Foden is a priority buy. Those that didn't buy last week got lucky and have another chance now before the monster haul comes.

Has he looked that good on the eye test? Haven’t seen that many matches live this season, I just remember Foden being a class player but annoying to own with all the rotation and 1 pointers amongst the hauls

Martinelli out, For a hit!? Utd defence was abysmal even with Varane and Shaw. Arsenal could easily get 3+ goals against them.

    Thoughts? 1.4M, 1FT.

    Johnstone (!)
    Chilwell | Udogie | Estupiñán
    Diaby | Saka | Mbeumo | Mitoma (!) | Salah (!)
    N. Jackson | Haaland (C)

Bench: Turner, Gabriel (!), Kabore, Mubama

Maybe Mitoma>Maddison for now? WC over international break?

Just read Zophar's comments after I'd come to the same line of thinking. All week I've been intent on selling Martinelli. I took a couple of days to decide between Sterling and Maddison. Thank goodness I held my nerve and didn't chase a price rise. Due to the news emerging about United's defence, together with the likely return of Jesus, I think Marty's worth holding after all.

I think Martinelli is a sell still tbh if you're bringing in Sterling or Maddison.

It's all hypotheticals. The facts have shown us that the Arsenal attack has not clicked this season so far. In fact, they're 16th in attacking data (xGI). I don't want two attackers from a team with those numbers.

      1. Andy_Social

I think the absence of Jesus accounts for that. With Jesus up top, even Havertz might play better. And then Everton are up next.

In the meantime, Estupinan has 2 fixtures I don't mind benching him for, so I'd rather turn my attention to defence and hop on Udogie for a pair of tasty hotdogs. After that, I wildcard.

We don't know that Jesus answers everything. In fact, it's the midfield I think that's the problem. Havertz is not Xhaka.

We don't know anything. But I can see what Arteta is trying to do. His and his midfield's failures have stemmed from losing Jesus and one end and Timber at the other.
United haven't just lost Varane - Shaw's gone too, so that half their backline with sparse cover.

I’m with Camzy. I’m not doubting the player’s ability, Martinelli’s a great player, and was a brilliant FPL asset last season. But he just hasn’t looked the same this time around, which I think is down to Arteta’s tinkering. I don’t see him getting into the same positions and having the same chances as he was last year. Plus he’s also a rotation risk. Until I see something change in relation to those issues, I’m happy to swerve. Plenty other good midfield options.

    Some questions:

-Do you think Liverpool would sell Salah by Friday if they get more than 150M? He's on huge wages too. Think Liverpool can get a good 2 years out of him. He's in superb shape.
-Will Johnstone play another week before Henderson comes in?
-Will Mitoma have reduced minutes with Fati joining?

    1. Andy_Social
      • 13 Years

I'm depending on Johnstone to play this GW. After that I can make a keeper transfer over the Break if necessary.

Fati might be a direct replacement for Enciso if DeZe still has little faith in Joao Pedro.

      He's still a sell imo.

Arsenal's attacking data is really poor through their first 3 games (which haven't even been hard). I'm assuming you have Saka, so to double on an attack and in Martinelli, a player who has had 2 shots in the first 3 games, instead of picking any of the hotter options with superior form and fixtures on their side, would be a mistake imo.

You can spin all sorts of narratives on how Jesus being back makes Martinelli better etc. But the evidence on the pitch so far is that Arsenal have not managed to make their attack click and I personally don't want two players from that attack especially against United who are certainly an above average defense even with Varane out.

      1. Royal5
        • 14 Years

Valid points. I do agree Arsenal has not looked their best so far this season. The United game could be more open though, and that could suite Arsenal. Think we could see a few goals in this one.

We absolutely could but will it be Martinelli that gets them? I would definitely prefer both Sterling and Maddison this week.

    6. Arteta
      • 10 Years
      2 years, 5 months ago

No Varane on Martinelli's side, no Shaw on Saka's side, and I keep seeing people (considering) selling them or Odegaard—even for hits. Okay, I understand it to some extent, and there are a lot of good midfielders to pick from, as we did before GW1. But some are putting way too much faith in the rest of the defense and the shaky Onana.

Shaw is a non-entity against Saka anyway, gets rinsed every time they play each other. Martinelli will be up against Wan-Bissaka, who's been pretty good, and should keep him quiet.

    Hi all,

Went for eze over mbuemo at the start of the season, and it’s been very painful so far!

Worth preserving with eze for these better fixtures, or just make the switch to mbuemo now?

Would be a -4 as bringing in Maddison for mitoma this week.

    Thoughts appreciate!
