As many of you have already noticed, the official UEFA Champions League Fantasy game is now up and running. With Matchday 1 still 10 days away, the current break in domestic action gives us the perfect excuse to start assessing the fixtures and assembling our 15-man squads before the big kick-off:

Matchday 1 gets underway on Tuesday September 18 and the first night’s action hands City a trip to the Bernabeu to face Jose Mourinho’s Real Madrid, while Arsenal are also on the travels, with Olivier Giroud returning to face his previous employers, Montpellier. Chelsea get their defence up and running the following evening with a home clash against Juventus, while United welcome Galatasaray to Old Trafford.

Once again, we shall be offering coverage across the Matchdays for those in the community who plan on participating. At the moment, we’re also considering the possibility of running with another Champions League game in conjunction but for now, here’s the official Scout League code for the UEFA Fantasy game:

191091-421065

Myself and Andy are currently sorting out a schedule and are planning to roll out an article focussing on the Player Price List over the next few days or so. Keep ‘em peeled for more.

Anyone doing Kagawa to Cazorla for a hit? First possible "knee jerk" for me.

Not for a hit. Man u on an easy game Galatea can easily have 1 assist in 60 mins for about 6 points. And cazorla not only need 10+ points in this case, but after this game he has two super hard games. Stick and make kaga into barfa next week

Well, for what it's worth I think Kagawa might not start against Wigan. However, it seems like a bad time to bring in Cazorla, considering the next games after Southampton are mci, CHE.

He scored none against stoke and sunderland though. I think he is a okay for fpl and not even close to being a must have yet. I had him from the start but I am taking him out for my WC team. Before giving some good points, he dissapointed me with two blanks as well.

He is a good player, no doubt about it. But we are playing fpl for now. He tries to create chances and even create some, but there were hardly any goal scoring chances. His goal last week was a keeper mistake. It's not him, but the players around him that I am concerned about. There are plenty of other cheaper midfield options that can do as well as he can.

It's all to do with him outperforming Kagawa last match and Kagawa being taken off early. No other reason. It's not a bad idea getting him in, Arsenal are hardly going to lie down and die against those 2 teams, they're contenders for the title after all. At least in spirit.

I wasn't playing then, but FISO CTC mentions back then that the rise threshold doubled, tripled, quadruopled etc for the second, third, fourth rise. I wonder if there wasn't a rise cap because this system set a de facto limit to how much you could rise in a GW.

Okay, thanks. I still think a cap of .1 would mean people could keep patient a little longer in their players. Current system, means everyone has the same team. For example, I couldn't risk leaving Hazard another week or he will just become too expensive.

Taken a four point hit to make the following transfers:
    Green OUT for Schwarzer IN
    Hangeland OUT for Gorkss IN
    Noble OUT for Cazorla IN

    Rationale is:
Schwarzer matches well with my other keeper (Al Habsi) being at home for Wigan's toughest fixtures prior to GW12 (GW4, GW8, GW10 and GW12).
If I have Schwarzer I don't really want to double up with Hangeland and need to free money up to get Cazorla. Gorkss is the cheapest defender out there who is a regular first teamer, has a game in hand and offers a threat from set pieces.
Mark Noble has done well so far but, with money in the bank and Cazorla looking good, I would prefer to trade him in at this stage for the Spaniard.

Using my wildcard after GW12. Given that the second wildcard is available between GW21-24 it divides the season neatly into three.

    Sensible or crazy talk?

THe transfers are sensible enough although maybe I would have preferred different keepers and defenders, all a bit close at that price bracket though. I like the season in three parts idea, the only test is you making it to GW12 with an intact wildcard.

Should I get Baines now, or stick with Vert until GW 6 when Spurs’ fixtures decline and Everton’s pick up?

As neutral as you can be with Friedel @ Spurs... the way he's been playing, surely it's currently his position to lose, regardless of who's come in?

If I do play my WC after GW7, it means only 4 games to go. Federic/Reading isn't the worst backup as they could always sneak a couple of CS in their next 4, but would prefer Friedel vs Reading, QPR and VILLA

Yeah Friedel should keep his place until he makes some horrible mistake. But this is AVB we are talking about, you never know he might play his 3rd choice keeper any day. So I would steer clear tbh and besides Lloris is a world class keeper as well.

      I'd steer clear if I didn't own him 🙂

Just hope he can play in the next 4 and then take it from there.

I don't know why people think it's such a touch group. It's not Ajax from 94-95, Dortmund have very little CL experience and it showed last season and City are far from a solid CL outfit. Madrid will win that group comfortably. It's only a tough group for the rest fighting for 2nd place imo.

They are not a good side. I know we aren't the greatest, but they were here for the taking today. Usual stuff from us, shame we have no big nations in the group so we can "raise our game against them" load of rubbish

Right you are. All decent options in my book. It's a limited transfers game, so got to be for the long term. Short term fixtures certainly better for B.
