It might be worth noting Steele on wildcards with his run of fixtures and seemingly solidified back between the sticks alongside Areola?

They were a little lucky at times yesterday, definitely look much better defensively now than in recent months but still a bit wary of them, better touches / less wastefulness from Cunha in particular (and maybe Neto too) and could have been very different), but tbf he should be decent for save pts

I haven't actually watched the highlights yet but at 4.2M can't be much worse than Areola/Dubravka at that price point was what I was saying. Wouldn't use a FT on it but if on WC and want two playing GKs that aren't X & Turner he's slowly making himself viable

I would be wary with Verbruggen getting a run of starts, no clear #1 GK imo.

At 4.2m and decent backup in Areola/Dubravka then it might be worth the punt but it would be Estupinan only from Brighton defence for me. Leave the two other spots open for their attackers.

At the moment no but I would prefer to leave the option open rather closed due to having a GK that isn't nailed and defence with only 2CS this season

In that analogy CR7 is the under 12 kid in the dojo. Sometimes people tend to forget he's 39 years of age.

Prime CR7 is 10x the player Haaland is right now.

See if TAA appears tomorrow or at the weekend first, if not then I'm reluctant to chance starting him, but if he's good then I think you have to play him. Might have to say Solanke, I know he was very unlucky v Spurs but I'm wondering if Bournemouth are going through a bit of a blip after their good run (haven't seen enough of them to know though)

Even during their terrible run they were putting up some excellent stats in the opposition half for pressing and turnovers, but defensively they were too easy to play against through the lines. I think they've fixed a lot of that but I did miss the second half v Liverpool where all the goals came from so I'm not sure

Little tip to brag about your OR..

Go into small businesses like for example the little hardware store I've just been into. Get chatting with them and you'll find they will say anything to get a bit of custom. Just been congratulated big time off an old lady called Doris, pretty sure she had no clue at all what an OR is but she wished me well for the future and said my family must be proud.

After a disappointing game week (42 points LOL) this morning I've been trying to work out my best chip strategy. I've watched various so called experts but as yet I haven't seen anyone come up with what are currently my thoughts.
For the double in 25, presuming Liverpool and Man City both double with Brentford and Luton I feel the free hit chip will best suit my team - 3 x Liverpool, 3 x Man City, Toney and 4 others.
I can then keep my 2 x Spurs players and Palmer without having to many headaches for the blank in 25.
Dead end my team into the big blank in 29 (I think) then wild card.
    Any thoughts?

I can see some appeal to FH25, rather than my usual preference of a BGW or mix of doubles & blanks, if Haaland/Salah/TAA/KDB are all fit. But I guess the question is how many of them could you accommodate without playing a chip (and how much will it hurt to go without any one of them in the lead up to DGW25)...

For now, given that the latest update on Salah makes his fitness for 25 questionable, I think I'm happy to work towards Trent, Jota, KDB, Foden, Haaland & think about a 3rd Pool options later. Still a lot of info to come & I don't think I'll rush in too early with Haaland either. I'm also more than happy to take hits for this DGW even if I have to remove 1-2 Pool players in 26.

Thanks for the responses above. I would want the 5 you've listed above Mentaculus with Darwin and Toney as well. However, that would leave me with 6 potential non players for 26 depending on the results over the next 2 days, which is why I'm more inclined to using the free hit.

You make a valid point about the build up to 25 and that is something I need to consider more.

In isolation of the one week I think FH will be more effective than TC. However, I think there will be other valuable weeks to free hit and this will probably be the best for TC. In the end the game is about getting as many points as possible not maximising individual chips though. More information of BGW29 will be important before making a decision

Sorry, I wasn't very clear. I was trying to say think about what's more valuable
TC now + Free hit later
Free hit now + TC later
Rather than just thinking about which one is best in 25.

Hi Toney - already used (wasted) my BB so when I wildcard at least I won't need a strong bench. TC for me will probably be in double 37 or in 38 if I can hold it that long!! In 38 there always seems to be one or 2 players who score incredibly well (Kane springs to mind)

    Robertson

"Let's start with Robbo because he trained yesterday with the team. It's now 13 weeks, he had his meeting with the surgeon to make sure that everything is right to go into full contact – it's clear. So he did a lot of work and really good rehab throughout the last period, so he's fit in terms of sports science. Now he has to get fit with proper team training.

"So that's a big, big advantage to have him back. We were waiting for a long time – he's one of our captains. I just met him in the canteen and he said, 'Pep, I have my tracksuit with me!' So he's pushing himself into the squad, so that's good. He will travel [to Fulham].

"Speaking about Robbo, I have to speak about Joe [Gomez] because he used this opportunity. This guy, what he's doing this season and the levels he's reaching when he plays on the right and then he changes games and plays in the centre. Then he plays on the left and he's ready on the left on the outside but then he has to play inside from the left as well.

"He's a really good example of what we are all about. One player or even two players leave and then you have a lot of players who can play in different positions and that makes our squad so, so strong. He deserves the biggest compliment because he's probably one of the most consistent players in our team."

    Alexander-Arnold

"Trent is progressing well through his rehab, working hard – how he is as a guy, knowing how important the next weeks are. But he will back in the end of the week for team training, so hopefully he will be available for the FA Cup."

    Szoboszlai

"Dom trained yesterday with us, just one small-sided game, one-touch game, but played good, felt good, did some extra work with the sports science team. He is ready but tomorrow comes too early for him, so he will be ready for the weekend if nothing goes wrong."

    Tsimikas

"Kostas is now four weeks after surgery, so he needs probably two more weeks because we need to make sure that the bone is strong and the bone is healed before he goes into first-team training."

Pep Lijnders on Mo Salah injury: "The only reason our medical team and their medical team decided for him to come back is to give him the best possible chance to be available in the final [February 11] - if Egypt reach the final. The first message that came out that it would probably be only a few days, one week - then they made a detailed scan [showing] it is a proper tear in his hamstring it means that the expected return to play will be between three and four weeks, if everything goes smooth and everything goes right - Mo knowing it will go smooth and it will go right, because of how he treated his body before what I'm really happy about is that the medical team of Egypt and the medical team of Liverpool really worked together were really in close contact and both made this decision."

I'm leaning "yes" sell Salah, but it's not an obvious or quick decision where to move the money.

have Foden already, and not keen on Jota.

Bernado would be a wild punt, but flies in the face of my "valuable Man City spot" comment

I wouldn't be so sure. He could be back for the double and you would want him even if he only plays the second game. If you have him now you probably should probably hold him . What a huge advantage that would be. I get a feeling Mo will be back early. He's a machine

let me clarify "valuable" ... just in the City midfield alone you have Foden, Doku, Grealish, Bernado, Rodri .. and now KDB. 2 fantastic fwds, and add in Walker, Dias (albeit not recently). my point is that having more information about which of these players is closest to nailed is key, considering that all of them can do real damage in FPL.

Walker, Dias, Rodri...real damage in FPL?

and yes absolutely, many of these City assets have the capability to put up real numbers

I don't think so. They don't need to play mind games and I can't see that having happened. If something has happened, they downplayed the injury to give Egypt players mental boost. Klopp and Salah are morally above those lying PL managers we know too well.

Yeah he'll be back for gw25. I can feel it. As soon as he's fit he plays.

    Reasonable?

I'm nor sure if worth the hit. Jota a lot better than Havertz no doubt, but Havertz has a better fixture on paper

Doubt they'll rush him back in the starting XI but he's been training so could feature

I'd go Rich if not for Spurs having 3 games in 8 days - think he may get an early sub

      Probably Bowen from those

      Alvarez

Burnley at home, Kdb and Foden to feed him, also at this point no one expects anything from him, so the exact time for him to bounce back.

Alvarez could pay dividends. Rich probably won't see the full game out I don't think

I thought with such a long time between gameweeks I'd have an idea of what I want to do by now but genuinely have no idea...

    Areola Dubravka
    Porro Gabriel Estupinan Colwill Carlos
    Salah Saka Foden Richarlison Palmer
    Haaland Alvarez Watkins

    0.0m ITB, 1 FT

What do I do here? If Haaland is fit I guess roll FT? If he's not, I sell Salah for like Jota and then reassess? Kind of like Isak and Darwin. Darwin especially could be smart to get on early ahead of the likely DGW25.

Pretty similar position. Or not 😉 However, I have Garnacho and money, but need to decide whether to get 8 good attackers or keep the money for Haaland and Salah.

    B. Soucek (BOU)

    1. Areola (BOU)

Do you think if Haaland plays a decent amount of the spurs game that he will start Burnley and Brentford ?

City play Spurs in the Cup on Friday,
    Burnley on Wednesday
    Brentford on Monday

decent gaps but hes just coming back from injury.

I think if hes ready to go he gets maybe 20 in the Cup then 30 mins vs Burnley and another 30 vs Brentford then starts vs Everton.

Even that feels like too much football too soon maybe a rest in one of those league games, its not like city cant beat Burnley without him for example.

So what does he have to do in the cup for the wave of mass buys to happen for GW 22 ?

Does it make sense to maybe skip 22, 23 and get him in 24 ?

    What's the move here. 1FT & 5.8 ITB.
    Dubravka
    Mykolenko Gabriel Estupinan
    Saka Bruno KDB Foden Bowen
    Darwin Watkins
    (Udogie-Archer-Maguire)

    1. Too soon for Halland
    2. Deal with the Maguire switch?
    3. Anything else very wrong?
