Back for a new season, with “sailing fan” Granville now woken from his Olympic dream, we return for another podcast after a three-month hiatus.

While some of the regulars are shelved this week, we talk over the Sky Sports Game, welcome new Fantasy Football double act “Fenners & Merse” and start the clear up after Robin Van Persie kicked over the applecart.

The episode is underpinned by a new concept – the idea that Granville and I can join forces and actually be effective. The premise is we pick a ScoutCast XI and cross our beams to co-manage it over the season, arguing the toss in every ScoutCast episode on transfers and substitutions. The aim is harmony and a united success. It seems unlikely to end that way.

Oh, and there are actually two of my “jokes” that Granville misses in this episode – see if you can make out the second. I swear he was dreaming of gold medals in the sailing.

      Solid team. Only suggestions would be minor. Oh go on then.

      With Micah seemingly out for 10 weeks, I'd go with Zabs over Nasri. Also, Pienaar has 3 toughish fixtures to start with.

      Maybe Boyce, Nasri, Pienaar -> Zabaleta, VDV/Santi & Guthrie/Maloney

        hmmm. lemme look into this. I was planning on probably dumping ivanovic for zabs/lescott gw 2 or 3 though. and not sure if i want two cheap mids.... plus I think nasri should do well in the hole for the first couple gw before silva comes back.

        but like I said i'll look into it a bit more. thanks for the suggestion mate!

    G'morning all. I was wondering who people considered to be the best 5.5 midfielder outside of Wigan? I've got Noble in at the moment but don't feel particularly inspired by the choice.

        I've already got Miyachi for Wigan & two from there would be a bit excessive. Due to RVP going to United I'm scrapping getting Rooney in gw2 and just getting United coverage for midfield instead, even though the rotation will cause a few tears before bedtime come this Monday.

          I think maloney is a better pick than miyachi at this point in time from wigan though they will probably both be rotated. unless the moses deal goes through

          On that note, I don't think the output you will get for Dyer will justify his price tag. It probably sounds absurd, but at 6.0 million, Graham guarantees you goals and assists. Dyer could very well come off with a 2 pointer more often than not.. I'd look towards Noble for a decent 5.0 midfielder. He'll score more than Dyer IMO.

        Podolski is more likely to score than not.

        I don`t like Mata or Ramires in my team. Would rather go for Lampard.

        Also, even though I`m a Spurs fan I feel like having both VDV and Bale is overkill. New manager and still no striker... I`m considering Lennon/Bale though and might do it, just feel like Bale/VDV is a little bit too exp, also consider he will probably be rotated with Sigurdsson.

      honestly i think the extra points you could get from investing that 3m would at least make up a 4pt hit. plus you may need to wait another week for rooney/rvp. not clear if rvp will start or how much he'll play. may need to wait til gw 2 to evaluate

        Defenders include 1 4.5 mil Ivan and 3 4mils
        midfield- 1 big hitter, 1 6.5, 2- 5mil mids.
        Big hitters up front.

      Lamps is short term I think so I'd go with b. however either is ok as for those prices 9 + 6.5 there is plenty of options for straight swaps

                Idea is not bad, I just dont know if I want to spend transfers on defenders so early in the season. Much more need in getting United/Tott attacking cover in up front

      doosra says go demel. i think mccartney is more cemented, but hes coming off injury and i dont think he offer anything outside of the rare WHM CS, whereas Demel at least offers some attacking potential.
