    The reason he was subbed was because he was at risk of an injury. Remember he'd played lots of minutes in the IB for Italy, then straight into PL - and had muscle tightness.
    
    Not something you want to risk when integral to the team, Chelsea the following game & at least do have backup options (vs. a team not in form).
    
    As much as I can read he's not injured but might have been had he played. Rested as precaution?
