How is your Fantasy Premier League (FPL) team looking ahead of Gameweek 1?

If you’re anything like us, you’ll be agonising over the £10.0m+ premiums, deliberating over which £4.5m goalkeeper to pick and wondering if Pep’s rotation will bite us on the behinds – again.

Luckily, our powerful Rate My Team (RMT) tool is here to help!

Thanks to TopMarx and RMT’s Professor, our FPL points projections are now live for the 2025/26 campaign.

And they now also factor in defensive contributions (DC), too!

In a further new feature, once the season starts, you’ll find weekly transfer recommendations powered by our RMT tool in the Upcoming Gameweek page.

There’s a lot of informative blurb below but you can skip to this section to find out how to load in your Gameweek 1 draft. Enjoy!

HOW DO I ACCESS RATE MY TEAM AND POINTS PROJECTIONS?

RMT is one of the many top features that come with a Fantasy Football Scout Membership – and you can get yours today at the discounted pre-season price.

You’ll be locking in your subscription fee for the lifetime of your membership, too, providing you don’t cancel!

Once you’re a subscriber, you can find RMT here and the points projections here.

So, how does Rate My Team/RMT work?

WHAT IS RATE MY TEAM?

RMT is a tool designed to approximate how many FPL points your team will score over a series of Gameweeks.

This takes into account captaincy, vice-captains and automatic substitution points.

WHAT ARE POINTS PROJECTIONS?

Projections come in two forms – Season Projections and Six-Gameweek Projections (SGP).

Season projections show algorithm-generated predictions for every FPL player. This includes goals, assists, clean sheets, minutes played, bonus points, defensive contributions (DC), yellow cards and, most importantly, FPL points.

SGP shows algorithm-generated predictions for every player’s FPL points in each of the next six Gameweeks, calculating their points per million value over this period. These numbers are the same numbers as the ones used in RMT.

HOW ARE THE VALUES FOR RATE MY TEAM AND PROJECTIONS CALCULATED?

The values are generated by an algorithm that uses both current and historical data. There is also constant human monitoring so that the model can respond quickly to news, injuries or tactical changes that otherwise the algorithm may underestimate.

We do this to generate the best values with as little bias as possible.

HOW DO I LOAD MY FPL TEAM INTO RMT?

To load your team into RMT (after Gameweek 1 only), you need to type in your FPL ID. If you can’t find your FPL ID, instructions on how to find it are on the Rate My Team page.

Before Gameweek 1, head to the Build My Team page and enter your team manually via ‘Add Player’ – as seen below.

rated FPL team

WHAT DO THE LETTERS MEAN?

You may see some lower-case letters next to the projected points (as shown in the next graphic below).

This is simply the RMT tool letting you know which players you should bench (b), captain (c) or vice-captain (vc).

The numbers next to the letter ‘b’ indicate the benching order, in case an auto-sub is needed.

WHAT DO XM AND ADJP MEAN?

rated FPL team

Placing the cursor over a player’s predicted FPL points in a Gameweek will show an xM and adjP score.

xM stands for expected minutes – It’s the number of minutes the algorithm is predicting a player to have. Note that this isn’t an exact Gameweek-specific prediction but rather an average number of minutes. Therefore, while a player might be expected to play 90 minutes, their xM will be lower since there’s a chance they might miss the game or get substituted.

adjP stands for adjusted points – It’s the projected points score if you know a player will take part in the match (i.e. his xM is not 0). It should be used for deciding who to captain and who to bench.

Both of these values combine to generate a final score.

WHY DOES RMT SAY TO START A PLAYER WITH A LOWER PREDICTED SCORE THAN A SECOND PLAYER?

Usually, this occurs because the algorithm predicts a player (eg/ goalkeeper) will either play the full game or nothing at all.

  • Player A – High adjP, very low xM – Low RMT score
  • Player B – Medium adjP, very high xM – Medium RMT score

Whilst Player A is unlikely to play, the most common scenario is either getting 90 minutes or none at all. Therefore, RMT thinks it’s worth starting him to make use of the high adjP if he plays, otherwise the safer option of Player B will autosub in.

Therefore it suggests picking Player A over B, despite the former appearing to score lower on RMT.

WHEN DO UPDATES HAPPEN?

While there’s no fixed update timetable, it is pretty much continuous.

Monday tends to have a big update after the weekend’s events. Thursday and Friday will have updates in the evenings following any news that emerges from pre-match press conferences.

CAN I SEE A FULL LIST OF ALL FPL PLAYERS IN RMT?

Get your FPL team rated ahead of 2025/26!

You can find the complete list here. It can also be found by clicking the ‘Players’ option in the sub-menu under “Rate My Team” on the main Premium Members Area menu.

CAN I ORDER BY SCORES FOR ONE GAMEWEEK?

From the player list in RMT or projections, click on the Gameweek header to sort by that Gameweek’s predicted score.

HOW DO I CHANGE THE GAMEWEEKS I VIEW RMT OVER?

On top of the Rate My Team page, whilst your team is loaded, select “First Gameweek” or “Last Gameweek”. By default, the first Gameweek will be the next Gameweek and the last Gameweek will be in six Gameweeks’ time, but these can be manually altered to suit your research.

Cheap defence the way to go for me this season. The ever-increasing attacking quality in the premier league made clean sheets unpredictable last season... I remember being consistently disappointed by Arsenal defence, despite them being the best in the league apparently.

Aina at 5.0 looks good but the rest will be 4.5s / 4.0s

Pretty much agree. Do you think its cyclical longer term though? I remember during Rafa / Jose years defence would've been more on top, 4-5-1 all the rage. At some point I have to assume that defences will be on top again when a tactical shift happens.

Me neither, not for a while at least. Playing out from the back and trying to beat the press could be leading to more errors too. No longer about putting it in row Z.

Cheers, the only person I am unsure about is Welbeck....his injury record isn't great....might go JSL instead...rest should pretty much remain the same and might BB in GW1/ 2

I've got Welbeck, mainly because he might be on pens now Pedro is gone. He's also looked on fire during preseason. Injury prone yeah, but there's options there to switch to like JSL as you mentioned

Here’s my first draft for the year and is a bit different.

    Sels
    Gabriel | Colwill | Udogie
    Salah | Palmer | Saka | Anderson
    Solanke | Wood | Evanilson

    Kinsky | Konsa | 4.5 | 4.0

I like the dead 7th attacker that will get 4 points regularly to enable my big 3 in midfield. Anderson is likely to get the extra 2 points more often than not and got 8 attacking returns last season. Strikers all have excellent fixtures.

    Feedback appreciated.

Think I found a solid template for what I want going forward, here’s how week1 with a few weeks planned is looking

    Pickford
    Tarkowski Gvardiol Van Dijk Lacroix
    Salah(c) Caceido Rogers
    Pedro Isak Bowen

    Kelleher Baleba Christie Pinnock

The 2 bonus points for defensive minded midfielders and

    1. Gol D Roger
      • 11 Years
      4 months, 16 days ago

Defenders have really made it interesting

By metrics, in theory, Baleba Caceido and Christie can rack up 4 points a game (2 starting 2 bonus) as long as they avoid yellows and getting battered

Best options as they are nailed on

Pinnock and Laxroix are great options for the same rule change in defense and the rest speak for themselves

Good week to week swaps too

    First draft

    Pickford (Areola)
    Cucu RAN Gabriel (Tarko Milenkovic)
    Kudus Ndiaye Enzo Rice (Zubimendi)
    Haaland Bowen Solanke

    GW1: BB
GW2: Bench Solanke & Kudus (+ benching headache)
GW3: Bench Gabriel, Rice & Zubimendi
    GW4: WC

Yes, Arsenal fan. Still, Zubi slot is weak. He could be Sessegnon, but I don't know much about his likely minutes. Can also downgrade Pickford and/or Gabriel (to Spurs defender) to fund an upgrade. I am looking for value in the 2-week rotation (GW2 & 3) before a WC in GW4. Not to be taken seriously, though, as a lot will change.

        Dammit, cancel reply fail.

Basically, I said yes. I think so. Should be trusted more than Partey in defence and to resist presses, allowing Rice to sit a little farther up the pitch. Or MLS/Califiori to bomb forward (with him). Or they join the midfield and let Rice push forward. Even if it's the same as last season, it's good enough I think for a safe start to the season (in this draft)

It’s incredibly top heavy in defence and attack and extremely lightweight in midfield.

£11.5m for two defenders you’d bench every week seems a touch unnecessary.

And Adobe. It seems the site requires Adobe cookies to function without issues. More testing required -- though I'm no expert in this area, which makes me a conspiracy theorist! What information are they tracking/thieving!?

Since there appears to be no improvements to the game, (in fact you could argue that they've ruined every part of it) I can only assume that the changes they made are solely for their own purposes.

I'm on board with your theory.

    5. Zalk
      • 14 Years

I don't think that counts as a conspiracy since they've actually moved everything to Microsoft (probably Azure). They've probably moved to Power Pages too, which is a framework for building websites, but underestimated how long it actually takes to get a new framework/integration working. Hopefully they ask someone with UX-knowledge to take a look at the site in the near future.

Am I the only one thinking most of the popular forward options are not so good picks, and for approximately the same price you can get a lot more value from midfield options?

    Some examples:

    - Joao Pedro 7.5m -> Not nailed after Jackson is back GW2, e.g. Rogers at 7.0m feels like a much more secure pick and you save 0.5m

    - Bowen 8.0m -> Probably does not start as an attacker and scores less as a striker than midfield, strange position change from FPL, you can get Cunha for 8.0m who will actually play as a forward

    - Isak 10.5m -> you can expect almost similar FPL points from players like Wirtz/Marmoush for 2m less

    - Haaland 14.0m -> very hard to include in the team if you want Salah and I guess most players here really dont have the balls to go without Salah

    - Solanke 7.5m -> if he plays so deep as last season, is simply not worth the money

I am feeling like 3-5-2 and spending big money on midfield options, or even 4-5-1 will be the best option.

After some tinkering I’ve arrived a similar conclusions. Isak is worth it imo, but I’m starting to doubt Bowen at his price tag and position.

Pre-season will show which bargain FWDs may shape up to be in form.

    2. Nomar
      • Fantasy Football Scout Member

I think Isak is worth it.

I also think Watkins worth his price too.

It’s hard to see Wood emulating what he did last season and if Wissa stays will he be affected by the loss of Mbuemo?

I think Bowen may justify his tag as he is likely still the main outlet for West Ham points and he’s probably going to hoover up the BAPs as a striker.

The rest is a bit meh, but there are a lot of question marks over a lot of players this season.

    3. Zalk
      • 14 Years

Like every year there's going to be one big hitter that outperforms the other two, that you almost have to have. And then there's going to be a 5.5-6.5m player that hits form for a longer period that you also almost "have to" have. Finding or predicting who that is is the hard part.

    4. Captain Mal
      • 1 Year

It's too early for safe conclusions.
Pedro won't be playing 90 minutes, but should be first choice, not to mention he could be utilised as a second striker as well.
Bowen isn't a pure 9, but that didn't stop him being a top FPL asset for the second part of last season.
I expect Isak to be closer to Palmer/Saka than Wirtz/Marmoush, I think you are underrating him.
Solanke plays under a new manager, Frank tends to get goals from his strikers.
And these aren't the only options (Evanilson/Watkins/Welbeck/Strand Larsen/Wood etc. )

    5. White Pony

I always tend to go 3-4-3 at the start of the season as there's more chance of finding a starting 4.5 mid than a starting 4.5 forward, allowing me to get another 0.5 on the pitch with at least outfield two subs who play. Given that I am dreadful at FPL, though, its probably a terrible strategy.

Looking at game weeks 2&3 I have started to consider Haaland, Wirtz and Palmer combo. Haaland was explosive at the start of last season and it took a moment for Salah to make things happen. Yet, Salah is Salah and fit when the season starts.

The history part, someone posted yesterday a workaround, we're hoping that it will magically appear somewhere after GW1. But the workaround is get your Team ID, replacing the xxx in the url below with your id. You can find your Team ID when you hover over your team name in any league you are a part of,

yes, as long as you login with the same email it retains your history, you can have different team names, but keep the same email to retain the records. Its annoying the new page formats.. clearly no user testing, I cant use it on my phone or ipad in safari, chrome and firefox apart from in the official app which I think is really crap. so for now im doing it in edge on my laptop.

That's a key point. I'm guessing that they spent all their time developing the important 'create a badge' section then had to rush the rest of the site to meet their deadline.

The Opening Day League is now closed, but here are some more mini-leagues for eligible teams to enter:

Top 10k Any Season (league code wnvtph) is only for teams whose Previous Seasons record in their Gameweek History shows that they have finished the season in the overall top 10,000 at least once.

Multiple Top 10k Finishes (league code cqzki8) is for teams that have had two or more top 10,000 finishes.

Mini-league administrators are invited to add details of their own mini-leagues or competitions if they think they might be of interest to the FFS community.

See Community Article 'FFS Mini-Leagues and Community Competitions – the 2024/25 winners' for a report on last season’s winners and the FFS Hall of Fame top ten. Additional Community articles through the season will report on the mini-league and community competition leaders after each Gameweek.

Why isn't FFS addressing the issues with the new FPL launch?

This is the answer, they're not going to bite the hand that feeds, especially as some FFS contributors also contribute to official FPL content.

It's not free when they are harvesting your data (and advertising to you). Even FFS has that obtuse cookie consent form where you have to opt out of a bunch of 'legitimate interest' trackers if you can be bothered. We don't have to be grateful to our overlords. If it wasn't worth doing for them, they wouldn't do it. No need for us to join the shill brigade! 😀

    What do we think?

    Kelleher - Verbruggen
    Gvardiol - VVD - Udogie - AWB - Konsa
    Salah - Palmer - Rice - Mitoma - Kudus
    Welbeck - JP - Evanilson

My first draft that deserves a post (the rest up until now I simply didnt like), how do you like it?

    Areola
    Gvardiol, Aina, Van de Ven
    Salah(c), Palmer, Rogers, Kudus
    Wood, Welbeck, Pedro

    Sa, Kluivert, Konsa, Esteve

Both defenders and mids/attackers will be rotated to target "easier" fixtures. They all combine well up to GW10

I am aware that full playing 15 team and points on bench is a bit unpopular tactic, but it served me well last year where I was able to accumulate FTs pretty easy and reasses the tactic again with 3+ transfer saved, and/or react easily to any injuries or form dip/raise for most of the players.

Does anyone know if the math has been done for every defender / midfielder from last season and the points they would have had if the new ruleset was in place last year? I know we have the news articles from FPL themselves but it's limited to like the top 10 or whatever

Anyone else find it interesting that they've left "I" (influence), "C" (creativity) and "T" (threat) for the "II" (ICT Index) stats which are hardly used/discussed BUT they haven't added in the column (so far at least, granted I'm in the history tab) for CBITR?

Just tried submitting my first draft and it's forcing me to pick a Premier League team under 'Choose your favourite club' to be able to submit.
I don't support a Prem team and it's been no problem leaving this blank before - anyone know if there's a way around it?

    Cheers!

Thomas Frank was a very good Brentford manager. Is his departure, plus Mbeumo move a big factor in a seemingly lower rating of Brentford on FFS. Or is it Keith Andrews appointment or other factors?

Have 2.5m in the bank, and had a go at a first draft, obviously the main issues being no Haaland or Salah..

    Sels
    Ait-nouri - Virgil - Aina
    Rogers - Palmer - Wirtz - Marmoush - Kudus
    J Pedro - Bowen

Kelleher - Colwill - Spence - Nmecha (Leeds fan)

Do you think Nmecha will play? Could be worth the extra 0.5 over my fodder.

I looked on Transfermarkt. He doesn't look too impressive. Piroe could be the Leeds striker, decent for 6l5.5m. Beto's goals per games last season is OK for 5.5m but could be better throwing 1m at a 5th mid then get a 4.5m fodder striker.

I mean watching the friendly (granted only one so far) but he was far better than I expected, I see him getting minutes not sure Piroe is the best option up top but also we have definitely got another striker incoming. I'll probably change him to something else but fancied a bit of Leeds in there haha!

So far, 55.5% v 17.7%. Very changeable %s.Early days to MD1 and a long way to MD38 finishing.

Pedro is 58.6%. There's more than a few picking players based doley on their percent ownership.

      1. The Bandit
        • 15 Years
        4 months, 15 days ago

I wouldn’t take much notice of ownership percentages yet, much of it is based on auto picks. I was specifically referencing the teams being posted here.

        1. GreennRed
          • 14 Years
          4 months, 15 days ago

True but wouldn't pay too much heed to teams posted here yet. Depends on who's posting them too. If Isak didn't look such a good pick Haaland would probably more popular. But if Isak goes to Liverpool he'll impact Salah's and Wirtz's returns, could impact Haaland's FPL appeal. We'll be inundated with rumours until September 1st.

Here's my initial draft, what are your thought's?

    GK - Kelleher, Verbruggen
DEF - Gabriel, Tarkowski, Wan-Bissaka, Esteve, De Cuyper
MID - Salah, Palmer, Rice, Caicedo, Kudus
    FWD - Solanke, Welbeck, Wissa
