    Haha, Goldbridge logic.

England lose = Southgate is crap
England wins = Southgate is crap, players are good

There's just no way to win as a manager for England...

Southgate started Maguire and Stones this evening as CB’s. One returning from injury having not kicked a ball in weeks and the other having played barely over 100mins of football this season. His loyalty to some players is questionable.

Colwill, Dunk and Guehi sitting on the bench with just the latter getting less than 30mins. Tomori not even in the squad and he plays most of those Italian players each week!

It’s not FIFA - why would he stick out a completely untested, untrusted defence in a qualifier? Tomori hasn’t played well when given the chance.

FIFA lol. Tomori has been one of the best CB’s in the Italian league this year and was very good last year also getting to a CL final. I didn’t say Southgate should have started him either or stick out an untested defence, I merely highlighted he want even included in the squad. “Didn’t play well when given the chance” at least he is playing every week.

Surely you don’t think picking Maguire is the way forward for them? I’m not English, speaking from a completely neutral pov.

What’s the point of having him in the squad if he’s not going to play? Southgate doesn’t rate him, simple as that.

Until Southgate leaves, there’s no problem with Maguire playing. Best defender on the pitch tonight and why shake things up before a major tournament?

I like Southgate and think he has done a decent job. My OP was just highlighting that I can see why some of his decisions are questioned by people.

“What’s the point in having him in the squad if he’s not going to play?” Why have any subs with that logic, he still might have played/come on during the game. He should be giving the younger defenders experience in these types of games. Harry is 30 years old and 5th choice CB at his club. The others on the bench are playing every week and first choice for their clubs.

There’s a difference between being a sub and being a reserve - doesn’t matter because no one has performed better or earned the manager’s trust more than Maguire.

No team scored more goals per game at the World Cup than England.

      3 goals against Italy today.

Yet many are still crying out for England to be more attacking.

England have the best attack in the world, there's no doubting that now. Even France's is not on the same level.

Southgate should be judged on winning a major tournament, if he can't win the upcoming Euros time for someone new.

Knock-out tournaments come down to small moments - you need a bit of luck. The best teams don't always win. So I think that's a harsh measure. There are some other great trams out there like France and Portugal.

                  Totally disagree.

Italy were the best coached team in the Euros and won.

Argentina built a team around the world's best player and won the WC.

Good coaching that gets the best out of players is really important. That's not luck.

If Pep can lose 3 in a row with his coaching ability and that squad then a team can lose in knock out competitions. Luck always plays some part

Diaz in for Sterling went so terribly wrong last week, compounding what is probably my worst-ever season so far. Down to 4m OR.

1FT, 1.4m ITB - any advice much appreciated here!

            Areola (Leno)
            Cash Udogie Schar (Estupiñán** Kabore)
            Son Maddison Diaz Mbeumo Saka
            Haaland Watkins (Archer)

Can get Salah and a (currently) 4.8m cheapie in for Diaz and Saka… or Neto and Isak/Álvarez and change in for Saka+Archer

Sometimes the best move is no move. There is nothing wrong with your team this week. HnR. Yes, if Saka is out, Archer is not a brilliant sub but you will want Saka in GW10.

Just to address your Salah/4.8 option: that means you're starting a 4.8 mid or Archer every week. That's a mess. In GW10 with 2 FT you can sort out your issues at a minimum cost.

yes for sure. Despite what people say about Liverpool's defence I think they've been pretty solid given the fixtures they've had and that a considerable amount of the goals they've conceded have come from individual errors (something you'd think they'll cut out).

That's something I wouldn't be betting on with big money when Robbo is out and Tsimikas is possibly playing. However with easier fixtures defenders are likely to get less pressure.

England have been bailed out tonight out by moments of brilliance and elite finishing by world class players.

They really struggle to make use of the high upfield possession which is down to poor coaching and tactics.

Disagree. The way a team is set up and coached should win the game otherwise what's the point of a manager.

Expecting random moments from world class players is not a consistent tactic for success.

You can't coach upfield possession, imo. Can coach structure and build up but the final third is down to instinct and class of the forwards.

England could win the Euros and the WC back to back and some would still be stuck in this thought process.

Agreed. Too much space between the lines. Waistcoat plays 7-3

It was only Jude & Kane brilliance that won the game. Another day it gets the 0-1 it warranted.

Avram Grant is from Israel which explains why he's not managing England. The FA wanted an English coach in charge.

For anyone who went with or kept Mark Flekken.

He came down with appendicitis but didn’t need surgery.
Looks like he trained today and will be fit for the Burnley game.

This is also a notice to avoid Strakosha unless you want him as bench fodder.

I understand. If Robertson is ruled out for several weeks, I may take a punt on Tsimikas regardless of whether Botman is back. I really like Tsimikas’ attacking potential particular with the fixtures Pool have coming up.

Clarity on why Reece James and Carney Chukwuemeka haven’t been pictured in Chelsea training: James sustained an injury in training over 10 days ago. He underwent a scan, which was deemed fine - and has been training alone.

He is a doubt for Chelsea’s clash against Arsenal on Saturday.

Meanwhile, Chukwuemeka has been suffering with knee pain again. Perhaps a reoccurrence of his latest injury. #CFC

The fact some here were saying to others "need to get rid of Gusto because James is back" is pretty funny in hindsight. In all seriousness though have to feel for him, he's beginning to get to the stage where it's starting to feel like his career is pretty close to aligning with those of the likes of Wilshere or Diaby, such immense talent but his body for some reason just doesn't seem able for the sport

I think it has reached the stage where they have to play Reece James in a less demanding role, centre of a back three or something replacing Silva overtime. His body is just not able for the constant yards he has to put in at wing back.

I would save the transfer. Your starting 11 have all good fixtures (except for Saka maybe but you want to keep him for the next weeks)

Even if Saka doesnt and Botman does, as a Palace fan we are all been hoping for 0-0 the last 3 weeks (and got them)

Best option to start here folks???

                  A- Cash(West Ham home)
                  Or
                  B- Burn(Palace home) have Trippier

                  Currently starting B!!

                  Thoughts appreciated!!

                  Trying hard not to WC10
                  1FT 0.1 ITB
                  Turner (Johnstone)
Saliba, Cash, Porro (Kabore, Gusto - be interesting if James is a RCB)
Salah, Son, Maddison, Diaby, (Eze - yes still have him, what a loss in value),
                  Pedro Alvarez Haaland

Really could WC 10 midfield of Saka (or Martinelli, which will bring in Trippier later), Maddison, Bowen, Diaby, Salah

                  A. Pedro to Archer (and play him) then GW 10 get Son to Saka or Martinelli and Eze to Bowen for a hit)
B Eze to Gordon, (and go Son to Martinelli and Pedro to Nunez GW10
                  1. Saka
                  2. Martinelli (is worth a saving over 0.9m worth it)?

I can guarantee as soon as you get rid of Eze, he’ll get a brace, but long run it’s a good move to get rid for someone with more consistency.
Also depends on preferred formation moving forwards. I like Neto/Hwang over Gordon.

Although Son and Eze to Martinelli and Bowen is appealing. I have son but would prefer maddy and wouldn’t want both.

                  But
                  A Pedro to Archer GW9, And SOn/Gordon to Martinelli Bowen GW10 (3-5-2)
B Eze to Gordon and Son to Martinelli And Pedro/Darwen for GW10 (3-4-3)

I'd probably do something like Pedro to Archer this week, and the option to something like Eze to Gordon next week. I'd keep Son for the time being.

Gordon would essentially become my 1st sub in a 4-3-3 formation.

How about Eze straight to Bowen?

I have both Maddison & Son and Martinelli is definitely an option, but I think I'll be holding M&S for a while unless there's a clear drop in form.

0.5 short 🙁 and that is doing a -4 as i have Son still

Gibbs white against Luton could be instead of Eze to Gordon. i see a 1-0 Newcastle there, not a ton og goals, unless they score early

Not really showing the form to justify it. Sheffield are dreadful at the back but perfectly capable of grabbing consolation goals.

Salah, Cash & Burn closest to price rise.
Mitoma & Saka closest to fall. [FPL Statistics]

If we can get those price changes,
                  that would be great.

                  [Doubt it though]

Agree. Him and Nunez both getting back late and Pool having the early Saturday KO . . . again. It’s getting kind of silly how often Pool have been put in that spot after IB.
