When compared to the vast majority of sides that have previously been promoted from the Championship, Blackpool’s impact in the Premier League has been a real breath of fresh air. Pre-season, most talk was centred around Ian Holloway and how -somewhat patronisingly- the Seasiders’ boss would bring a “bit of character” to the top division, but the first seven gameweeks have seen his team’s on-pitch performances grab the headlines instead.

Central to the team’s success has been the club’s playmaker Charlie Adam. The ex-Rangers man currently sits on 38pts in the Fantasy Premier League (FPL) game, the third-highest scoring midfielder in the game so far, behind only Florent Malouda and Nani. A breakdown of his points shows Adam has scored 2 goals, made 2 assists and has 9 Bonus Points, being awarded the maximum 3 on 3 occasions, including the club’s last game, the 2-1 win at Anfield, where he bagged a penalty. In terms of midfielders, only Mikel Arteta can match this as a Bonus “darling”.

A look at our OPTA Stats, showing Adam’s involvement in the games, may explain why this is. Only three players have saw more of the ball; his 616 “Touches” is more than the likes of Arteta and Steven Gerrard and just five behind Paul Scholes. His 15 “Shots at Goal” have him in the top ten midfielders, and defensive-wise, he’s also in the top ten midfielders for “Duels”, “Aerial Duels”, “Loose Ball Recoveries” and “Blocks”. Added to the fact he’s on set-pieces and penalties, and it becomes clearer to see exactly not just how influential Adam is for Blackpool, but, perhaps, how eye-catching he may be to the Bonus Point judges.

With most people expecting Graham Dorrans to be the main Fantasy option from the promoted sides, thanks to Holloway’s attacking ethos, Adam has subsequently out-shone his fellow Scot by some margin already. Blackpool’s approach to games has meant that, despite playing five of their first seven matches away from home, they tend to get amongst the goals, with only Chelsea and Arsenal keeping clean sheets against Holloway’s men so far.

Adam comes in at just £5.2m and is owned by 9% of FPL managers so far. Such a low price means that, in terms of “Value“, he is joint-top, with West Brom’s Peter Odemwingie. Blackpool now have four of their seven fixtures at home (MCY, bir, WBA, EVE, avl, whm, WOL) though judging by their displays so far, it almost seems an irrelevance as to what ground their fixtures are played on. The one constant that does flow through them, however, is the Fantasy potential of Charlie Adam.

Paul Is certain he won't make the same mistakes next season. Follow them on Twitter

Rather torn between Petrov and Adam. On one hand consider Petrov to be the better player on the other hand acknowledge that Adam is on set pieces and a more central figure.

Therefore I guess Adam is a better bet?

    Repost (Sorta)

The true feeling of disappointment, Last night went I went to my local teams FA Cup 3rd Qualifying Round Replay, Away at Dartford (Canvey island my team), they’re the league above us and twice in the last three seasons have one the league that we are in. They have always beaten us and beaten us well. Saturday, we went 1-0 up after 7 mins, they scored on 70 and 76 to take the lead, 93rd minute penalty to us, we scored. Replay. We went 1-0 up early again, about 5 minutes later they equalised, then got another before Half time. Second half, were all over them, get us on the break 3-1 Game over?? No, 30 yard screamer from one of our players (Alex Rhodes) then with about 10 minutes to go he scored again 3-3, Free kick in stoppage time for us, Hit the post!. Extra Time, Two chances for us, one hit the bar, one just, just wide. Penalties. They took first. Got up to 5-5 they missed, just this penalty to win it, HITS BOTH POSTS! Then went up to the tenth penalty in the end, we needed this to stay in it, MISSED!! So so sad, Lost 9-8 on penalties. The (Not so) beauty of Non-League football and the FA Cup ay?

P.S Jamsiep. Forest Green Vs Maidenhead isn't half the tie that we would have god. Lieston Away!, would of almost guaranteed us 1st round proper Fa Cup action 🙁 AND your not aloud to shit on GregHammers stories! Also Tommy K, Canvey Island doesn't flood every couple of months, just one big one some time in the past, We put a massive wall up and floods are no more.

Why? He's started two games at home this season, Bolton and Braga, both times he scored big, he's has had two weeks to get properly fit so there is no reason for him to be eased in, if anything the international break would have done him more good as it was two extra weeks of fitness work after just missing out on Chelsea.

Players drop 0.1 if they lose either:

    10% of their ownership

    OR

    29k NTO (Net transfers out)

    Whichever involves less transfers applies.

Therefore, to work out the threshold for what players are eligible for what rule:

    29k / 0.1 = 290k (the amount of people that must own the player where 10% = 29k)

    Then 290k / 2,211,909 = 0.131108467... or 13.1%

So basically any player owned by less than 13.1% loses 0.1 off their price if they have 10% sell them, and any player owned by more than 13.1% loses 0.1 off their price if 29k sell them.

A bit cheap at the back. Fine if you don't make anymore transfers as you're midfield and strikers are strong, but you CAN transfer, so due to things like fixtures, the best 'front 8' at any given time, is unlikely to require as much cash as you are currently ploughing into it...

For instance, Spurs fixtures suck a bit, Newcastle's are quite good, therefore if VDV and Nolan were switched, then arguably for the next 6 gameweeks or so, you have a slightly stronger front 8, and a bit more cash in reserve. If you couldn't make anymore changes for the rest of the season, then VDV should score more points than Nolan, but not neccessarily over the next 6 weeks.

*Not suggesting you should get Nolan, just using him as an example.

My thoughts 4 all the gerrard to fabs contemplaters including myself:

gw8 is a merseyside derby so pool must surely put some effort in, and with torres and kuyt out gerrard will be their main man. fabs is fresh from injury and may take some time to settle, and brum r no pushovers anyway. by gw9 pool's takeover wil prob have been completed and there wil be a good feeling around anfield. they have an easy home match and gerrard could be emphatic. in gw 9 fabs is away to city, of course fabs could well score in that match, but chances r slimmer.

obviously fabs is better than gerard and, if u can, get fabs, all im saying is if u have more pressing matters, there is no need 2 put gerrard>fabs on top of the priority list

Rio has unreliable fitness. An on-form Evra for 0.2m more than Vidic is tempting.

B infinitely! Routledge is pants, and despite Ben Arfa being injured, Gutierrez played well last match and Guthrie is lurking in the shadows, meaning you would have to worry about his starting role again.

John Galvin not getting an All Star is farcical really.

He was just awesome yet again despite the lack of top class players around him.

Year in Year out he is the best midfielder in the country.

If losing so many finals wasnt bad enough he has to see players he dominates game after game get awards based on the fact their team gets further.

This year his performances were up there with any other player in the country.

If there was any athlete in the world I admire its Galvin. The fact he keeps coming back year after year knowin he is as good as anyone but will now probably never win anything is just extraordinary. I literally was lost for words for the lad especially when he lost the final again this year for the 4th time and again so close.
So close after 110 odd years.....

BUT,....... he's crap cos he only competes against Irish people in GAA right? (as opposed to soccer players who compete v the world). I jsut want to clarigy, you respect any athlete in the world, it's Galvin, YET, he, according to you is inferior based on the fact he only competes in Ireland.

am i right there DB? thats what you said before right? I just want to clarify......

I'm fascinated what comes back, i'm being civil, and I have a genuine stake in the answer. This whole put down by me, of him, over the past month or two has been based pretty much on that statement- that GAA players are inferior to international athletes because they compete on this island alone.

Now, i went on to cal him mad cos he's always contradicting himself, felt bad the odd time, but it was always merited cos he always came up talkin shit. Even today, i was quite civil, two major topics came on, i debated him down, then BAM, i get attacked.

I really want all that crap to stop, despite how enterntaining it is. And to be honest, this is the last sraw i think, i'm completely don with it, my point has been quite comprehensibly made in the last15 minutes, more than any amount of funy posts and bogs and menal accusations can.

Lets have a normal debate so.

Why do you think honestly a game played in one Island alone with a population so small can be compared to say Soccer or Ice Hockey or Sprinting say where firstly Billion have played it and the competition is so fierce and intense that in order to get to the top level you have to be so focused its almost impossible to make it for 99.99%

When you compare this to say your average Gaa player who has about say 100- 150 players to get past to get onto his county panel to me you cant compare it.

For entertainment and skill in itself its excellent. But I really think the Gaa % RTE do the game a disservice by saying its the best in the world and the athletes are the best.

Id much rather it if such a comparison were not made and many of friends and fans feel the same.
Its excellent in itself but it shouldnt be compared or games on a compeltey different playing field.

Putting words into my mouth yet again I see.
He aint inferior cos he competes in Ireland the game he plays is not as widely played and is not professional. However much you and I or whoever love Gaa sports you cant say it can stand with the major sports in the world when it comes down to overall skill , ability , performance.
What it can do is provide an excellent standard of entertainment on occasion. This is where I believe people try to claim it is equal to the major sports which is fair enough but this doesnt mean the athletes are anywhere near their professional counterparts.

It is played by so few people compared to other sports that it actually is a diservice to the Gaa to compare it other sports. Its different and shouldnt try to compete with more popular sports.
Firslty the playing base is tiny so therefore the competition is less and this is what increases performance in other sports. The fact that there are only 32 elite also takes away from any arguement it is on par with and thats debatable also. Most of the teams are also pretty poor in skill base and in Hurling the game outside the top 6 is non existant.

          Regarding Galvin.

Im comparing Galvin firstly to his peers in the sport saying he should be recognised.

Secondly its not his ability which I admire above any other athlete cos that would just be silly but its his motivation to come back year after year when he knows he wont get any recognition.

Admit it your just surprised I follow or know Gaa.
I could write a book about it since ive played and been to 1000s of games but this aint the place.

No im not. I think its still laughable to to say its the best in the world

SOM my orginal debate a long long time ago regarding the Gaa has nothing to do with the above

It was about money and facilities that Gaa takes away from other sports.

Take for example Sweden. The spread of sports is far more varied there. Their atheles are more vareid on the world level across the sports.

Its easy to see the link between Ireland poor performances in many sports. In every community in ireland there is a Gaa field. In every community in Ireland money is pumped in by goverment and other organistions.,

I think a more equal spread would benefit us greatly unless we want to live in a world where we will only have irish world champions who are so cos they have beaten other irish men.

I like Gaa as a spectacle , I like all sports pretty much but I dont like the monoply the game has in this country.

Ermm, Perhaps do it GW10, Difficult this week, Means you can have Gerrard against Blackburn next week and Malouda Vs Wolves, Then you will have Fabs for the easy games on GW10 and 11, you only miss out on Nani this week :S Not to good and a risky Fabs this week too. Perhaps just Gerrard -> Nani this week?? That would be my suggestion.
