Back for a new season, with “sailing fan” Granville now woken from his Olympic dream, we return for another podcast after a three-month hiatus.

While some of the regulars are shelved this week, we talk over the Sky Sports Game, welcome new Fantasy Football double act “Fenners & Merse” and start the clear up after Robin Van Persie kicked over the applecart.

The episode is underpinned by a new concept – the idea that Granville and I can join forces and actually be effective. The premise is we pick a ScoutCast XI and cross our beams to co-manage it over the season, arguing the toss in every ScoutCast episode on transfers and substitutions. The aim is harmony and a united success. It seems unlikely to end that way.

Oh, and there are actually two of my “jokes” that Granville misses in this episode – see if you can make out the second. I swear he was dreaming of gold medals in the sailing.

    It all comes down to this: Bale or Mata?

    I have no Spurs players but do have Torres. Both have advantages - Mata starts with a DGW of easy games whilst Bale actually plays in GW3. Opinions?

    .5 mil left in the bank, anyone have any advice? I have not adjusted my team since the whole RVP to United thing, but I am not sure that I need too. Any and all help would be appreciated!

    1 question though, with the .5 mil I have left over, would it be better to upgrade Jelavic to Tevez, Yaya to Nasri, or neither??? And if I swap Jelavic with Tevez, should I keep Yaya?

    Torres and Tevez might just turn out to be season keepers which would obviously be bad news for aguero/RVP/Rooney lovers. 9m for a regular starting striker at city and 10m for the ONLY striker at Chelsea? I so hope Torres is on deadly form this season

      im thinking the same, only worry is how to get pog upgraded to a big gun with only 3m thinking if i can find an extra .5 then its an easy upgrade to podolski, jelavic or ba (think carroll might have been 8.5as well)

      No offence but I wouldn't dream of picking half them players. Downgrade Krul or Vorm to a £4.5 such as Federici, downgrade your last 3 defenders to something like £5 £4.5 £4 (Hangeland Cuellar & Clyne for example) also get rid of Chamberlaine and Walters and try to get some Chelsea coverage for the DGW.

        start by presenting your team in a way people will read and dont worry about the prices, the majority of people on here have encyclopaedic minds knowing players starting price's from up 2 4 seasons ago.

      chelsea. double game week.
      free up some cash by downgrading 2 of those defenders, spend it in improving your midfield.
      make sure your keepers rotate well.
      make sure you have some cash left over if and when you get tired of pog.

      A) VDV is more nailed on than people think and obv hangeland is far more nailed on than hughes. VDV also had a point per game higher than Bale last season 😉

          The thing is you'd definitely go for a Unite mid GW2 due to fixtures. But you already have Citeh coverage. To me it makes sense, Arsenal came 3rd last year, they should win most of the time regardless of fixtures

      If you're going to wildcard early then why not gw3 so you can get rid of chelsea players for free while they have no games. This would also allow for 3 chelsea players with DGWs

      Zab= safest but even then maybe not all that regularly....Mancini only used 21 players last season and that was because of rotation allowing for players to stay fit and not get injured

      i like it a lot, in fact your midfield will be the same as mine bar guthrie for GW2!

      I'd probably downgrade Hang and Aguero to Hughes and Tev 2 free up £3M so u could either upgrade Torres to Rooney GW2 or maybe swap Ramires for Mata/Lamps

    Anyone a fan of the Jaask/Mignolet rotation?

    Just digging, and for the first 10 you get

    AVL, RDG, FUL, nor, SUN, WIG, ARS, SOT, wig, AVL

    If I was at all confident of West Ham's clean sheet potential, this would be a winner for me (the obvious flaw being the Arsenal fixture). Anyone found better?

        Wasn't aware of that. Finding the goalies the most difficult position to fill this time. Checkek a few more weeks, and this rotation works pretty well further on. I reckon Sunderland will be tight at the back, so if Mig was nailed on Id be sold.

          80% I would think. They sold their best defender in the last couple of months of last season in Turner. No Bardsley to start with either

      nice team similar to mine id be wary of begovic as he may rotate and so may ddg so go a nailed on keeper. and please dont go young!!
