Back for a new season, with “sailing fan” Granville now woken from his Olympic dream, we return for another podcast after a three-month hiatus.

While some of the regulars are shelved this week, we talk over the Sky Sports Game, welcome new Fantasy Football double act “Fenners & Merse” and start the clear up after Robin Van Persie kicked over the applecart.

The episode is underpinned by a new concept – the idea that Granville and I can join forces and actually be effective. The premise is we pick a ScoutCast XI and cross our beams to co-manage it over the season, arguing the toss in every ScoutCast episode on transfers and substitutions. The aim is harmony and a united success. It seems unlikely to end that way.

Oh, and there are actually two of my “jokes” that Granville misses in this episode – see if you can make out the second. I swear he was dreaming of gold medals in the sailing.

        pretty much what everyone has said but let me add that he was left behind when his team went to training very very early pre season and then with the closest pre-season training camp he pulled himself out and hasn't gone. Kinda similar to the modric happenings

      Good team mate. I'm not backing QPR defensively but you don't get much for 4.5 at the back except Cuellar and possibly Hughes if he starts.

    Anyone playing the Sky Sports game? I am struggling with these rules particularly the following:

    “In order to be eligible for scoring, transfers must be made before the earliest kick off that day; transfers made after the earliest kick off will start scoring from the next day. For example: If you transfer in Rooney before the earliest kick off on Saturday he will be eligible to score points immediately. If you transfer him in after the earliest kick off on Saturday, he will be eligible to score points from Sunday’s matches”

    So is this like McDonalds? If I have Aguero playing on a Sat and I don’t like his points, I can transfer him fro Rooney playing on a Sunday and take his points instead?

    Also it states “Game weeks run first kick-off Saturday to Friday.” If this is the case why is Chelsea v Reading not included in gameweek 1. They don’t do DGWS?

    Also it says there is a maximum of 1 captain change per GW. Does that mean I can change my captain from a Sat to someone on a Sun.

      i understood it as cumulative. you get aguero's points then rooney's....
      and one captain change from sat to sat - if you changed to capt to rooney for monday then he would also be capt for the following w/e... hmmm not sure now

    Right getting close to a final squad. Need to just find a 5th midfielder for 4.5m. As I already have 3 Chelsea and a Reading player it can't be Robson-Kanu or Guthrie. Any suggestions?

    I'm looking at Marveaux, Frei, El Ahmadi or maybe even Kacaniklic?! :/ Can anyone tell me who is the best bet out of those is - or any other 4.5m option obviously. Will need to start up until GW3 at least for the chel/rdg blank. Cheers!

    Fantasy Premier League 2012/13 is now up and running. I have set up a mini league for anyone interested in entering. Its £20 to enter the mini league and the entry fee must be paid by 21st Sept or your team will be removed from the league.

    Its been a very close comp the last 2 years with myself just falling short of Evs on both occasions but Im sure Ill take him this time If you fancy your chances this season the feel free to give it a go. Winner was £200+ least season with 2nd taking £150 so hopefully even bigger prizes this season.
