Sunday’s action brings an end to our first weekend of the season – a breathless 3-2 victory for Man City providing a fitting conclusion. Here’s our regular Members article, picking out some of the key stats from the weekend’s games…
Is this the right team for me to play from my squad next week?
De Gea
Zabaleta Cuellar Ivanovic
Santis Michu VDV Mata
Torres Petric Tevez
Subs: Jussi, Gunter, Guthrie Hangeland
I will have to transfer out the chelski players soon enough so would you recommend transfering any this week?Open Controlsvery good chance they'll buy a striker in the next week or so IMO, so i wouldn't risk it.
Open Controls
Wondering whether to do Ramires to Michu, and then Aguero to one of Rooney/RVP?
Opinions on my team would be much appreciated anyway, and suggestions for any improvement would be great. Got £2m in the bank.
Begovic, Jaaskalinen
Kaboul, Williams, McCartney, Barnett, Hangeland
Valencia, Guthrie, Ramires, Hazard, Sessegnon
Aguero, Torres, GrahamOpen ControlsGo down the 2.5m to Tevez?? Surely that's an easy choice?
Open ControlsThanks, that's a good option actually, gives me £4.5m to upgrade elsewhere then. Would you bring in this Michu guy for Ramires too?
Open ControlsOk, is there any other changes you would make to my team for a 4 point hit. Or do you think Aguero OUT, Tevez IN is sufficient?
Open Controlsi'd wait on aguero. he might start next game for all you know, nothing's been confirmed yet. you also have the problem of currently having three chelsea players for GW3 when they don't play.
Open Controls
Actually I did Ramires to Michu just after sat night's game. Well might turn out well since I don't want to have 3 chelsea players on gw3 anyway.
Agreed, with Aflickering to wait on Aguero.Open Controls
Any chance of rafael not starting tonight? Mrs China Mag would get Dyer's points from the bench and a 60+ score. Damn you kolarov!!
Open ControlsI think he will start
Open Controlsit's very unlikely that fergie's going to play valencia at right back against a pienaar+baines combination IMO. rafael's going in there. unless we've been misinformed about the extent of either the smalling or jones injury, as has happened with utd in the past...
i don't really care 'cause i've benched him anyway. 😛 was kinda dumb to get him in the first place i think but we'll see...Open Controls
I've just noticed the baps are already added???? What's going on?
Open ControlsHow's Ramires' illness? I don't reckon any good chance of him not playing, tho' if he don't Dyer's subbing on.
Open ControlsOkay, so if you were contemplating a wildcard, only contemplating (partly out of boredom, partly out of panic) what would you think of this little lot ...
Migs, Jussy
Verm, Vidic, Hughes, Williams, Clyne
Santi Corzola, Michu, Ben Arfa, Noble, Kac
Tevez, Graham, Van Persie
I'm assuming RVP will be decent ...
I'm probably doing this for therapy and will stick with my underachievers a bit longer but wondered who you would pick if you had to play a WC?Open ControlsYour Chelski battalion slaughtered me 🙁 Every single attempt I made for my team to be different failed. Unless Mata goes berserk I think you've won.
Open Controls
wouldn't touch arsenal with the fixtures they've got!
Open Controls"Okay, so if you were contemplating a wildcard...what would you think of this little lot"
you're asking the wrong question...post your link and ask "here is my team, should I wildcard?"...don't be shy if your team is garbage because we've all messed up once in a whileOpen Controls
I know "baps" are bonus points, but why are they known as "baps" here? LMAO 🙂
Open ControlsAhahaha I'm not alone 😛
Open Controls
We can't wait to get our hands on the but others always get bigger better ones..... 😉
Just easier to type, simples as..Open ControlsEveryone likes baps.
Open ControlsBone Ass Points

Wrapped with GW1 so far, hope I haven't used all my luck already. Thanks for all the input I received guys.
Big calls on Nasri 1 week punt, Michu & Petric, with Ivan over Cole turned out well. Also, Rooney straight in over Torres looks to be a solid move so far. Just need Mata (c) to show something next game.Open ControlsCheers Mick. How do u fair?
I know it's a marathon, not a sprint, but nice to get off to a good start for once. hahahaOpen Controls
ahhh so you're one of the two guys ahead of me in the dead zone league.... *narrows eyes*
Open Controlshaha. Nice Score so far mate with some handy players to come. Good call on (c). Only let down for me so far.
Open Controlsthanks mate. 🙂 good call on petric! i'm still not sure about nasri in the long run, will he be nailed on ahead of milner in the 4-2-3-1 or silva in the 3-4-1-2? that's what eventually stopped me having him after keeping him in for a while.
i've only got pienaar tomorrow but i'm a utd fan, conflicted as hell over here 😀Open ControlsBecause I only took 2 CHE players I was able to take the 1 week punt on Nasri, he will be out this GW for either a Sun mid (Larsson/McClean) or Kagawa.
Hate when that happens. Maybe a Pienaar goal in a 3-1 loss?Open Controls
Got £3.5m spare and 3 Chelsea players (Torres, Lamps, Ivan) + Guthrie who are getting their P45's from my team pretty soon. Set on a 4 point hit between now and GW3.
Question is
A) Torres to RVP/Roonpig
B) Torres to Jellyfish & Guthrie to a 9.5m mid
C) Torres to ANYONE else, Guthrie to someone else
Thoughts? Obviously decisions are made toward Friday night, just looking for general thoughts 🙂Open ControlsA looks a good option depending on result / gametime on who to go for.
Open Controls.. and A
Open ControlsI've been debating the same things about how to get rid of chelsea players. If you're determined to take that 4 pt hit, i'd do it before gw 3 and keep lamps and torres for the newcastle game, it's not gonna b to bad of a fixture i don't think
Open ControlsA + another transfer. what's your team?
Open Controls
ji
Open Controlswill you be out for a week or something?
Open ControlsAfraid so. If RVP only makes a sub appearance what will you do next gameweek. You wouldn't be able to captain him and you'd be sitting on a £13m player that's being eased in.
Open Controlseven if he got subbed on tomorrow, though, i reckon he's got a good chance of starting GW2
Open Controlswhy would RVP get eased in? not used to the pace of the EPL?
nah, injuries are an risk but trying to avoid price drops.
last season i made most of my transfers early, i got hit by a couple of injuries but overall it seemed to work well. my team value rocketed because i got all the intra-week price rises. really helped in the final third of the season.Open Controls
Kolarov screwed me (well mancini did) If I take him out to punish him, this will be his week won't it....?
Sound familiar...... 🙂Open ControlsYour even on the Kolarov wagon for a extended period of time or you should never have bought him. Its not about this one week, its about the season as a whole.
Open Controls
Why can't I see price rises and drops on totalfpl.com?
Open ControlsThat or several years of chronic masturbation.
Open Controls
GW1 rank of 31k. Better than I actually hoped for.
Which could mean a biiiiiig fall next week.. or the start of a spectacular season 😉Open ControlsHow does this look for a starting XI in GW3?
De Gea
Cuellar Hangeland Zabaleta
Santi VDV MIchu Ben Arfa
Tevez Petric RooneyOpen Controlsmidfield looks rough. VDV definitely not nailed on, ben arfa possssssssibly not nailed on, santi away at liverpool. rest is good though.
Open Controls* arsenal away at stoke
Open Controlsyes sorry
Open Controls
VDV not nailed on but should play at home(and its v Norwich which would be great), Ben Arfa is surely nailed on(and Playing villa) santi v liverpool? Did you miss last season and the start of this one? 😉
Open Controlsliverpool conceded 16 goals at home last season, only bettered by city and everton. arsenal did score 2 against them, that said. :p
i was strongly considering VDV til he was benched for GW1, that's put me off for now. gonna bring in assou ekotto for ivan though i think.Open Controls
So Pig captain now?ahah
Open Controls
how good were southampton at the back last year?? thinking about playing clyne as my 3rd defender. i thought he looked good today.
Open Controlsme too. i wish they'd bloody hurry up about it too!
Open Controlsso ur thinking what im thinking
next couple of games
at least we got bale
gw2-3-4-5 he's my captinOpen Controlsyeah, spurs fixtures are awesome. i'm thinking of bringing ekotto in!
Open Controls
I'd like them to hold off as long as possible, having Defoe in my team 😉
Open Controls
Not too bothered. There's plenty of quality options in his price range like Tevez, Giroud, Suarez, Podolski, Bent, Jelavic. And you can beef up on Spurs with some of their big 3 MFs.
Open Controlsi worry about siggy and VDV being nailed on in attacking positions tbh. i'd rather get a defender who's good at attacking, even if AVB's hardly renowned for clean sheets...
Open Controls
My squad is:
Cech - Jaaskelainen
Zabaleta - Hangeland - Demel - Vertonghen - Cuellar
Pienaar - Santi Cazorla - Mata - McClean - Michu
Graham - Tevez - Torres
with no money left over.
I'm planning on transferring out Mata with my free transfer this week and Torres -> Adebayor/ Rooney next week, who do I bring in?
A. Bale - no money left over
B. Nasri/ Yaya - enough money to upgrade McClean to HBA/ Lennon if Sunderland get Johnson
C. HBA/ Lennon - enough money to upgrade Torres to Rooney
D. Wait til tomorrow night and then buy Kagawa/ Valencia for Man U coverOpen Controlssource?

How do you log out of FPL?
Am i dumb? I know they've tweaked the site a little bitOpen ControlsImportant information
If the logout link isn't appearing you can logout by restarting your browser or using the logout link on the premierleague.com home page.
I dunno if the link is appearing or not, but I certainly cant see it so just go to the prem league homepage and theres the option to logout on the FPL section on thereOpen ControlsGreat thanks TT. It did seem a little strange

Anyone care to fill me in on how the second half of the Chelsea game and the City game went?
I missed them because of work.
Fantasy wise, I'm happy with where my team's at right now. Rue picking Cole over Ivanovic, but it'll pass. There'll be a lot more moments like that as the season goes on.Open ControlsWhich keeper will you play next week? I have the same choice.
I only saw match of the day, so can't give a very good account.Open ControlsFederici. Sunderland look inert up front. At the end of last season too, they were having trouble scoring.
Swansea on the other hand look free flowing and deadly.Open Controls
Well, City v Saints was just a crazy end-to-end second half. Lots of counter attacking.
Chelsea just shut up shop because Wigan had looked dangerous in the latter stages of the first half.Open Controlsyeah. alan smith was going on about chelsea playing 'a dangerous game', but to me they were doing the safest thing possible, playing to their strengths. very difficult to break that team down when it sits back like that, as they've proven time and time again. wigan looked really good in the middle of the park, just wasteful at the front and dodgy at the back - same old story in other words.
city game was crazy open in the second half yeah. 😀 mancini must've been having a fit.Open Controls
Chelsea weren't great second half, they just did enough. Wigan looked likely to score.
Interestingly Cole and Bertrand were swapping the LB and LW position.
Hazard was subbed on the hour.
Lampard played very far forward for the last 10 or 15 after Hazard and Mata had gone off.
Torres was rubbish up until the final whistle.
Terry looked good, made some important tackles / clearances.
As for City.
It was the worst game i've ever seen Silva have in a City jersey. Missed a terrible penalty like shane Long's yesterday, hit the crossbar with a complete sitter from 5 yards out and gave the ball away cheaply with uncharacteristic sloppy passing.
Nasri on the other hand was class and practically ran the show.
Yaya was box to box as usual but got into a lot of threatening positions, he looked quality too.
Tevez looked sharp, took his goal very nicely and linked up well.
From an FPL perspective, even though Clichy got an assist, Zabaletta was the stand out defensive option. Always bombing forward and may have had an assist or two on another day.
Dzeko played like he was drunk. Apart from his goal which was simple, a traffic bollard would have been more effective.
Balotelli looked off the pace a bit and missed a very good opportunity at a crucial time inthe game.
Southampton looked quite good.
They're a young team, they're fit and didn't seem to tire too much after 70 minutes. They had quite a good counter attack and managed to get a lot of bodies forward. Clyne looked and Lallana looked okay, Lambert took his goal well. Puncheon was rubbish.Open Controls"Dzeko played like he was drunk. Lovely stuff!Open Controls
I thought Chelsea played at a much faster pace than the last few seasons and may well be more of an attacking threat if Torres can improve at least a reasonable amount...he was unlucky not to score on one occasion but otherwise did little...but Chelsea could have lost any amount of goals you'd like to name in the second half and were pretty lucky to win in my opinion...luckily for them Moses is no goalscorer although he played well...Kone looked much more threatening than Di Santo...Oscar had a decent effort
Southampton could have conceded plenty more but played really well on the counter in the second half...Silva had a mare (sigh) but actually had several near things from very central positions in the penalty area...Tevez played OK...Nasri and Yaya pretty well...overall Wigan threatened Chelsea a hell of a lot more than Saints threatened Man CityOpen Controls
Morning all, how did we all do then?
I'm on 43 with some CHE & REA to come, so pretty disappointing overall. First knee-jerk of the season has been made, with a point hit expected to follow before Saturday!Open Controlsu both probbly have a long term team
dont worry
the high ranks now have gw1 teamOpen Controls- Open Controls
😆
Open Controls
hi dude. 74 for me, got hazard (C) torres ivanovic and pienaar still to play. i'm taking a hit too!
Open Controls29 🙁
VDV, Ramires and Aguero put me in the "unlucky" bracket.Open Controls89 with Rooney, Ivan, Mata (c) & Fed to come. Very pleased early on!
Open ControlsBloody great score, well done! You have a shot for overall top score for the GW
Open ControlsThanks RCA. Would be fantastic. Just happy with a decent start for once & with only 2 CHE i'm not forced to take hits.
Open Controls
Cheers Jins. Let's hope I can keep it up. 15k finish last yr, would love to improve on that this season. So happy went with the gut on Petric / Nasri & Leaving out Torres (obviously cud still prove costly).
Open ControlsWell, you've got a great base to start from. A long way to go, but right now you are bang in the hunt for a top 1 finish!
I had my PB last year - not the start I wanted this year to try and top it!Open ControlsThanks mate.
Wow impressive last season mate. We are only a week, plenty of time to improve that luck & rank.Open Controls
63 points
Aguero & Kolarov Fail 🙁Open Controls71 with Rooney, Lampard(C), Cole and Federici still to come.
Open Controls
so if i dont change any player tell gw3 i get 3 transfers
im getting 3 tottinham playersOpen ControlsBPs Allocated Already? 😯
Brilliant Work!!Open ControlsBest midfielder for 9.0? Already have Cazorla
Open ControlsMichu 😉
Open Controls
my team number changed from last season so the link on my username was to some other guys team who was frankly... shit.
check yoursOpen ControlsOne of the first things I did was change my user I.D.
The random guy who has my number from last year, has no doubt, had an infinitely better GW1 than me...sigh.Open Controls
if i end up first in my country im a happy man
Open ControlsFrom being a part of the world, and being aware of my surroundings.
Open Controls
Just noticed Michu got only 2 BPs 😕
