Watch out for RAN news, and you'd want Cunha to be definitely starting by GW34 whilst e.g Mateta doesn't have that risk
Keep 2 FTs for GW34 itself so use 1 and roll 1 in GW33?

Mateta is tempting but wolves fixtures in the dgw are too tempting. I’m pretty sure Cunha starts by then if he stays fit. Same with RAN, hopefully just a niggle and is ok by the dgw. Cheers bud.

That top score seems really low. I'm 8th in my ML with a score of 52. I thought I might have a chance at manager of the week but the guy who's top is on 81 pts with KdB (c), Watkins and Pickford...

This is the first time after many seasons we actually have different teams towards the end of the season. Usually by this stage it's only a couple of players different. This season both players and chips have provided variation

Yes, Wildcard GW 35 will bring many teams back together (as happens every season). A little variation depending on whether holding or chasing, but generally will be similar.

Just watched the highlights of Wolves v West Ham and the commentator referred to a "subjective offside". I have watched football for about 45 years, but have never heard that expression ever. As an inquisitive and intelligent, but often self righteous, person, i felt obliged to investigate. I just googled it and was somewhat surprised by what i found. There is a Thesis from Dave Thistle, who studied Theory at the University of Studies back in the decade. For information, the strict definition is "a decision designed to annoy fans, despite the fact that there was not even a problem to fix". The paper continues.."any attempt by football authorities to stamp out pathetic rules that destroy the national sport should be ignored at the top management level". I was surprised by this, but i always bow down to those who are experts in the field, so fair play to the ref on this occasion!

What the heck has Gary O'Neil and Ian Wright been smoking?

You can't stand rooted right in front of a goalkeeper in an offside position obscuring his view and preventing him from advancing forward and think you are not impeding him in any way.

I’m inclined to think you’re right. Being ahead of the defensive line is gaining an advantage and to use that to stop him move forward restricts the goalie from getting closer to Kilman or catching the ball.

The rules seem slightly ambiguous as I saw it though

Precisely. He's doing all that while in an offside position. How O'Neill can personally insult the officials is beyond me.

The problem with this 'interfering with play' nonsense, is that you are effectively asking the keeper and defenders to judge if a player is off or onside. What should the keeper do if a player is near them? Ignore them as they are offside, or cover the potential involvement just in case they are onside? It's the job of the linesman. Offside is offside, a player is always interfering with player as they will divert the attention of the defence, even if it is briefly. An offside player can affect the outcome of a passage of play, regardless of their position.

      1. Tommy Template

why do keepers get special protection with these sort of offsides? Players stand offside all the time but aren't deemed to be interfering with play, but they are a distraction to defenders, some of them are the intended recipient of a pass etc. We've seen a few decisions down the years where the attacking player is 100% interfering with play, thinking of the Bruno goal vs City the other season, there was one I recall where a defender has played the ball because there is an attacker offside close by and then because the defender played the ball they are deemed onside. The key bit with this goal is if you use common sense there is no chance Fabianski is saving it.

The defenders represent the offside line so if theyre close they’re either in front and onside or interfering with play and offside. If they’re away from the defender that’s a separate argument; this case was about a player who was restricting the goalie’s movement

I should have gone in gw23 or 24 really.

10 double digit bench points for me but it's more a factor of soft pricing I guess.

And players like Cash hauling early on.

Just playing one of those early hauls would likely have halved my rank.

    Just a thought/question:

Salah is a waste of money. If you can't return on Sheffield at Home and get subbed with the game tied, then he's still hurt from AFCON. Basically, Klopp told all us FPL holders, I don't think Salah has a goal or assist in him.

I have to get rid of Salah unless he shows me something versus MU

He’s a waste of money until he gets a load of goals. He’s certainly not short on getting shots in; wasn’t last match a record? There’s every chance other options score better in the last 7 matches but Salah is a proven goal scorer and you take the risk of missing a haul.

With Utd’s defensive issues, it could well be today

I'm seeing what could be the end of football as we know it?

    1. VAR- starting to ruin our simple game we all love / we cannot celebrate a goal properly in the stadiums anymore,
games now going on past the 90 min make. There must be an easier way to deal with time
    wasting during the game.

    2. 'Financial Fair Play' - why all of a sudden points deductions being applied (mid-season),
why suddenly the Premier League making these decisions this year & then looking to change next year,
if it is to be applied should be at the start when all side know.
This could open up a huge can of worms & our beloved football no more.
If contested in the courts - teams missing out on promotions or teams relegated
will contest against situation if a team (Suppose to be guilty)

Or is this what the Premier League want to pull away from the football league?
If going back years then this legal decision could be made against any outcome in the league.

    1. Eze Really?
      • 11 Years
      1 year, 8 months ago

When you rule yourselves it will always be a disaster.
Fulham and Everton punished by their rivals.
18 other sides have an easier and more rewarding job after points deductions.
      Independent committees required from government.
An finally, do not change basic accounting principals. Laughable thinking the PL can have different ones.
Everton deserve to be in shxt; not by the rules applied though.

Fair comments & agree with the way it has been handle totally wrong.

100% hope Everton survive - I feel justice if you can call it that wrong.

I have fingers cross no more points deductions this season for Everton
& look forward to them with a new stadium to complete with Liverpool
in the city again like the -mid 1980's.

Its like using Everton/Forest in a pawn to aim at Man City later on but the
whole structure is corrupt - I never thought I would think we could be
like FIFA (Sepp Blatter) & act like https://www.britannica.com/event/2015-FIFA-corruption-scandal
the way the Premier League have acted & then looking to change next season again...

      B.

Arsenal’s defensive record is awesome. Toss up for the midfielders; I’d add MacAllister into that as well but Díaz is a good shout.

    Which switch would u do?

    2FT

    Neto (Areola)
    Gabriel Udogie Reguilon (Daughty, Smith)
    Salah Havertz Son Madd Palmer
    Darwin Toney (Watkins)

    a) Son, Watkins -> Haaland, Sarabia
    b) Madd -> Foden
    c) Son, Madd, Watkins -> Haaland, Sarabia, Mbuemo/Diaz (-4pts)
    d) Madd, Udogie -> Saka, Bradley

What are you doing for GW34?

Assuming you’re not FH, Son and Maddison to Díaz and Sarabia looks good?

What would you do with 2FT here? 1.6 ITB WC35

    Neto
    Gabriel Saliba Bradley
    Salah Saka Foden Son Palmer
    Darwin Solanke

    Turner Watkins Branthwaite Coufal

    A. Use 2FT to get Haaland back. (Watkins and Son to Haaland and Sarabia)
    B. Improve defence ( Coufal to Ait Nouri)
    C. Something else

It's all about luck I think.

Bought Foden and benched Saka. 1st sub.

    Played Watkins

    And capt Haaland.

Was gonna change things but missed the deadline.

    62 pts in the end.

Havertz and McAllister been gold for me last few weeks and I can see both continuing their form right to season end

These are my two moves for Son and Palmer over the next two. Mac’s stats are top despite his modest price

I'm locked out of Havertz because I have Saka White Gabriel. I can't find reliable defenders to replace Gabriel, while I've got multiple options who can replace Son anyway, so that brings me to... Son to Mac Allister to face Palace

And then I'm locked out of Darwin for GW34 because I'd have Salah Mac Allister Kelleher... So that brings me to Muniz + Kelleher > Darwin + Pickford with 2 FTs and then BB

      Hopefully without more flags

Utd will be one of the most important games of the year and I think Darwin is first choice. I’d be surprised if he’s dropped for this one

    Rayan Ait-Nouri update:

    """
Fortunately, O’Neil has revealed via the Wolves official website that he wanted to take him off before his calf pain got any worse.

“He’s got a sore calf. He’s got some pain in his calf and it was a big bow,” O’Neil said. “But we wanted to take him off before it got any worse and hopefully he’ll be ok for next week.”'

I’m trying to maintain a BB34 team but uncertainty over RAN, Richards and Kerkez minutes (the latter I’m just running on blind faith) are making it difficult

Yeah, that's rough. I find it difficult to pivot to BB37 because it's hard to see reliable defensive returns there... A bench boost this season is mostly to get more defenders (I always bench two defenders and a GK), so I'm trying to time that right

            Good luck 🙂

    A) Mateta
    B) Cunha

    A or B guys?

    Thanks

I'd rather play Muniz vs West Ham than Mateta vs Liverpool or Cunha before a start

Cool I won't be starting Mateta for GW 33 if I was to get him. Will BB gw 34

Okay, but see if you can delay the move by one more GW and play/bench Muniz. His stats are still up there, I think

If you've got 2 FTs and need to burn one, then Mateta because he faces two shaky defences (if we're sure he starts both)

I’d wait for pressers (or another week) on Cunha? He’s only just come back and it’s difficult to know if he’ll be on form

Mateta is on form but has a tough game next; can you bench him or wait a week?

Yeah will do, I'll wait on news on Cunha, thanks guys.
