West Ham v Southampton team news: Fabianski, Aguerd + Emerson start

The weekend’s Premier League action continues on Sunday when West Ham United host Southampton at the London Stadium.

After Bournemouth’s win over Fulham, they sit 19th and 20th respectively, so this really is a crunch relegation showdown.

Kick-off is at 14:00 BST.

As for the all-important team news, Lukasz Fabianski returns in goal for West Ham after missing the last four league matches with a fractured cheekbone.

That means Alphonse Areola drops to the bench, but Nayef Aguerd and Emerson Palmieri have recovered from illness and a minor knock to start in defence.

Ruben Selles makes two changes for Southampton, as Duje Caleta-Car and Sekou Mara replace Armel Bella-Kotchap and Che Adams, both of whom miss out through injury.

    Just catching up on MOTD. That is the worst Chelsea team I’ve seen in their 20 year history.

    Mudryk has also got to be the worst big money signing ever. He makes Pepe look world class.

      It’s not just Mudryk though. Yes, he is a disaster, but Cucurella served up the Watkins goal on a platter, James should NOT be a central defender, and the rest of the tactics were all wrong. The players lack the talent to play for Chelsea for sure, but the Gaffer is way over his head.

        I think they’ve got some great players but they’ve been bunched together in a too quick fashion. Throughly enjoying their downfall though.

        I like Potter, I think he could do well at another top 8 club given time.

      Needs to be pointed out Arteta had 6 transfer windows behind him at the start of this season to build this Arsenal side and 3 seasons of nurturing/developing the likes of Saka, Martinelli and ESR. Potter needs time!

    Leicester deserve where they are. They have been rudderless since they won the title and especially since the tragedy. No investment in talent. Treating fans like crap. They deserve a period of reflection in the championship.

      Pretty sure Leicester tend to treat the fans pretty well don't they?

      They've at least won the FA Cup since - but they're not historically a top-top team.

      They invested in a few players, but not the best & were ravaged by defensive injuries.

      Does seem they are a little short of money lately.

      Also their owner dying in a helicopter crash can't have helped off-pitch.

      Been a bit of a mess of late but maybe also a symptom of other clubs splashing the cash way more.

        As an international supporter it’s brutal. I have a ticket history going back to the championship days. I only make it to the UK one or twice a year for a match. They won’t sell tickets to international supporters even with a membership and even for lesser fixtures. Seats actually go empty at the KP for those matches. So now I, and others in the same position, need to beg for extras on the supporters board.

        I know of no other club that does that.
