Sergio Aguero runs amok as Man City see off a Malaysia XI 3-1. A dazzling solo goal and a couple of assists served Fantasy managers a devastating reminder of his current form, with Carlos Tevez and Adam Johnson also finding the net. Scans reveal Gareth Bale looks to have escaped serious injury after Charlie Adam’s challenge in Spurs’ friendly with Liverpool last Saturday:

Malaysia XI 1 Man City 3
After Vincent Kompany flew home on Sunday to be treated for a calf problem, Roberto Mancini reshuffled his defensive options for yesterday’s match with a Malaysia XI. City kept faith in their new 3-5-2 formation once again and, with Pablo Zabaleta slotting into the back-three – Adam Johnson was handed a rare starting role on the right flank, Yaya Toure maintained his attacking central midfield role, while Sergio Aguero and Carlos Tevez started up front once again.

As City’s fitness increases with every passing game, Aguero’s influence continues to grow. Yesterday, he produced a masterclass and played a part in all three of his side’s goals – a clear indication of his menace ahead of the new season. Within the first 10 minutes he had a goal disallowed for offside and also hit the bar before a fantastic solo effort opened the scoring on 17 minutes; dancing round four opposition defenders, the Argentine found the net after executing a deft chip over the keeper to grab his second in the past three games.

City went in at the break one up but Aguero then turned creator just three minutes into the second-half, teeing up Tevez for the second. Only four minutes later, the former Atletico Madrid was at it again – this time a superb chip found Johnson inside the box and the winger wrong-footed the keeper to notch City’s third. Roberto Mancini made six changes as the game progressed and, much to the home side’s relief, withdrew Aguero after 70 minutes; the hosts’ late consolation failed to take the shine off a strong display from the Premier League champions, who have now won three in a row and conceded a single goal in their last four matches.

Post-match, Mancini revealed that Kompany’s calf problem is “nothing serious”, while going on to praise the performances of his front pair ahead of the new season, saying:

We were confident two weeks ago and I’m even more confident today. Sergio played very well and his partnership with Carlos has continued from last season. They scored a goal each today which is good. Hopefully we can continue his good form in the coming season.

Man City Starting XI: Pantilimon (Johansen 75); Savic, K Toure (Boyata 76), Zabaleta; A Johnson, Razak, Y Toure (Scapuzzi 58), Suarez (Evans 64) , Kolarov; Tevez (Mancini 76), Aguero (Lopes 70)

In Other News…
Reports in the Mail suggest Gareth Bale has escaped serious injury after Charlie Adam’s tackle in Spurs’ goalless draw with Liverpool on Saturday. The Welshman has returned to light training after scans allayed fears of a possible lengthy absence ahead of the new season – Tottenham boss Andre Villas-Boas played down the suggestion of the matter being reported to the FA but once again called for Adam to make an apology:

Needless to say, we are extremely relieved Gareth has not been seriously injured. There is previous history between the two players on the challenge that was done I think three years ago. Will we take it any further? We are discussing it within the club but in my opinion, the matter is dealt. But it would be extremely human for Charlie to come out with an apology. But you can’t force people to say anything and we will have to wait and see.

    Vidic, Vermaelen & Baines.

I'd say these are the 3 best "FPL" defenders in the league, disregarding price.

Seeing as their all 7m, who do people see scoring the most points this season, and subsequently being the best value for money?

        Hi Forca. How are you?

I'm trying to figure out how to bring in Jelavic for EVE good run of fixtures and then Cisse/Ba for NEW good run.

It's difficult though and I will have to sell a big hitting mf to upgrade graham. Pienaar moving to EVE will make it possible to get some EVE cover i suppose, but Jelly is the man hey.

as for Jelly i wouldlike to have him in my team in gw4 if is possible

i know that Pienaar could be great EVE option but i just dont belive in his consinstent fantasy returnes ( He wasn't so specialy in last several seasons)

aslo i think Jelly will be inloved in like 70% Everton goals

i will try get him in for Aguero in gw4 for sure

Vidic - strongest defence of the three so more CS potential (currently)
Verm. - Arsenal defence isn't great but very attacking so chance of goals.
Baines - Did I hear something about set pieces not being given to him this season? Jet lagged so maybe wrong. Least attractive of the three for me.

That's very diff to answer. Most will prob have 1/2 of them at various parts during the season. I can't see myself owning them for 38 games though. That's prob a mistake though...

That's a good point. You'd probably own them all in different stages. Baines during a good run in the 2nd half of the season, or when Everton are in good form and have the fixtures. Vidic, and Vermaelen the same.

You could, but it's a season long marathon - not a sprint. If he does turn out to be nailed on those first few weeks you'll miss out on a few goals and at most .3 value or so, nothing in the long-term. Or else you could have a non-starter non-points-scorer on your hands and have to worry about using a transfer up already to get rid of a wasted forward slot, not to mention all the other unexpected transfers we're all going to have to make when the season starts.

It's unlikely that Hernandez will be starting and even if he does he hasn't been scoring as well last season or in pre-season, and he's priced to reflect that.

If you know something we don't and think you can get the nailed on Utd main striker for 8.0 then that's the absolute steal of the season.

Why does he need a better solid keeper? Cheap keepers have always been the way to go, and there is not a great deal of points to be won with expensive keepers.
I assume it's Vorm he is talking about, who has great fixtures and rotates with Federici, although I'd prefer Friedel at the price he isn't a bad option.

Hi fellas! Latest draft for me !

    Friedel – Federici

    Demel – Lescott – A.Cole – Coloccini – Cuellar

Valencia – Hazard – Michu – Noble – Pienaar (if he moves to Everton ofc)

    Rooney – Tevez – Petric

    - Keepers I’m also happy with. Friedel is great value at 5.5M and has awesome fixtures from GW 1-10
Though Federici will start GW 1 ofc.
    - I currently like my defense a lot. Lescott and A.Cole will mostly be weekly starters, Coloccini or Cuellar for the last spot, with maybe throwing Demel in when I really have to.

    - Midfielders I’m also happy with. Went Valencia over Kagawa to not get too punty with my players. Hazard will be this years FPL Bale IMO. Michu I picked because you guys have talked him up in the skies. Noble, cheap and set-pieces. Pienaar, lets hope he returns to Everton for his owng good and for us.

    - Up front Rooney is the safe pick, Tevez I currently have now but I will take a look on the Community Shield to see if he plays a part. Petric will stay in my team as he is doing very good in the pre-season atm-. + Half a year ago I played with him on Fifa 12 with Hamburg and he was deadly in front of goal.

    Any thoughts guys? 😀

There has been a lot of discussion about Torres+2 >> Rooney.
Nobody seems to be taking into account that +2 may not be enough, especially if you wait til GW3. If Torres drops by .1 after GW1, then you'll need Torres+2.5. Too easy to get stuck with Torres or need to do a double switch.

If Torres looks like dropping by .1 people will sell. By the looks of it a mass amount of people are doing Torres to Rooney after GW1 so he will drop before GW2. Unless he scores 7 then we're all buggered.
