Back for a new season, with “sailing fan” Granville now woken from his Olympic dream, we return for another podcast after a three-month hiatus.

While some of the regulars are shelved this week, we talk over the Sky Sports Game, welcome new Fantasy Football double act “Fenners & Merse” and start the clear up after Robin Van Persie kicked over the applecart.

The episode is underpinned by a new concept – the idea that Granville and I can join forces and actually be effective. The premise is we pick a ScoutCast XI and cross our beams to co-manage it over the season, arguing the toss in every ScoutCast episode on transfers and substitutions. The aim is harmony and a united success. It seems unlikely to end that way.

Oh, and there are actually two of my “jokes” that Granville misses in this episode – see if you can make out the second. I swear he was dreaming of gold medals in the sailing.

Listen in on the squad selection via this link.

Alternatively, stream it down your pipe using the player below…

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Noble for penalties, fixtures and price.

Maloney for penalties (if Gomez isn't on), decent enough fixtures, end of last season form and price.

          Rafael or Jones, imo.

Sure, rest would be nice for Rafa ... but SAF won't want to deprive his forwards - whoever they are - from Valencia's service. Rest is a luxury - if Jones can't go, Rafa will be pressed into service. IMO, of course.

Final piece of the puzzle. Maybe!

    A) Cazorla + Graham (benched GW1)
    B) Michu (benched GW1) + Podolski

I'm leaning towards Podolski for the Sunderland game over Cazorla. Are people starting Graham against QPR and benching a cheap mid?

Why Terry? You could have Cole A for .5 cheaper, and they should score around the same amount of points. Also I don't love QPR's first few fixtures so Fabio may not be the best option unless you plan to rotate him. Good mid, but I don't love Taarbat. Your strikers are good but do you think Tevez will be better in the first six gameweeks than someone like Jelavic? Otherwise, a very good team in my opinion.

I have no idea about Michu, Eric. I've probably never seen him play but his record is very good, he played for Laudrup at Malaga and Swansea are a steady club. He's "in the hole" for a hopefully more attacking side with great fixtures so what's not to like?
Djerbil is as daft as a brush but with a bit of luck he'll score a few before he gets sent off.

Couple of boring cheap defender dilemmas:

    1) Clark (AVL) or Cuellar
    2) Demel or Clyne?

      Clark for the goal threat.

Clyne as i think he's more nailed on.

Clark rotates better with Hughes, too. I though Demel was fairly nailed, who is his competition?

Oh, i have no idea about. Just remember a couple west ham fans saying McCartney was more nailed on and apparently Reid can play RB.

Hmmm, I've heard the opposite! Sounds like Clyne is likely to play, and gets forward a bit too I think.

Think I'm leaning towards Clark and Demel for better rotation (I think).

Why not, I think QPR will keep more cleanies than Clyne.

I should mention that I've seen a couple of others suggest that Nelsen will not be a starter too.

Fed, the rotation looked better when I checked it. Incidentally Friedel rotates even better with Fed, but the possible Lloris transfer is a question mark. If Lloris is 5.5 you could do the same with him.
