With many of the big clubs choosing to splash the cash this summer, there are plenty of highly-priced midfield recruits firmly under the Fantasy radar over the first few Gameweeks. In today’s Members article, we analyse the displays of Santi Cazorla and Shinji Kagawa against Sunderland and Everton respectively, and also run the rule over Eden Hazard’s first couple of league appearances in a Chelsea shirt:

Rather bizarrely, all three players’ last games for their respective clubs saw the trio produce an identical number of successful passes in the final third – a figure superior to any other player in Gameweek 1 and a clear indication as to how important they will prove to be over the season ahead. Looking at their roles within their new clubs, we compare each player’s stats to key individuals within their own teams as well as highlighting how the trio differ from one another in style:

          I think it would be a bit early TBH, i'd wait till it becomes clearer. Last thing you want to be doing is wasting a precious transfer on someone who might not start.

    Rooney has been poor last couple of seasons. I'm so glad RVP has come in because it takes the pressure off him. Rooney was 10 times better when he was around players like RVN, Ronaldo & Tevez. Really hope he steps up his game, because it has been dwindling. I am worried for him, but at the same time i am highly optimistic as well.

        Do you actually watch football? Berba scored 20 odd the season before playing half the games. He's a united striker. By default, they score shit loads of goals. His touch was poor last season and he could not dictate play. Lost his pace as well. He was so much more 2 years ago. He could not step his game up against the big teams, in fact he was marked out of all of them. Always disappeared on the occassion. I am talking about the football watch. What are you talking about?

          it just defies belief how such a ridiculous statement can be made.

          in case you didn't realise, you said "Rooney has been poor last couple of seasons". at what point did that make sense? he has been the most consistently good teams best player. i dont have any time for Man Utd but apart from the start of the 2010/11 season when he had his personal issues / contract dispute, he has been awesome for Utd.

          I still I will do well, I was just making a point about the random nature of H2H. You can have a poor week and win, and you have a good week and lose. It's luck of the draw over who you get on any given week, I just happened to get one of the 3 people League 2 who outscored me.

      Larsson is just as good playing central midfield as he is out wide. After MON's comments about McClean playing on the right this could make it all pretty interesting attack wise at Sunderland. I expect them to do really well this season, top 8.
