    I was planning B but not sure if bringing in Nketieh is a problem waiting to happen and surely Mitro at home next week looks good....
