I am very tempted to get on Nkunku extremely early.

The way I see it, the only forwards that seems worth it are Solanke, Jesus and Nkunku.

Nkunku has better fixtures and better ceiling. He will also be needed while Jackson is away at AFCON. Its risky but I think it's mostly upside with not a ton of downside since forwards are all mostly disappointing anyway.

Think I'd bench him this week since I don't think he'll start and then put him in for the next home game where I think he starts.

Too risky? Picking Jesus or Solanke seems so dull and there's a 3rd forward slot to use if Nkunku doesn't work out anyway on one of them.

I replied on the last article. I think if you have a very good rank of 200-300k or better then you will need to take a risk as the template won’t cut it to keep advancing. If your rank is more modest, I’d go for dull and safe.

the concern with Nkunku is how heavily his minutes might need to be managed.

Probably would only be worth it if you had him for a game where he scored a brace or a hatrick and no-one else had him. Realistically you're not going to be captaining him.

Even then, you'd also want his alternatives like Jesus, Solanke, Wilson/Isak to be blanking.

And then if he was to have a game where he did get 2 or 3 goals, everyone would jump on him the week after.

So your maximum ceiling is maybe +15 points? Not sure if worth the risk

Chelsea strikers are famous for hitting the ground running after all - especially ones that haven't scored a goal in the 12 months since signing.

I get the sarcasm and that's justified, but not the best example to use it for...

He was still a Leipzig Player till July and scored 3 in 5 games pre-season. Nothing to write home about at all but don't make it sound like he's been at the club for 12 months, let alone played a single competitive minute in that time.

interesting take to be honest and definitely food for thought.

I have Darwin and it seems likely he is on the bench and comes on for a 1 pointer, so assuming Nkunku also comes on then can definitely see him outscoring Darwin.

Also cross-post from the lady article.

Chelsea fan here - I wouldn't be bringing in Nkunku this early.

Poch is being very protective with his minutes and it will continue to be a slow ramp-up than consecutive 90 mins any time soon.

The Christmas fixture congestion (which we do have a lot of) also complicates this as we need to rotate, but also need to protect him.

We have multiple options in our attack: Jackson, Broja, Sterling, Mudryk, Palmer, sometimes Gallagher/Enzo at 10 - (discounting Madueke mostly) and also Nkunku. Of course Nkunku is the premier option - but he's only just back to getting a few minutes off the bench.

He most likely doesn't even have penalties right now. Palmer took out 1st penalty in the shootout last night & after netting his last 4 in PL & that one last night, have to think they're his to keep until he misses/Nkunku up to more speed.

We're also coming into fixtures where we're playing more low blocks where we don't know what to do with the ball, so expect frustration.

Understand your comment on January, but why not just wait till then? I don't think there's a ton of gain Nkunku will give you till then - and by then you'll have a better picture of what he can handle, how is output is & make sure he doesn't pick any any knock (happens often after returns from a long lay-off).

Getting a player in that's just returned from a long layoff has never gone well for me so no from me. Especially given it's his first taste of the league and how busy this part of the season is

Agree on this. For FPL often steer clear of players just back from long lay-offs. Goes badly more often than it goes well.

        Yep literally just this.

Having said that Gusto looked much better at fullback (both LB & RB) than Colwill/Disasi who had been playing there recently.

It was a short cameo but I think (and hope) he will be the starter there soon.

It's just Christmas congestion that complicates things.

Wildcard team good or bad? 4.0itb. Pau could be Konsa if Pau is confirmed out. Also undecided between TAA vs Trippier.

    Raya Dubravka
    Trippier Porro Saliba Pau Colwill
    Salah Son Saka Richarlison Palmer
    Watkins Solanke Semenyo

Don't see there being any other goalkeepers that are significantly better than Raya. Leno only 0.1 cheaper and has harder fixtures in gw20 and 21. Pickford the only alternative keeper that is significantly cheaper but just don't trust Everton even though they have kept clean sheets in a row now.

Another reason is to open the 3rd Arsenal spot for Ode from 21 onwards. Neto is another option to consider

Neto has tough fixtures in 20 - 22 where I'd ideally want a keeper with good fixtures when my 2nd keeper is Dubravka.

Nothing wrong with Dubravka in tough fixtures. Likely gets save points and you could get the GK rotation wrong.

    Current transfer thoughts:

    Guehi/ Livramento to Porro/Trent/Villa def

    Sell:
Guehi - nailed but poor fixtures
Livramento - dicey xMins but next 2 fixtures are decent

    Buy:
Porro - closely matching TAA underlying attacking stats and good long term hold but low on potential CS
TAA - not an ideal entry point and tough fixtures 2xArsenal, Newcastle and Chelsea.
Konsa/Pau - good long term fixtures but low attacking ceiling

    Dubravka
    Gabriel Saliba Livramento

Tricky one - he is an injury doubt, Botman is back in the picture and it would be harsh on Lascelles for him to be dropped. Cash is looking out of favour at the moment.

We have no idea when Haaland will be back and Salah/Son/Hee Chan are about for a few weeks before heading off on International duty. Holding your WC as long as possible to get Haaland news and keeping Salah for Burnley and then rejigging the money is the biggest advantage you have, do not waste it by wildcarding now.

I’m talking more longer term though. Don’t want to bring him in if he’s going to be dropped for Johnson after not scoring for a couple games

Injury & mental health issues. Ange seems very positive now that he's back in much better condition. Bought Richi last week & have no concerns about nailedness.

The one thing I would point out is that Ange's comments about using Rich up front v Forest because of a lack space in behind may suggest that Rich/Son could still swap positions depending on the opponent/matchup

Always thought Spurs looked better with Rich up top and Son on the left. Surprised he isn’t being talked about more as an option

Mainly injury. His form was questionable as well but he's pretty nailed atm, mainly due to other injuries

            Nice ...

Bold with the goalkeeper but I do see why.

            Good luck

Yep that's why I'm wondering if I should sell him he's got a 50% flag but I've still got 1 bench player and could maybe save the FT

@ Tom Freeman. Are you around? Will there be an RMT session today/tomorrow? I have a couple of Villa questions for you

      • 13 Years

You don’t need Tom for this. I can cover off your Villa questions.

You are probably familiar with the modern concept of a villa: a spacious, private property filled to the brim with everything you may need to live there, unhurriedly and happily, either long-term or when on a quick escapade, most likely to a beautiful destination like St. Barts.

However, you may find yourself in awe of the history of villas and their conceptual origin, that goes far, far back, to the Roman Empire itself, and how the many changes villas have undergone through time are deeply connected to human history.

      Probably C.

I wonder if Arteta starts Kiwior LB over Zinchenko and man mark Salah. He would have done this with Tomiyasu if he was fit.

    Leno
    Trippier (C) - Porro* - Cash
    Salah - Son - Saka - Gordon - Palmer
    Watkins - Solanke

    Areola - Gabriel - Kabore - Alvarez

Thinking of going against Watkins for the Captaincy. Problem is effectively playing with 9 men with both Salah and Watkins set to be over or near 100.
*1 FT used for Tsimikas > Porro.

Not seeing the Trippier (c) appeal. Away to Luton is a tough fixture especially with Luton's set pieces
