Michael Laudrup has high hopes for Danny Graham after the former Watford man racked up the pre-season goals for Swansea. Roberto Mancini reveals Emmanuel Adebayor won’t feature for City this season, Daniel Agger is keen to stay at Liverpool, Stephane Sessegnon remains a doubt for Sunderland’s trip to the Emirates, while Wigan snap up Ryo Miyaichi on loan from Arsenal:

Michael Laudrup is expecting a big season from Danny Graham after the forward’s recent scoring exploits in pre-season. The former Watford man has netted six times in his last three matches and, with a strong opening schedule for the campaign ahead, his mid-price valuation across the Fantasy games has earned him a place in many a team right now. The new Swansea boss reckons Graham should comfortably surpass last season’s debut Premier League haul of 12 – a sign of his faith in the forward’s ability and a clear indication he is content with him leading the line:

“Every day the connection between Danny and Michu looks better and better and we can expect a lot from them. I don’t know what Danny’s record is, but if he stays fit I would say he can score between 15 and 20 goals in the Premier League.”

While there are concerns about Swansesa’s ability to match their defensive output from last season, suddenly there seems to be renewed confidence in their goal-getting. Graham’s pre-season form has been eye-catching, while Michu is an option that many have considered in the hope that he can translate his La Liga goal record to the Premier League. The opener at Loftus Road could be a tough start for the Swans, but there’s no denying that things improve markedly and that they have one of the easiest openings to the season. Cover of Swansea’s attacking potential looks to be a decent option, then.

Roberto Mancini also admitted there is no way back for Emmanuel Adebayor at City for the season ahead. The Togo international had been expected to move to Spurs this summer after a hugely successful loan spell at the London outfit in 2011/12 but his allegedly extortionate wage demands have subsequently stalled any possible move so far. While he’s keen to offload the former Arsenal man, Mancini revealed he has plenty faith in the forwards who played last season – a clear hint that Edin Dzeko is set to stay, despite recent reports linking the Bosnian with a move away:

“I am sorry for him because he is here and not playing. But he has no chance of playing this season for us. It’s important for him that he can find a good solution because he scored a lot of goals last season and he’s a top striker. I hope for him he can find a good solution very quickly….I still have confidence in the four strikers. They scored 70 goals between them last season. They will all stay.”

Mancini’s options up front are set to be a key concern for Fantasy managers. There’s little doubt that we’ll see Mario Balotelli make an impression on the new season – just how he is rotated with Sergio Aguero and, in particular, Carlos Tevez, is a key concern. Edin Dzeko is another part of the equation, although Fantasy managers will be hoping he’s restricted to a cameo role. Inevitably, however, he’ll get some pitch time.

Wigan yesterday acquired the services of Arsenal’s Ryo Miyaichi on a season-long loan deal. The Japanese youngster flourished briefly during a temporary stint at Bolton last season and is immediately back under the radar of Fantasy managers due to a kind pricing across the Fantasy games – he comes in at 5.0 in Fantasy Premier League (FPL). With Jean Beausejour and Emmerson Boyce looking odds-on to nail down the wide roles in Wigan’s 3-4-2-1, the new boy is expected to provided plenty competition for Victor Moses and Shaun Maloney in the more advanced midfield roles and could well prove to be a prominent member of Roberto Martinez’s first-team this term if Moses’ proposed move to Chelsea goes through.

Miyaichi’s spell at Bolton drew some interest from Fantasy managers last term, who were rewarded with modest returns. The playmaker displayed plenty of creativity, however and, under Roberto Martinez, there’s every chance we’ll see that come to the fore. The departure of Moses is key to his potential – should Martinez retain the services of the former Palace man, then Miyaichi will seemingly be vying for starts with Maloney, denting the potential of both players.

Martin O’Neill has reportedly stated that full-back Phil Bardsley could be out for “a good while†with the ankle injury sustained in pre-season training. Meanwhile, the suggestion is that Stephane Sessegnon will be available for the trip to Arsenal, despite missing the pre-season programme. O’Neill will surely be concerned on his match fitness, however.

Bardsley’s absence could see John O’Shea moved to the full-back area, though Ahmed Elmohamady has been handed a role there by O’Neill in recent matches. It’s got to be said that Sunderland’s pre-season form has been simply woeful; the possible absence of Stephane Sessegnon would just compound matters and will see Martin O’Neill’s side travel to the Emirates with low confidence and bereft of a cutting edge. Short-term Fantasy investment in the Arsenal back four, with Carl Jenkinson (4.5) looking a likely starter at right-back, could be an option worth exploring, then.

O’Neill also revealed Simon Mignolet has stiff competition for a place between the posts from Kieren Westwood this season. The Belgian was the Black Cats’ first-choice in the second half of last term but Westwood has impressed his manager in pre-season and could well push for a starting berth, with O’Neill telling the local press:

“We’re really strong in goal with the two of them here – there’s good competition for places, which is great. They’re two international goalkeepers, and I’m in a good position on that score. Keiren was unlucky when he was ill, Simon came in and did wonderfully well. It has been Simon’s position since. Keiren now thinks he might get a game with Ireland, and Simon with Belgium, although he has competition there. But it’s good to have the two.”

Daniel Agger has admitted he is keen to reject the advances of City and stay at Liverpool. Having acquired Jack Rodwell at the weekend, Mancini has been keen to add the Dane to the Etihad ranks, with Agger’s versatility and ball-playing ability at the back perhaps earmarked with the recent 3-4-1-2 formation in mind but, when asked about City’s interest, the centre-half seemed determined to dig his heels in and remain at Anfield:

“No, I haven’t heard anything. That is how the club wants to do it. I would prefer to stay. I can’t imagine playing for other clubs in England. But, you never know if the club prefers to sell me.”

Agger will surely be crucial to Liverpool’s defensive output this season and there will be keen interest in their back four if we can detect Brendan Rodgers has translated his possession football to Anfield. Agger will surely be identified by Rodgers as a ball carrying centre-back, playing a similar role as Ashley Williams for Rodgers’ Swansea last term. That will ensure that Agger will be a key performer in the Sky Sports game, whilst his threat from set-plays will likely draw interest if he can stay fit and the clean sheets start flowing. Arguably, there are better options in Rodgers’ back four – certainly the full-backs Glen Johnson and Jose Enrique will start earning investment if they are to handed more advanced roles: Enrique at 6.0 looks to be the preferred option. There’s no doubt, however, that both will benefit from Agger’s stay at Anfield.

Dont want a RMT but thought i'd post my latest concotion. Pretty happy with it after weeks of tinkering and if it helps anyone in any way then why not.

    Gone for...

    Federici / (Friedel)

    Vermaelen // A Cole // R Taylor // Fabio // (Cuellar)

    Kagawa // Siggurdson // Nolan // (Britton)

    Holt // Torres // Tevez

With 2.0 in the bank to do the Torres / Rooney swap.

In Goal, Friedel and Federici appeals to me, as Tottenham have a very kind run of opponents after the Newcastle (a) game, and Federici has this lovely DGW that should at least guarantee him some points in GW1. I was tempted by De Gea, but having 3 united players for GW2, With Uniteds standard slow start to the campaign made me feel a bit uneasy. I like this combination, and it should be fine for quite a while. Friedel is an excellent shot stopper, and i expect Spurs to actually be quite resolute under AVB. This pairing could chance however is Spurs sign a new keeper.

I was willing to splash the cash a bit on my defence this year, I was weighing up Vidic or Vermalen as my big hitting defender, but I think Vermaelen carries a bit more goal threat with his rocket shot, and if he stays fit, he could really be in amongst the goals this season and I believe will be one of the top scoring defenders in the game. Ashley Cole is a safe bet with the DGW, and with R Taylor potentially playing OOP and Fabio and Cuellar being very decently priced, there selection seems sound.

In defence ive gone a bit more risky, Kagawa and Siggurdson represent gambles, but I know how much quality Kagawa possess and i Think he's going to be the heartbeat of the team along with Rooney this year. I very strongly rate Siggurdson also, I know his output could be limited by VDV, but he is an extremely explosive and talented player, and Spurs have a very kind run of games so I want to at least give him a chance and see if he can perform at the level he did last year. Nolan and Pienaar to me, are no brainers. These are players that can explode in any given game week and if goals come for their teams, they are more than likely going to be part of it. Ive gone for Nolan over Noble, despite many people choosing the latter, simply because I know what he can do, he can drag the team up and smash in a goal, and is more than capable of quite a few 10+ weeks. My 5th midfielder, Britton, is unfortunately bench fodder. I dont expect any points from him in any given GW, but I believe i have the other players to compensate for this, and can always make transfers is necessary. His involvement means I have been able to gather the resources to strengthen the other areas of my team, so he is playing his part, although I know how important subs are in this game... he is doing his bit.

Up front, Tevez and Torres seems pretty logical to me. Tevez is looking sharp, and should share the points with Aguero. At 9.0 though, he is impossible to ignore surely? I had him a few years ago and he almost single handledly won me all my mini leagues. I hope for the same this year, and as he only has 12% ownership at this time of writing, why not?! Torres as well seems perfect for this DGW, two winnable games, assured of starts and looking good after the euros, my (c) for sure. However, he will be making way for Rooney, who has served me so well in the past and in my opinion is one of the most perfect fantasy players - the main man in the team, who assists and takes penalties. What more could you ask for.

Holt is a slightly different prospect, Many are going for Graham / Petric or Pogrebnyak, however with no real certainty over how Swansea are going to do, without seeing Petric play and with funds availble to upgrade Pog, I think Holt looks a really good buy this year. He is capable of scoring in any game and is by far Norwiches main man.He should easily hit 10+ goals this year, maybe even 15+ and what more can you want from your budget striker?

So there you go, my team and rundown. Many of you will disagree, but I feel pretty happy with it atm. Hope all youre teams are coming along nicely and good luck to you all!

Haha well its pretty much my only post on here, and its my day off so why not, getting pretty bored of RMT's, think it would be better if people just posted their teams with justifications.. so people can be like.. "good point! I'll think about him for my team!" rather than just kick off and have a go at them for putting punts in.

I'll probably be 1,000,000 in the world after GW1 like i was last year anyway, but who knows. If anyone even remotely enjoyed reading it then it was worth it 😛

Good post. Nice to read your views on things. The team looks solid, however Raylor will face limited game time. If you want a nufc defender who also is a goal threat, take a look at Saylor for 0.5m less. Kagawa and Roo could have a grat season, but watch out for RVP, he could affect them both. I've personally gone for Guthrie as benchfodder. Much more attacking than Britton, not that I'm planning on using him much, but still...

Could someone who knows please give guidance about price rises/drops. What criteria are used?

    1) Transfers in/out of a player (e.g. £0.1m per 10k in/out)?
    2) Transfers in/out of a player as a percentage of ownership (e.g. £0.1m per % ownership change)?
    3) Transfers in/out of a player as a percentage of transfers in/out of all players (e.g. Graham is transferred in by 10000 people, all players transferred in by all people total 1000000. Graham's transfers are 1% of total, so his price rises by £0.1m)?

Price rises are based on the same arbitrary number for all players, about 20-30k. Price falls are approximately 10% reduction in ownership.

    Rafael, Hangeland, Fabio
    Nani, Yaya, Bale, McClean
    Tevez, Torres, Pissé

Nani and Rafael are my only concerns at the minute but Nani's been much better than Ashley Young in pre-season and Rafael should play with our defensive frailties.. Thoughts much appreciated. Cheers chaps.

Surprised at the lack of Nani in RMT's. He is a bargain at 9.0, nailed on with Valencia at RB and is a only owned by 6% of teams.

+1 - went with Nani early last year, and he is very inconsistent. You are looking at returns anywhere between 3 and 15! but mostly 3. for 9.0 that's too much risk.

Maybe, it's not very clear. HRK isn't necessarily going to start both (or either) games, whereas Guthrie probably will.

Once again, Maximerized, it's not fair on other users to misconstrue people's comments like this. It isn't definitely going to happen.

I mentioned a couple of pages back that Inter are expecting a decision from Spurs by Thursday as to whether they want to sign Julio Cesar. If so, one of the options on the table would be an exchange with either Lennon or Sandro. That's it for the moment.

But it's an open secret that AVB is trying to sign another keeper - Spurs were after Lloris until put off by the price.

If RVP moves to united is more likely to happen?

    a) RVP will share the Man Utd goals and bonus with Rooney. Man utds overall goals increase a little, but neither striker will score more than 15-20 goals. If this is the case, I don't think that either will justify the price tag.

    b) Both strikers will score 20+ goals, many being assisted the other, so either/ or will be well worth the price tag

    c) Rooney will set up loads of goals for RVP, who will score 40 odd, with Rooney only getting around 10.

If I decide that Rooney's output will be negatively affected by RVP, should I bother getting him after all. And if i don't, should I bother with risking rotation heartache with aguero? The main attraction of getting them is that they work perfectly as a captain team. Not sure if aguero is worth it on his own

      d) Rooney will bag 20+ goals, with RVP watching from the treatment table.

RMT please, think this is the final one:
    Bego (Jussi)
Zabaleta | Hughes | Demel (Cuellar | Fonte)
Bale | Yaya | Kagawa | Kacaniklic (Pienaar)
    Rooney | Torres | Tevez

Strategy. Heavy hitters uo top, then I can easily downgrade the midfieldes that aren't performing to a 6.5'er, and then upgrade a defender.
