Our transfer round-up looks at the recent deals that have taken place in the Premier League, including Sunderland’s capture of Granit Xhaka (£5.0m).

The most noteworthy arrivals from a Fantasy Premier League (FPL) perspective will always be given their own Scout Reports, while regular round-ups like this one will recap everything else.

Don’t forget that you can find all the confirmed transfers listed here throughout the summer.

Our complete pre-season guide also contains a wealth of other articles to read ahead of the new campaign.

Granit Xhaka (Bayer Leverkusen to Sunderland, £13m)
Robin Roefs (NEC Nijmegen to Sunderland, undisclosed)

Scout notes 2

Switzerland international Granit Xhaka has returned to the Premier League with Sunderland.

The 32-year-old made 33 Bundesliga appearances for Bayer Leverkusen last season, scoring twice and providing a further seven assists.

His excellent distribution and ability to orchestrate play were much evident in 2024/25 – the playmaker made more line-breaking passes than any other player in the German top-flight.

Xhaka posed minimal goal threat with a shot every 137.7 minutes; however, his ability to deliver a key pass every 57.8 minutes suggests that he has the potential to chip in with a few assists.

A share of dead-ball duties would further increase his appeal.

Of course, Xhaka will likely have to play a bit deeper at Sunderland, having previously lined up as one of two central midfielders in a 3-4-2-1 formation at Leverkusen, but it should help boost his defensive contributions. He averaged 7.6 per 90 of those in his final season at Arsenal, but this will undoubtedly increase playing for a newly-promoted club.

Xhaka’s disciplinary record, which was so often a problem at Arsenal, has also improved, with only three bookings across his 33 Bundesliga appearances in 2024/25.

Sunderland are back in action against Real Betis on Saturday afternoon, and it would be no surprise to see Xhaka start, having already featured for Leverkusen in pre-season.

Robin Roefs, meanwhile, is yet to be priced up by FPL, but he’ll surely come in at £4.5m.

The Dutch goalkeeper, who represented his country at the European U21 Championships earlier this summer, made 32 Eredivisie appearances for NEC last season, keeping 10 clean sheets.

Standing at 6ft 4in, it has been suggested that Roefs has been signed to compete with Anthony Patterson (£4.5m) rather than simply replace him, though the expectation among the fanbase is that he will quickly become first-choice, particularly given the reported £9.5m fee.

Dan Ndoye (Bologna to Nottingham Forest, £34m)

Nottingham Forest successfully fended off interest from Napoli to land Bologna winger Dan Ndoye earlier this week.

Arriving in a deal worth £34m, the Swiss international will serve as a direct replacement for Anthony Elanga (£7.0m), who racked up 17 attacking returns during the 2024/25 season.

Ndoye scored eight goals and provided four assists in 30 Serie A appearances last season. He also produced the winning goal against AC Milan in the Coppa Italia final, helping Bologna win their first major trophy in 51 years.

In terms of profile, he’s a pacey, direct threat who should slot seamlessly into Nuno Espirito Santo’s counter-attacking system.

Ndoye registered a shot every 41.4 minutes last term, a faster rate than any of Forest’s regular first-team starters. However, Elanga was clear in terms of creativity, with a key pass every 51.0 minutes in comparison to Ndoye’s 79.7 minutes.

Still, by retaining Morgan Gibbs-White (£7.5m) and now adding Ndoye into the mix, it feels like Forest are in a much better place.

A price of £6.0m/£6.5m is expected in FPL.

Ndoye could make his debut for Forest during the pre-season friendly against Birmingham City on Saturday.

Lucas Perri (Lyon to Leeds United, £15.6m)

Leeds United kept a total of 25 clean sheets in the Championship last season, but criticism was often levelled at goalkeeper Illan Meslier (£4.5m), who was eventually dropped for the final matches.

With seven games left, Karl Darlow (£4.0m) took over the position, but it now appears Leeds will have a new number one for the upcoming season.

Lucas Perri (£4.5m) has joined from Lyon in a deal worth a reported £15.6m.

The 27-year-old Brazilian played 45 matches across all competitions last season, keeping 13 clean sheets. Additionally, he recorded 116 saves in his 33 league appearances, averaging 3.5 per match.

This impressive form led to a call-up to the Brazil squad for the World Cup qualifiers in March.

As for his FPL prospects, it’s unlikely many FPL managers will be looking for a newly-promoted goalkeeper, particularly with cheaper £4.0m routes into each side’s backlines.

That said, Perri looks like a decent acquisition and could be one to monitor.

Cristhian Mosquera (Valencia to Arsenal, £13m)

Arsenal completed a deal to sign Spanish U21 international defender Cristhian Mosquera (£5.5m) last week.

He will provide cover at centre-back for first-choice pairing William Saliba (£6.0m) and Gabriel Magalhaes (£6.0m).

Indeed, Arsenal’s sporting director said “He is an important signing for our future” upon his unveiling last week.

It’s not the most promising quote for those hoping the Spaniard could provide a route into Arsenal’s backline, but he could quickly become useful like Jakub Kiwior (£5.5m) did last season if injuries occur.

Mosquera is only 21, but has scored just one goal in his club career.

Settled in this team for now -

    Areola
    Williams - Udogie - VdV
    Salah - Palmer - Rogers - Kudus
    Bowen - Wood - Welbeck

Gauci - Ndiaye - Mykolenko - De Cuyper

    Have 1m in the bank.

    GW 1 - BB (100% certain)
    GW 2 - Bowen ➡ Gyokeres
GW 3 - Gyokeres ➡ United striker / Newcastle striker / Brentford striker
    GW 4 - WC (100% certain)
    GW 5 - Save FT
    GW 6 - FH (100% certain)

    This plans covers everything imo.

1.Gives me Haaland and city firepower in GW 6 along with Forest and Spurs attack + defense for their good fixture in 6.
    2. Helps me get onboard Arsenal, Villa, Bournemouth, Palace players in GW 4 WC for their great run starting then.
    3. Gives me Arsenal attack for LEE in GW 2.
    4. BB optimised in GW 1 with nailed players for a fast start.
    5. Helps play the first 4 GWs as FHs basically getting to pick players with all the juicy fixtures without having to worry long term.
    6. GW 4 WC helps to see who’s moved where after the transfer window is shut.

P.S. - GW 6 FH is the biggest enabler of this plan.

    Thoughts? 🙂

        I was initially on this

But try building the ideal GW 2 FH and you will be short on funds and team doesn’t look that great. Also, gets very difficult to navigate GW 6 with no City(BUR).

          GW2 FH something like:

          Raya
          RAN - Truffert - Hartman
          Saka - Fernandes - Eze - Semenyo
          Haaland - Gyökeres - Evanilson

          (4.0 - 4.0 - 4.0 - 4.5)

          I’ll WC om GW4.
Could get some City at that point?

Easy enough to include Palmer if I want top.
Also we might know enough about City after 3 GWs to opt for RAN/Gvardiol + Foden/Marmoush ?

Okay, here is something different, rotating big at the back:

    Kelleher / Kinsky*
    VvD, Gabriel, Milenkovic, Romero, Colwill
Salah, Palmer, Wirtz, Anderson / E le Fee
    Watkins, JSL / Kroupi jr

Gw1 5-4-1, after that 4-4-2 for 6 game weeks. In theory only though 😉

Theory is great! Heavy on 5 at the back will usually mean you’re always 2 transfers away from changing things up. Big Back 5 could be the new way to go, but too early to tell.
