Selling now looks like a very odd thing. Nothing guaranteed, but he's very likely to play vs Luton and Palace as the striker on pens. I'm glad I kept, even if the City games has been rough to watch as an owner

Headland (Haaland) waiting for news if playing as heard lots since yesterday possible
not playing - undecided until then?

GW16- Positive if not Haaland (C) as have Salah (VC) extra 13 points gained with Gordon first sub on bench, will look to
take decision out Haaland to transfer out for GW17 looking at average over two GW17 & GW18 plus covering GW18

      man city
      GW17 Crystal Palace (H)
      GW18 Blank Game Week

Sorry - answer would be Watkins looking at combining
      GW17 - Brentford (A)
      GW18 - Sheffield United (H)

Gordon might also play on the right to give Miggy a rest at times. Howe might look to go with 60/30 min rotations with attacking options where he can in upcoming fixtures.

This post is not FPL related, but those who don't support, the top 6. But even those who do will resonate with this

I am stiff fuming after yesterday but this season in particular about the rules of the game

And as James put it so elegantly in planet fpl. It is VAR is completely different experience at the game as you don't know what is going on

You don't know if VAR are looking at something or not whilst at the game. 3 minutes later the referee blows up for something and you have no idea what is going on.

      it's gotta go...

      now it's re-ref'ing controversy.

for all it irons out it creates more error by adding 2 or 3 officials/occasional plonkers in the mix.

The officials will resist because it's at least 60 more weekend match official slots for a start.

      1. Crunchie
        • Fantasy Football Scout Member

Yeah. Plus there were 17 fouls each team yesterday. Place had 9 YC and a red. Liverpool had two

As Roy correctly points out that no pundit does. You have to take a free kick from where the offence happened. Not like VVD did and take it from where he likes and try and kick it against a player, as in this case Ayew. It is even debatedable if it hit Ayew at all.

The game was played in a great spirit and wasn't dirty at all from both sides

Yep we will have a referees union soon to go on strike. Lol

But VAR is a farce. But it has made the standard of refereeing worse.

There is more of a narrative to protect the big clubs from yhe global game as they are better supported around the world than the integrity of the sport. Than each decision being subjective as it should be.
Refs all will have good games and bad ones, bit that has changed now in the last 3 years or so..

And the rule changes haven't helped the refs though

It isn't even common sense anymore.

can't agree with you on the Ayew booking for being in front of VVD as I believe booking was fully justified, it was evident he was trying to prevent the free kick being taken (even if it was from an incorrrect place), that's against the rules - normally a player swoops in front of the ball to prevent it being taken, annoys me like hell that the referee takes no action in those cases too

So if a free kick is taken. You saying it doesn't matter it is 20 yards further up the field and the player cannot try and justify this? Or point it out?

            It didn't even hit him

Fact wasvthe free kick was being taken quickly from an incorrect position

They stopped knee kicks when the ball is still moving for this very reason

It is ghe same justification that the first penalty should had stood as the foul before is irrelevant. That is clearly false.

              It wasn't a penalty.

The first offence is what matters and the offence was the knee kick was 20 yards infant of the original offence. In this case offside

at the end of the day the booking was deserved imo because he tried to prevent the free kick being taken

All of us agree on the unsatisfactory nature of VAR, not only the success rate but the way they go about it as well. But realistically, do fans have a say in it? Clubs need to be unified in their aim to make it more transparent.

Think I'm in a minority but I actually like VAR and its controversy, what I don't like are the attempts to use it to players advantage like falling over at the smallest touch and wailing in agony and I think that works in favour of the top teams

But honestly, do you go to games. I am sure you would feel different if you do. If you don't, then you are getting the latest information all the time me of what is happening.

At the game you are 5 minutes in the dark

Yes. I suppose then you are watching PL on TV and Wycombe games live.

              You don't have that problem

As a Palace fan I used to enjoy our roller coaster rides of promotion 89, relegation with 49 points in 93 Promted to be relegated 4th from bottom in 95. 96 losing to Leicester in 122nd minutes in yhe play off final and winning in yhe 90th minutes in 97. Admin in 99.

It was a hella of a decade but entirely the clubs back luck, good fortune . Never once was it the systems fault buy the clues owners.

Now being in the PL for the 10th years I am not enjoying it at all. Since covid it has got worse as the money men realises it is not yhe fans going to yhe games that is the most important thing. It is the sudden effort.

That doesn't happen in what is/was the greatest 4 tear league system in the world

The championship still is the best supported league in the world

It also with the new rules make referees decisions worse as someone else can always overrule them

As highest fould endo but it went for a corner and a goal came from it. Var cannot get involved then.

But they can when it is a penalty?

First step is to introduce the challenge system. Checking every decision undermines the role of the onfield referee and creates needless work for VAR.

Teams should challenge on-field decision, at which ref goes to the monitor or (even better), they share the process and conversation on big screen. Number of unsuccessful challenges can be debated upon.

Absolutely. They always want to cover there arses.

It works fine in Rugby. 80% of the time

If it was open and transparent, and the old fashioned handball rules were brought back

I fi d it amazing g it works I. A similar sprt yet we take no notice of how it is done

The purpose of VAR is not to make the game more fair. The purpose of VAR is to make the game like US sports, i.e. chopped up with plenty of breaks/ad space.

Liverpool have been the beneficiaries of decisions going back 5 years now. How many times did they get offside goals? Very suspicious.

Disagree personally, he looked in a lot of pain initially but a kick to the back often tends to be like that but can simmer down very quickly. Someone said they spoke to him in the fanzone a while after the match (maybe 1hr or so after) and he said he was OK then

Here was published a video where he was crying after the game. I imagine that even if was serious he wouldn't have known how big issue there is. It's much easier to say "I'm fine" than admit to have zero idea. My personal opinion only. In this game I make my decisions based on my own instincts and if I am wrong, then I simply am. Not recommding anyone to trust my judgement on situations like this.

He was crying in pain immediately after being subbed when sitting down on the bench. I'd say if he did an interview on the pitch after the game and said he was doing OK and as well was in the fanzone later on that he was better pretty quickly. Not saying it can't have gotten worse again or anything but I've had kicks in the back plenty of times and it's rarely lasted long, but initially is horrible (and I have back pain issues daily). Doesn't matter now anyway, we'll find out soon

"Not convinced by injury claims on Haaland - City were never going to leave him out and proclaim they’ve rested him, so there was always going to be a reason presented. The midweek presser is handy but I imagine Pep will be vague. My money is on him making Palace as its stands."
