Q.1) Is it worth selling Saka for KDB for the next 3 gameweeks?

Q.2) Is it worth selling Alvarez for Darwin for the next 3 gameweeks?

Somehow would rather say yes to 2) but ofc you have to consider Darwin being Darwin

      Alvarez looked too deep yesterday.

Pep has told KDB (especially whilst building up fitness) to be the central playmaker.

It almost they have swapped roles fro the GW1 team

Who gets benched from this front 6? Other 2 are KDB and Haaland

    Palmer (Palace away)
    Richarlison (Brighton home)
    Jota (Burnley home)
    Foden (Everton home)
    Watkins (Man united home)
    Adebayo (Sheffield home)

Trent, Trippier, Gabriel, Doughty, Branthwaite, plus Areola/Dubravka.

Would likely be benching Areola, Gab, Branthwaite of those

I am considering it Mentaculusif Eze was fit

Team atm is 2FT 4.0m ITB

        Raya (Turner- needs a FT)
        TAA, Porro, Moreno, (Estu, Gusto)
KDB, Foden, Saka, Eze (need Jota),Palmer
        Solanke, Alvarez, Watkins

Solanke, Alvarez, Turner to Dub, Adebayo and Haaland

Depending on FA Cup result maybe 25 would be better,, as Saka/Watkins can be Jota/Darwin. and may just do Eze to Barkley or Solanke to Adebayo this week (or Gusto to Doherty)

Not interest in Salah at all

Hi Lateriser, thanks for the article.
Is gw34 likely to be one of those weeks where some teams blank (FA cup semi-finalists?) yet other teams double (rearranged gw29 fixture)?

      Sounds like it

FA Cup SF is GW34 yeah (I checked the schedule), which will make it tricky to BB

Hmmm trying to come up with a chip strategy from tomorrow once Villa Chelsea is settled.
37 is too late to BB but could be FH.
34 is BBable (ugh) but probably requires wildcard closer to that week. Fixtures mean FH in 34 looks good with a wildcard in 27/29/30 but then BB would have to be played... pretty much now.
TC whenever then, I don't really ever care about that chip tbh.

I came to the same conclusion. Looking at the rough expected fixtures for GW34 and 37. BB34 gives a very ugly looking team. BB37 looks good but means all transfers after a WC30/1 are going to be focused on the BB, rather than bringing in optimal players. Also difficult to delay a WC if dead ending in 29.

      2. Worth noting as well (which I'm not sure anyone on FPL Twitter has picked up on) that one of the FA Cup semis may not be able to played GW35 - if two of Brighton, Liverpool and Villa reach the QFs in Europe and reach the semis of the FA Cup and are drawn in opposite semis, they almost certainly won't be able to play both semis that weekend as both will be unable to be played on the Saturday.

    Thanks mate, good read!

Trying to decide on the options below, currently have Haaland, Foden and TAA, any thoughts folks?

    1) one hit
    GW24: Darwin in
    GW25: Jota in

    2) two hits
    GW24: Jota and Adebayo in
    GW25: KDB in (TAA out)

FIrst time I've actually had a good look at potential chip usage and I may actually use bench boost in DGW25. GW34 will be awkward with the blanks, GW37 is generally not the best time either. Only likely problems are Estupiñan (who has a great fixture at Sheffield Utd but a question over him playing or not) and Olise who will probably be out (although given I have Pickford and Branthwaite that would be a good thing).

Estupiñan has turned into a bit of a nightmare to own - great fixtures and should be hauling, but these no-shows are highly frustrating lol

Such a shame for him, could have been prevented. I'll have to get rid but was looking at Garnacho as a potential replacement last week so I may go down that route but I need to start getting clued up on GW29 more because at the minute I have 1 player out of the games that are confirmed and another I expect will happen

I'm giving some serious thought to WC now and then BB 25. I'm not sure there is a better week to BB - as well as the doubles you have some nice fixtures for Brighton, Newcastle and Arsenal. The 26 and 29 blanks are a bit tricky, but manageable, I think.

Great article LR, very detailed. Doubles and blanks are a bit boring to me, they reduce the pool of players you want to choose from which is the fun of the first half of the season. You might enjoy watching a player and want him in your team but its pointless because he blanks or does not double. It becomes a spreadsheet exercise instead of a football one.

Most of the content is no more than football fans talking, and we all know how much football fans really know (very little). I tend to ignore 99% of it and I find I have a much better time playing FPL because my decisions (good and bad) are my own.

3 hits to set up team for GW24 and 25 - only need one of them to haul (and the transfers out to blank) over 3 games for it to pay off:
    Andersen > Gomez
    Saka > Jota
    Watkins > Toney
    Save FT next GW.

So essentiall over 2 vs 3 games do Andersen, Saka, Watkins do 12 points worse than Gomez, Jota, Toney

Sometimes I like to come back to last weeks posts and just enjoy the hubris of such strongly stated opinions. Alvarez was deeper, less effective; Foden was wider, didn’t have half as much effect; Haaland did haul, because man’s a beast. Just shows sometimes punts work, but it evens out in the long run

seems to be so many narratives spilling over from last season that dont apply to city this season like foden out wide, alarez much deeper and both not nailed..i think its clear what pep is doing and he even said it after the game haaland is allowing foden and alvarez to come way more centrally, so even though foden supposedly on left he was central most of the game and we saw the results. what i saw last night was haaland being a lot like giroud in his arsenal days in terms of ball played to his feet he holds it up and lays it off to supporting attackers like alvarez and foden (see his third goal), so even if alvarez is a bit deeper he's still getting chances just outside or inside the box .. i think the tactics from last season where it was just find erling are long gone or certainly not being used as much

Pep said that about Haaland in the context of occupying the CBs of Brentford in particular I thought. Not saying it won't happen again but sounded like it was a tactic specifically for them. Probably explains the ultra attacking lineup too (which he also suggested at a few weeks ago when talking about how he could see Foden, KDB and Alvarez playing together against a back 5)

Yes, but its also dependent on using Gvardiol and Walker to overlap / hold width. Return of Stones could perhaps shift that again. Still, there's definitely a shift in how Haaland is used so maybe my default assumption of - post-DGW - keeping Haaland & ditching the others might be worth thinking about

It's only not being fit that would stop him from starting isn't it?

Barnes looked decent, but yeah would expect Gordon to remain first choice for now

Not sure Barnes is ready to start games yet. xMins certainly unknown when Howe has Barnes, Gordon, Miggy and Murphy vying for the WF spots

Similar issues to me, I do really want Jota this week as a captain option. Not sure about losing saka though. D might be the most sensible this week

You prefer capping Jota over the city attackers?
