Has a stitched Wayne Rooney made things simple? Have we already got the template attacking lineup? Certainly Robin Van Persie’s goal, coupled with the injury to Rooney that looks to have sidelined him for a month, suggests that the source of attacking points at United is settled. Unless, of course, you’re committing to the slick trickery of Shinji Kagawa over Van Persie’s pure goal power.

City’s Carlos Tevez surely has another spot up front reserved for him and, while Fernando Torres is doing his upmost to cling to our affections, Eden Hazard’s irresistible form surely means that we have a preferred route to Chelsea’s flowing attacking points.

After just two weeks, a combination of Van Persie, Tevez and Hazard appears to give the very best coverage of potentially the three most potent teams in the league.

You can argue around this – Kagawa, Samir Nasri and Torres all offer the alternatives but, right now, while these words are typed, I’m struggling to see past this new holy trinity as the most powerful combination.

Throw in Michu, Steven Pienaar or Mauroanne Fellaini – perhaps dabble with Danny Graham up front while Swansea’s fixtures remain favourable, or even Emmanuel Adebayor to cover Tottenham’s attacking threat, and the template after Gameweek 2 begins to look solid.

As we discussed in the ScoutCast this week, there will be new names emerging that will threaten to break the ideas we have now but, in all honesty, it’s difficult to see Van Persie, Tevez and Hazard being anything other than season keepers; barring injury.

It can’t really be that simple and yet the twist of fate that saw Rooney first benched and then stretchered down the tunnel, almost rubber-stamped matters. There will surely be thousands scrambling for Van Perise, even more suitors for Hazard after another bout or returns from this evening’s victory. Meanwhile, Tevez has Liverpool in his sights tomorrow with a clear run of appearances while Sergio Aguero recuperates.

If you currently sit on all three, congratulations; please fight back the smugness. If you’ve none of the above, cling to the hope that there’s naivety in these words and that these power houses will falter. Either that, or scrub up for some serious squad surgery.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

He looked very good, despite a penchant for diving after minimal contact with a defender. Took his goal very well. Could be on his way back to the Torres of old; but that hasn't stopped me selling him though 🙂

I only caught the last part of the game; he looked well off the pace. Spurs often have trouble battering the poorer teams at home (Wigan a few years ago excepted of course). I hope Ade will gain enough sharpness in training this week to do the business at the weekend. There is of course the risk that AVB may start him on the bench again.

So in answer to your question, it's a big risk imo.

But my name isn't Triggerlips 😀

I know that feeling. I have gone down your suggested path, with Kagawa as United cover and Barndoor up front. Gives me the option of getting Hazard in the week after for either Bale or Cazorla.

With Rooney out of the picture, for sure it will benefit RVP, but it will also do the same for Shinji. l

      Zab, Hange, Vidic

Thoughts on Adebayor/spurs coverage, with the way their results have gone, do you think it might be a bit risky to invest at the moment, they desperately need to win their next few which leads me to think AVB might scrounge out 1-0 wins at all costs. Bringing in Adebayor I'd like to imagine they start getting back to hammering sides but AVB seems a really stubborn conservative manager, to his detriment at times. Plus I suppose Spurs have a wealth of attacking options...I'm not convinced on The Ade option just yet.

nahh team looks pretty solid. you should be looking to make AT LEAST 5-6 changes if you're gunna wc. 4 changes can be solved with 2 hits over 2 weeks or 1 hit over 3 weeks.

and if you're on wc i'd look to get hazard, and baines, and downgrade hangeland to hughes for extra .5

but i think you can easily sort it by doing valencia to kagawa this week, bale to hazard next week and then go from there

Do people agree with me that the value in the 6.5-7 mids is too much to pass up on and the other 9-10 mils apart from Hazard just aren't performing.

      No. Last chance for Bale.

Yep I agree. Dyer/Michu/Pienaar are all already doing the business and then theres McClean and Larsson who have only had 1 game (away at Arse) to show what they can do.

I think for the money they are all great value.

my midfield has worked wonders from the start

        Michu Pienaar McClean Hazard Kawaga

McClean did me a big favour by not playing , as Pienaar will come off the bench, and he now there for the dgw

At the moment I can only field 9 players next week so should I do 2xtransfers for a 4 point hit so I can have a full starting 11 next GW?

I have Torres, Hazard, Harte, Pog and A.Cole. Harte and Pog will have 2x games in a week soon and A.Cole, Torres, Hazard are playing well. I'm thinking of Harte -> Rangel.

    Which is the best?
    a) Harte -> Rangel
    b) A.Cole to Baines
    c) Torres to Tevez/Ade
    d) 2 of the above for a 4 point hit so I can have a starting 11 next GW

    Thanks!

surely D. all trades look good. tevez is home to QPR and Ade hope to NOR so both could be great captaincy options. and baines i see as a must within a few weeks for his prime fixtures coming up. rangel another good bet

If you had to do 2 of the above would you swap out 1 defender and 1 striker rather than 2 defenders? The only thing is I'm not sure I want to lose Torres... (my other 2 x strikers are Pog and RVP)

morning all - how much do we think hazard will be before gw4 starts? I'm trying to free up enough cash this week to upgrade lamps to hazard before w4. I'll start the guessing at 10.1 ?

Hi lads, my FPL team is having a shocker this week...

    DDG Federici
McCartney Cuellar Hangeland A. Cole Lescott
Bale Noble Lampard Y. Toure Guthrie
    Graham Rooney Tevez

So as you can see, Rooney + 3 Chelsea players won't play GW 3. I thought about WCing, but I think it is better to do it GW 3 so I can make a bit of money too. I need to get a full team out for GW 3, what do you suggest?

    Cheers

Anyone think Hazard will surpass the 10.0 mark by Friday week??! Seems insane but people are already moving him in and taking the hit on the blank game week, so imagine the amount of people that'll bring him in the following week when they're gonna be up against QPR.....

So, I've played my WildCard after waking up and being uncontrollably pissed at Lescott and Sceszney not playing overnight.

My new team looks like this:

    Friedal, Jaskaleinen
    Zabaleta, Ivanovic, Jenkinson, Rangel, Demel
    Hazard, Kagawa, Toure, Dyer, Kacaniklic
    RVP, Tevez, Graham

Decided to get on board the RVP-wagon, mainly due to the plethora of bargain-basement defensive options at the moment. Also may well end up opting or El Ahmadi over Kac.

I figure Zabaleta looks relatively safe at the moment, at a bare minimum for a month or so till Richards comes back, and quite possibly longer.

Initially bought Vorm into the lineup, but Friedal and Rangel offered the best pathway into both Swansea and Spurs defensive returns (which will hopefully be fruitful..)

Jenkinson will do me in the short-term. Hopefully will make some money to use a double trade and upgrade him in a month's time once Sagna is back. Demel was a bit of a coin toss, but seems to be one of two best 4.0 options.

Missed the Michu bangwagon last week and opted for Dyer instead, I'll stick with him going forward.

I had Torres prior to pulling the trigger on the WC, but think RVP, Tevez and Graham is a pretty gun combination up front.

Any comments/criticism would be greatly appreciated, especially regarding my keeper combo and defensive selections.

Not sure if I personally would put in Jenkinson atm. You may find he only plays one game and Sagna comes back after the International break.
Throw in a possible new right back at Chelsea and Richards returning to fitness around the same time, you may find yourself with a few defensive headaches.

How about Raphael instead of Ivan? Would allow you to upgrade jenkinson to Sagna in future and catch Jenkinson price rise???

Love the front 8 btw 🙂

    Vorm (Federici)
Kompany Hangeland Taylor S (Ivanovic Gorkss)
    Michu (Hazard) Cazorla Larsson Toure
    Tevez (Pog) Defoe
Players in brackets dont have fixtures.

Any knee jerks?? Was planning Hazard > Kagawa for this week and then Cazorla > Hazard the next GW.

    Thnx guys!! 😀
