Has a stitched Wayne Rooney made things simple? Have we already got the template attacking lineup? Certainly Robin Van Persie’s goal, coupled with the injury to Rooney that looks to have sidelined him for a month, suggests that the source of attacking points at United is settled. Unless, of course, you’re committing to the slick trickery of Shinji Kagawa over Van Persie’s pure goal power.

City’s Carlos Tevez surely has another spot up front reserved for him and, while Fernando Torres is doing his upmost to cling to our affections, Eden Hazard’s irresistible form surely means that we have a preferred route to Chelsea’s flowing attacking points.

After just two weeks, a combination of Van Persie, Tevez and Hazard appears to give the very best coverage of potentially the three most potent teams in the league.

You can argue around this – Kagawa, Samir Nasri and Torres all offer the alternatives but, right now, while these words are typed, I’m struggling to see past this new holy trinity as the most powerful combination.

Throw in Michu, Steven Pienaar or Mauroanne Fellaini – perhaps dabble with Danny Graham up front while Swansea’s fixtures remain favourable, or even Emmanuel Adebayor to cover Tottenham’s attacking threat, and the template after Gameweek 2 begins to look solid.

As we discussed in the ScoutCast this week, there will be new names emerging that will threaten to break the ideas we have now but, in all honesty, it’s difficult to see Van Persie, Tevez and Hazard being anything other than season keepers; barring injury.

It can’t really be that simple and yet the twist of fate that saw Rooney first benched and then stretchered down the tunnel, almost rubber-stamped matters. There will surely be thousands scrambling for Van Perise, even more suitors for Hazard after another bout or returns from this evening’s victory. Meanwhile, Tevez has Liverpool in his sights tomorrow with a clear run of appearances while Sergio Aguero recuperates.

If you currently sit on all three, congratulations; please fight back the smugness. If you’ve none of the above, cling to the hope that there’s naivety in these words and that these power houses will falter. Either that, or scrub up for some serious squad surgery.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

cool, thanks! i'm hoping ivanovic goes up to 6.7 and RVP doesn't quite get enough hits to rise above 13, so i can get rid of one, buy the other, and make an actual profit! RVP is dangerously close to rising though at the moment - think he's 94% of the way there or something!

This is a bit of a "past reputation" thing. Reckless, to be sure, in first season, with 12 yellows, but much improved since then. Dropped off to 6, 3, and 6 over the subsequent three years. Has only had one straight red in four years.

No. He came up as more of a defensive mid, with people thinking that's what he was because of his size. But honestly, since they brought in Gibson to sit back as a defensive mid at the winter window last year, Fellaini has been moved forward into his more attacking role and he has thrived there since then. I don't see it changing much, but Moyes never lets anybody know what he's thinking and there are a couple new faces that aren't fully factored into the formation (Naismith, Mirallas)

Moyes might use him more as a central midfield once Naismith/Mirallas have gained their fitness (one of them will play the right side attacker)......Fellaini is very flexible though, he might be used upfront if Everton is in a need of a goal or if the game is calling for it (e.g. against the likes of Stoke).....or if Jellavic is injured, as they don't have many covers for that position

Is anyone else reluctant to sell Torres? He's not the player he once was but I think he'll do well this season with the amount of chances the Chelsea midfield will create.
I have Mata in my team and would rather sell him, but Torres > Tevez really needs to be done as Tevez is nearly a must-have for this week.

I'm on 67 points and somehow I'm a bit perturbed. What appeared initially to be a dream week, Tottenham drop their clean sheet at the end (Friedel), Bale gets a predictable 2 (thankfully I captained Graham), Everton lose out on a clean sheet as well (Baines), and Hazard keeps being Hazard.

I played my WC last week and only got Hazard in at 9.6, thus dropping him to fit my team. And now I planned on staying put, but if I do then he'll be 10.0 and I'll be left behind. DAMN THAT GUY.

Seems like the right thing to do.....leading both my mini leagues and well need to make a few changes to keep up the momentum an need to rebalance a few things like bring in some swan defence and had no ManU players at all so......

Loving my new team right now.

I am bringing in Santon. He has good attacking threat and gets the odd bonus point here & there...

Coloccini is the captain so he is most nailed on and won't get subbed. Ryan Taylor if you feel like a punt, that man can score goals, but he's not 90 mins fit yet.

What's happened to this place?! A couple of years ago there were only a few of us deadzoners here, clicking away throughout the night - now it seems just as busy here as at 11.20 on a saturday morning!

i am giving bale one last chance. same with cazorla, but he still has a game in hand. if they don't do anything, i'm going bale and cazorla to nasri and hazard

Nasri should definitely go up in price today:
        http://www.fiso.co.uk/crackthecode.php

Im gonna stick with Bale - spurs fixtures are excellent and he's the only attacking player guaranteed of 90 minutes every game

do you guys think nasri is nailed on, now with sinclair also coming into city? if he is going to rise, i can't afford him later, so i need to take a -4 to take cazorla out and nasri in which feels wrong

I don't think nasri is nailed-on, personally, not for the full 90 anyway, even more so now with sinclair as you say. Yaya will play 90 mins and cost you less

but sinclair doesn't play in nasri's position. so i really don't know

Bale having one last chance with me, too. I have brought Ade in, so think that might be enough coverage after Norwich game.

Transfers can wait. Want to buy Michu as he will rise 0.1m tonight, but was going to sell Ivanovic and he's going to rise and gain me 0.1m, so no advantage to do it now.

Wait until tomorrow, maybe Cazorla, Tevez, Zabaleta or Yaya will get injured.

Unless I do Cazorla to Michu...... damn it!

Spurs game one of the few today I didn't see any of. For those that know about the situation:

-Should/Is Adebayor going to start next week?
-Any chance Bale stops delivering me 2 pointers while I endure Create-a-Player Hazard dominate every week?

Hopefully this will answer both your questions: i watched the match and one of the main problems Spurs had was that Bale and Lennon providing a lot of decent balls but there werent enough people in the Box attacking them, which is where Adebayor can be effective. He came on for the last 30mins but didnt get much of a chance to imprint himself. Hopefully AvB will start him for the match.
