FPL Hall of Fame Gameweek 1 team reveals: World’s best managers

Four of the best managers in Fantasy Football Scout’s Hall of Fame have exclusively revealed their Fantasy Premier League (FPL) teams ahead of Friday’s Gameweek 1 deadline!

These are the cream of the crop, the FPL bosses who haven’t just racked up one outstanding overall rank but several of them.

Our star-studded quartet are:

  • Abinav C (rank 3rd): Finished 193rd in the world last season, which was their second time in the top 1k and fourth in the top 10k. Hasn’t finished outside the top 50k in any of the last nine seasons.
  • Rob Mayes (rank 6th): Hasn’t been outside the top 30k in the last nine years, finishing top 1k on two occasions and top 10k on a further two.
  • Gideon Moss (rank 7th): Followed up a top 2k finish in 2023/24 by finishing 11th in the world last season. Has another top 4k rank to their name on top of this.
  • Niklas Nylander (rank 15th): A top 1k finish in 2024/25, their second such overall rank. They posted top 10k finishes in 2023/24 and 2022/23, too.

    Brentford have replaced their goalkeeper, switching from Flekken to Kelleher, who may be regarded as an upgrade.

    The team's defensive back 4/5 remains unchanged from the previous season.

    It appears that Henderson has been signed to cover the departure of Norgaard. However, is Henderson expected or predicted to start ahead of Yarmoliuk and Jensen in the CM positions, or is his role primarily to provide experience and squad depth?

    Can't wrap my head around no Arsenal, in years gone by we've had the best record against the top teams in the PL and are one of the best attacking/defensive teams in the league too.

      Saka is less appealing without penalties, which is likely.

      Gyokeres is hard to spell and needs to settle in.

      Rice could be decent.

      Fixtures don't scream clean sheets.

      Martenelli could be worth a pick too.

          I prefer Saka as a pick to Palmer but his numbers are hard to ignore.

          It will change early on with Isak and Eze etc...

              There's an edge in picking Arsenal and you can avoid Pep roulette

              But there's more options for Arteta now.

              Especially deeper playing midfielders who tend to get ignored but could fire too.

                I agree with the deeper playing midfielders though, given rise to the likes of Anderson, Rice et.al...

      It's all to do with fixtures. Arsenal's are tough on paper and as the season hasn't started we haven't any form to go on yet. Safest bet is on Chelsea and Villa players who got really decent starts, at least 5 of their opening 6 are appealing.

            Normally ok, but there's a lot of cloak and dagger around some of the clubs. Put it this way I've dropped him out of my team.
            But then I'm BB1 and early WC around gw4 so all depends on your game plan .
            I'm Still sticking with Watkins up front .

            Down the line perhaps but Moyes seems to rate him highly and won't be in a rush to bench him. They will likely sign a RB but as it stands I don't think he has any serious competition in his position. Good attacking threat and will be one of the best fullbacks for Def Cons I would imagine. Worth the longer term uncertainty for 5m I feel

      Will be keeping an eye on the situation at Liverpool incase they do sign another striker, but for now I think Gakpo is safe at LW.

        If you're committed to the strategy it's mostly fine. If you're targeting GW1 I wouldn't go for Cunha with that fixture. Has Xhaka actually played in pre-season for Sunderland yet?

          I think Gakpo might end up a trap again. The Isak stuff isn't dead in the water yet, Wirtz could go there or Ekitike could and Wirtz as a false 9. He'll get minutes Gakpo, probably more than last season but I don't see him as a nailed starter for Liverpool long-term. Clearly Slot preferred Luis Diaz last season and he's sold him, can't imagine they've done that because they wanted to start Gakpo.
