Our transfer round-up looks at the recent deals that have taken place in the Premier League, including Sunderland’s capture of Granit Xhaka (£5.0m).

The most noteworthy arrivals from a Fantasy Premier League (FPL) perspective will always be given their own Scout Reports, while regular round-ups like this one will recap everything else.

Don’t forget that you can find all the confirmed transfers listed here throughout the summer.

Our complete pre-season guide also contains a wealth of other articles to read ahead of the new campaign.

Granit Xhaka (Bayer Leverkusen to Sunderland, £13m)
Robin Roefs (NEC Nijmegen to Sunderland, undisclosed)

Scout notes 2

Switzerland international Granit Xhaka has returned to the Premier League with Sunderland.

The 32-year-old made 33 Bundesliga appearances for Bayer Leverkusen last season, scoring twice and providing a further seven assists.

His excellent distribution and ability to orchestrate play were much evident in 2024/25 – the playmaker made more line-breaking passes than any other player in the German top-flight.

Xhaka posed minimal goal threat with a shot every 137.7 minutes; however, his ability to deliver a key pass every 57.8 minutes suggests that he has the potential to chip in with a few assists.

A share of dead-ball duties would further increase his appeal.

Of course, Xhaka will likely have to play a bit deeper at Sunderland, having previously lined up as one of two central midfielders in a 3-4-2-1 formation at Leverkusen, but it should help boost his defensive contributions. He averaged 7.6 per 90 of those in his final season at Arsenal, but this will undoubtedly increase playing for a newly-promoted club.

Xhaka’s disciplinary record, which was so often a problem at Arsenal, has also improved, with only three bookings across his 33 Bundesliga appearances in 2024/25.

Sunderland are back in action against Real Betis on Saturday afternoon, and it would be no surprise to see Xhaka start, having already featured for Leverkusen in pre-season.

Robin Roefs, meanwhile, is yet to be priced up by FPL, but he’ll surely come in at £4.5m.

The Dutch goalkeeper, who represented his country at the European U21 Championships earlier this summer, made 32 Eredivisie appearances for NEC last season, keeping 10 clean sheets.

Standing at 6ft 4in, it has been suggested that Roefs has been signed to compete with Anthony Patterson (£4.5m) rather than simply replace him, though the expectation among the fanbase is that he will quickly become first-choice, particularly given the reported £9.5m fee.

Dan Ndoye (Bologna to Nottingham Forest, £34m)

Nottingham Forest successfully fended off interest from Napoli to land Bologna winger Dan Ndoye earlier this week.

Arriving in a deal worth £34m, the Swiss international will serve as a direct replacement for Anthony Elanga (£7.0m), who racked up 17 attacking returns during the 2024/25 season.

Ndoye scored eight goals and provided four assists in 30 Serie A appearances last season. He also produced the winning goal against AC Milan in the Coppa Italia final, helping Bologna win their first major trophy in 51 years.

In terms of profile, he’s a pacey, direct threat who should slot seamlessly into Nuno Espirito Santo’s counter-attacking system.

Ndoye registered a shot every 41.4 minutes last term, a faster rate than any of Forest’s regular first-team starters. However, Elanga was clear in terms of creativity, with a key pass every 51.0 minutes in comparison to Ndoye’s 79.7 minutes.

Still, by retaining Morgan Gibbs-White (£7.5m) and now adding Ndoye into the mix, it feels like Forest are in a much better place.

A price of £6.0m/£6.5m is expected in FPL.

Ndoye could make his debut for Forest during the pre-season friendly against Birmingham City on Saturday.

Lucas Perri (Lyon to Leeds United, £15.6m)

Leeds United kept a total of 25 clean sheets in the Championship last season, but criticism was often levelled at goalkeeper Illan Meslier (£4.5m), who was eventually dropped for the final matches.

With seven games left, Karl Darlow (£4.0m) took over the position, but it now appears Leeds will have a new number one for the upcoming season.

Lucas Perri (£4.5m) has joined from Lyon in a deal worth a reported £15.6m.

The 27-year-old Brazilian played 45 matches across all competitions last season, keeping 13 clean sheets. Additionally, he recorded 116 saves in his 33 league appearances, averaging 3.5 per match.

This impressive form led to a call-up to the Brazil squad for the World Cup qualifiers in March.

As for his FPL prospects, it’s unlikely many FPL managers will be looking for a newly-promoted goalkeeper, particularly with cheaper £4.0m routes into each side’s backlines.

That said, Perri looks like a decent acquisition and could be one to monitor.

Cristhian Mosquera (Valencia to Arsenal, £13m)

Arsenal completed a deal to sign Spanish U21 international defender Cristhian Mosquera (£5.5m) last week.

He will provide cover at centre-back for first-choice pairing William Saliba (£6.0m) and Gabriel Magalhaes (£6.0m).

Indeed, Arsenal’s sporting director said “He is an important signing for our future” upon his unveiling last week.

It’s not the most promising quote for those hoping the Spaniard could provide a route into Arsenal’s backline, but he could quickly become useful like Jakub Kiwior (£5.5m) did last season if injuries occur.

Mosquera is only 21, but has scored just one goal in his club career.

An observation: Haaland (and Man City in general) play better when Rodri is on the pitch

A thought: Viktor Gyökeres, 68 goals in 66 appearances for Sporting CP in Portuguese Primeira Liga.
(cough) Darwin Nunez (cough) another who was prolific in Portugal

I've got both Haaland and Gyökeres, but may lose Vic if Isak moves to Liverpool

    1. Tommy Template

Do we think Isak will be any better at Liverpool in FPL? More competition. No pens. Probably still gets injured at some stage. Sure he has better around him creating but there's a lot of negatives purely for FPL, not doubting him as a player or signing for Pool

Problem with Portguese league ; Opta place it one below the Championship. Gyokeres could be amazing or totally out of his depth in a top league, he’s never scored in one.

Thoughts on when to play the BB if you're not doing so in GW1?

    Before or after you WC?

I'd be more inclined to play the BB after I WC, instead of playing the BB beforehand. Otherwise, you're trying to find players to play the BB instead of concentrating on transfers for your first XI.

    2. Salarrivederci
      • 9 Years

I've been playing BB GW1 in the past three seasons. Will 200% do it again this year.

If you WC into a BB you have way too many funds on the bench GW after GW. Unless you take hits to downgrade a benchplayer and upgrade your starting XI.
Nad since it is highly unlikely we see any DGW in the first half of the season I see no reason to save it personally.

IMO With the new 5FT introduced last season, it's easier to save up transfers on route to the BB and then just WC as normal. Will be saving mine

We can save transfers and get extra transfers, I agree. Injuries do happen in football, so there is chance of us getting 4.0 gk later.

The 5 FT's we get before AFCON in GW16 is a fairly obvious opportunity.

The fixtures also look good in GW16 for a lot of the top-half sides.

Having 2 rotational keepers on the bench. A 4.5M defender , a Esteve/Rodon and Guiu.
Anytime when the fixtures are good I can use the BB. Not sweating too much on it

Gw1 we dont know anything or not much anyway. Theres been some serious transfer wheeling and dealing that we just dont know about how it'll work heading into gw1, and no doubt more to come. Plus the 3 relegated sides were actually ok in gw1 last season from much worse fixtures than Leeds and Sunderland have this season so not as if you can really target them or know if they'll even be that bad

    6. Hairy Potter
      • 10 Years

I might just start with two 4.5 keepers and look for half decent week to BB with my team before I use my WC. It's a rubbish chip especially when used in a normal GW.

    Sels
    Aina O'Brien VdV
    Palmer Saka Wirtz Gakpo Malen
    Haaland Wood

    4.0. Konsa Esteve Guiu

    Thoughts?
    - Really like Malen. Gakpo is a punt. Could very well do both to like Kudus and Ndiaye. But that's boring.
    - Debating on a 5.0 Sels or a 4.5/4.5 rotational pairing

    1. IN SANE IN DE BRUYNE

Prefer Rogers over Gakpo, even if its a double up with Malen. Not because Gakpo is a bad choice, but because Rogers is a lock in my team. The Malen punt is certainly interesting, especially if Watkins moves

set and forget players. May ask this a few times over the coming days/weeks.

    I think these atm:

    Esteve
    Gabriel (if fit)
Virgil (if pre-season is to be ignored)
    Wirtz (tricky one)
    Rogers

    Possible:
    Gvardiol

Weird... I tried to change my name to Baps Hunter, but I get info that changes are saved and then at the same time: "Someone else already uses this display name, please choose another." Who has hijacked my name?!?

Sounds like some sort of case sensitive conflict issue.

It’s getting a bit hard to ignore this Mateta form no?

If he starts the season banging them in we’re gonna be like of course he is!

    Thoughts on this?

    Sanchez
    De Cuyper, Kerkez, Williams
    Salah, Palmer, Eze, Rogers, Ndiaye
    Wood, Gyokeres

    4, Konsa, Esteve, Guiu

Don't know why but I'm not really up on Kerkez. Everything else is

Should've said everything else is on point, just hoping Guiu can be a starter.

VvD is a lock for me

VVD out of two, or get a 5.5 and upgrade Esteve with a rotation option

Did Spurs look dangerous from set pieces the last day ? Could this increase appeal of Romero ?

    RMT Draft #918283

    Areola ( Verbruggen )
Williams Konsa Robinson ( Gudmndsson / Esteve )
    Salah Marmoush Wirtz Palmer Kudus
    Gyokeres JSL ( Guiu )

    0 ITB

    Kelleher / 4.0
    VvD, Gabriel*, Milenkovic*, Dorgu*, Agbadou*
    Salah, Palmer, Wirtz, Anderson, Ndiaye*
    Watkins, JSL, Kroupi jr*

This is 0.5 million over budget. Dull also, I know, but gw1 isn't perhaps time to go maverick for me. It hasn't worked so far and I need to play it safe for future BB transfers etc. Ndiaye to Kudus, or should I get Rogers and downgrade one premium defender. Or Ndiaye to 5.0 and use that million in defence?

How is this looking? A bit light in midfield but very strong otherwise.

      Kelleher Petrovic
Gvardiol Tarkowski Van den Ven Agbadou Esteve
      Palmer Rogers Kluivert Ndaiye Xhaka
      Haaland Gyokeres Solanke

Sold on tarky Palmer Haaland Gyokeres

Willing to consider most of the others

Any solid 5.5m or below midfielders? Will be rotating in and out of starting 11

E.Anderson or Baleba would be my picks currently

Anderson is the best pick, better than any 6.0 imo. E le Fee is also quite popular, either him or Baleba at 5.0.

        O’Riley

Wilson when fit and playing returns well. If Watkins leave, Malen might be more secure of minutes. I like Tonali and Reijnders if looking likely to start. Anderson looks good. Sarr for Spurs is playing well in pre season for 5m and will get plenty of DC’s but not sure how Palhina arriving will impact him. Xhaka and Le Fee are 5m options likely to play and get points for DC’s so may get regular 3-4 pointers with the small chance of other returns. Monitor O’Riley for Brighton and if Harvey Elliot moves away from Pool he could be a shoe in. Gnonto from Leeds if he looks nailed might do ok at that price.

They absolutely can’t price Sesko above 10.5m imo. They’ve set a precedent with Isak’s price. Even 10.5m is probably too much

He can’t be priced higher than Mbeumo or Cunha surely. Fwd gets less points for goals, not PL proven. 7.5 would be right

Eh, why on earth would they price him anywhere near that? 9m is the absolute max he could be
