FPL Hall of Fame Gameweek 1 team reveals: World’s best managers

Four of the best managers in Fantasy Football Scout’s Hall of Fame have exclusively revealed their Fantasy Premier League (FPL) teams ahead of Friday’s Gameweek 1 deadline!

These are the cream of the crop, the FPL bosses who haven’t just racked up one outstanding overall rank but several of them.

Our star-studded quartet are:

  • Abinav C (rank 3rd): Finished 193rd in the world last season, which was their second time in the top 1k and fourth in the top 10k. Hasn’t finished outside the top 50k in any of the last nine seasons.
  • Rob Mayes (rank 6th): Hasn’t been outside the top 30k in the last nine years, finishing top 1k on two occasions and top 10k on a further two.
  • Gideon Moss (rank 7th): Followed up a top 2k finish in 2023/24 by finishing 11th in the world last season. Has another top 4k rank to their name on top of this.
  • Niklas Nylander (rank 15th): A top 1k finish in 2024/25, their second such overall rank. They posted top 10k finishes in 2023/24 and 2022/23, too.

      Strand Larsen for me, he is a beast and well accustomed to the PL now. Fullkrug looking ready for the new season but I would call him a wait and see and Everton just don’t score freely enough for me to back Beto, plus he will rotate with Barry.

          More DCs as the centre half. I really don't think he's a risk either. He started the most games for Leeds last season and has played the most mins preseason to boot.

    Thoughts on this team? I really think there is no standout 7.5 forward or 6m defender but those are my sacrifices to fit in Bruno and Wirtz.

        I just think getting clean sheets is quite rare in general and with defensive contributions now the appeal of cheaper defenders is higher. Porro is the only one I regret not owning but I could upgrade Neco and have a 4.0 defender instead

      He starts 66% of games on 4 points. He has good fixtures to start the season as well. I think it's silly not to.

        One goal per season for 5 years in the prem, and last year's was a pretty memorable 0.01XG thunderc*nt.

        I do see the appeal, but I'd just rather go for one of Milenkovic / Murillo, and Muñoz as well

              The first option is already nerdy enough, but the second is just absolutely tragic. Rather come last in all my leagues than spend any time thinking about "DEFCONs"

                Getting the balance is where the fun is this season. That's why I'm going to stick to Milenkovic over Murillo, for example. Goal threat always wins for me.

                  All the whiners moaning about DMs not being "part of the game" have just made it more tedious than ever.

                  No one should be cheering for Caicedo ball recoveries ffs. He's should be solely there to trick the casuals in your work league into picking him, whilst you laugh at their stupidity, all until he nets a 15-pointer in GW1. That's the way it's always been, and that's the way it should always be.

                  It's bad enough seeing people begging for save points on here, it's going to be unbearable with this "DEFCON" monotony.

    If I sell Haaland plus my two 4.5’s I can buy Watkins, Mateta and Strand Larsen. From you experience playing FPL and applying logic is there no way Haaland trumps the three mentioned? Have to factor in Haaland as a strong (c) option compared to the rest even if captaincy won’t be on him until gw6.

    Branthwaite with a hamstring injury in training today apparently...

    That really dampens enthusiasm for Tarkowski. He'll still start games on 4 points but CSs are gonna be tougher. Could it even be worth going Michael Keane for 4.5m? More goal threat, his DCs were great when he played and he's a great finisher. Stupid idea?

    Movement in the FPL GK selections over the last few days.

    Sanchez and Dubravka are rising in ownership, Kelleher and Sels are falling in ownership. Sanchez and Dubravka are now the most owned GKs in the game.
