Prior to his arrival at Goodison last January, there were plenty who questioned whether Nikica Jelavic could produce the goods in the Premier League. The Croatian’s superb scoring record for Glasgow Rangers was dismissed by cynics, who deemed the level of Scottish top-flight competition far too lightweight to judge a player’s real potential. Fast forward four months and Jelavic’s Everton record of nine goals from 13 appearances was proof enough that David Moyes, finally, had found a first-class finisher to lead the line for the Merseysiders:

Steven Pienaar’s loan return for the second half of last season also proved critical. With the South African’s left flank understanding with Leighton Baines producing a potent source of creativity which Jelavic was all too happy to feed upon, the Toffees customary climb up the table earned them a seventh place finish. As the lone frontman in Moyes’ favoured 4-5-1, Jelavic, from just 10 starts, had returned 11 bonus points in addition to those nine goals in the Fantasy Premier League games and accrued 69 points; a clear indication of his Fantasy potential.

With Pienaar back on a permanent basis and Marouane Fellaini terrorising defences in support of Jelavic up top, Everton have already beaten United and eased past Villa before succumbing to West Brom at the Hawthorns last weekend. While the midfielders have picked up plenty of suitors thanks to their eye-catching performances, Jelavic has crept under the radar somewhat, despite getting off the mark in the Gameweek 2 win at Villa Park.

In part, it’s down to Robin Van Persie and Carlos Tevez. With FPL managers desperate to install both in their frontlines, the need for a cut-price forward to balance the budget means 8.5 priced Jelavic currently has just 10% ownership. In the Sky Sports game, it’s another matter entirely, though – with just 30 transfers to make over the season, the Croatian is fourth most popular forward thus far – a real show of faith in his consistency.

Moyes will be keen to bounce back from the Baggies loss and, looking at the fixture ticker, Everton have a superb run of fixtures on their agenda over the next couple of months to profit from. Between now and Gameweek 13, Jelavic will welcome (NEW, SOT, LIV, SUN, NOR) to Goodison and with Baines’ creativity, in particular, a real stand out feature of the Toffees play right now, the Croatian could well be in line to rack up the goals and offer a viable value alternative to those brave enough to overlook the services of the free-scoring Manchester duo.

if a player goes up 0.3 since you bought him, am i right in saying you only keep 0.1 of the profit?

I'm trying to deduce the benefit of having a player during a Wildcard and assessing whether there is any point in holding on for the third price rise if you intend to sell before the next deadline.

Is it still that subsequent price rises take more NTI the initial one?

If so then there is even the argument for completely ignoring the first price rise in a GW where a player will definitely have three (i.e Tevez, Hazrad, Michu). Gives more time to contemplate transfers (if only doing it for the 0.1) and avoids potential knee-jerking to catch a rise before a complete set of matches in a GW have been completed.

    Santi/Guthrie/Hazard/Michu/Nolan
    RVP/Handsome Carlos/Fletch

If Yaya rises once more I can sell his lucky ass and make it happen.

The plan would be to swap Ivan and Jenk for a better 7.0/4.0 combination when Sangna comes back. Also very tempted by Gibbs who seems to be nailed on at 5.5

What do I do with Bale? I don't want to lose value with him so I'm considering off loading him. I do need United coverage.

    Does this work?

Bale > 6M mid (Morrison, Routledge, etc) and Torres > RVP.

I have the money for it now just barely. Torres is playing an easy fixture though. Decisions Decisions!

    Friedel - Federici

    Baines - Lescott - Hangeland - Demel - Clyne

    Bale - Cazorla - Hazard - Noble - Guthrie

    Tevez - Torres - Graham

You already have lost value on Bale, he's dropped £0.1m. I wouldn't do it to be honest. It's really about is RvP better than Torres - probably yes but not necessarily by that much on current form. I'd run with Bale/Torres GW4, see what gives.

Remember, always a chance of intl injury before then forcing your hand one way or other.

repost from earlier thread....don't want to get a reputation for bum stats!

wires crossed on the CS info, here’s the real deal, followed by goals scored to this point the last 3 seasons:

    CS out of 58 opportunities, 2012: 16 or 27.6%
    CS out of 58 opportunities, 2011: 22 or 37.9%
    CS out of 58 opportunities, 2010: 19 or 32.6%

    GS through 29 matches, 2012: 83
    GS through 29 matches, 2011: 72
    GS through 29 matches, 2010: 85

So it appears CS ARE less common this year than in the past 2 seasons, while goals are back on the 2010 pace!

    Hmmmm.

Another difference this year is where the CS are coming from. I create my own fixture list and rank the teams each week from 1 to 20. For the past several years, 60-70% of the CS have come from the top 10 teams (helps me with choosing defenders). Very consistent each GW. For the first 3 GWs this year the number is 50%. In other words, tossing a coin number.

Just hold off to see what injuries will happen over the break. International fixtures have a habit of throwing up injury dilemmas.

            Yes my friend.

Keep a very close eye on the price increases. If bale looks to be going down and/or RVP up then do your transfer. If not wait until as near to the next games as possible just to avoid injury worries.

RVP while he's in the form he is you can't do with out. A season keeper as long as he's healthy.

      Bains with out a doubt.

Ban Arfa vs Yaya you could argue the merits of both so flip a coin. Yaya no doubt will be pushed into a more midfield position when silva is back but until then take ya pick.

I like Ben Arfa for the price and Yaya will surely slow down scoring. Yaya is nailed on though.
Second one is a little easier, go with Baines as he's worth every penny.

I want as many opinions as you can get. Is shipping Bale and Torres out for a 6.0 Mid and RVP worth it at the moment?

    Friedel - Federici

Baines - Lescott- Hangeland - Demel - Clyne

    Bale - Cazorla - Hazard - Noble - Guthrie

    Tevez - Torres - Graham

Similar situation and I'm refusing to do it for a hit.

Torres +4 could easily outscore RVP, especially with Man U's tougher fixtures coming up and then Rooney's return. And surely Bale will come good eventually with the fixtures ahead.

Will probably be the wrong decision not to get RVP in but I'm convincing myself that I don't need him!

I bought Ridge in ahead of McAuley on Saturday thinking Ridge was more nailed on, but yesterdays watchlist update put McAuley ahead of ridge which is a minor cause for concern, but from what I have read on here other Ridge owners don't sound too concerned and the consensus seems to be that he will keep his place.

I don't get the "big helping hand from Reina" position. It was a hard, low shot and Reina had to get down in a fraction of a second, and failed to get down fast enough.

If he'd not touched the ball, it would have been heralded as an unstoppable shot.

here here, it was going right in the net anyway, reina was simply too slow, as many keepers would of been, was a great hard low shot. Cazorla will produce assists like they're going outta fashion this season.
