Sir Alex Ferguson has handed Fantasy managers a major boost this morning by revealing Robin Van Persie will be fit to face Wigan tomorrow afternoon. The Dutchman was subbed off at half-time by Louis Van Gaal in his nation’s 4-1 win over Hungary on Wednesday and with no official club statement, many had feared the worst.

Hardly known for his quick healing powers, Van Persie’s availability is of significant news this weekend, with a substantial majority expected to hand him the captaincy ahead of the Latics clash. With four goals in his first two starts for United, Van Persie has wasted little time in maintaining his outstanding scoring record in the Premier League and with Wayne Rooney still absent due to a thigh injury, Ferguson – like many of us – will be heavily reliant on his summer signing from Arsenal to continuing his scoring spree tomorrow.

Ferguson confirmed at this afternoon’s eagerly-awaited press conference:

On the injury front, everyone’s fit….You always have concerns about players travelling [long distances] in international breaks – we had Chicharito, Valencia and Kagawa. They’ve all done it before, although with Shinji we don’t know exactly how he reacts to travelling back from long distances. Hopefully he’ll be okay.

As the fixture schedule now starts to pick up, Ferguson certainly doesn’t need to take any unnecessary risks. United face Galatasaray at Old Trafford next Wednesday before embarking on a tricky run of league matches which sees them travel to (liv, new, che) and a certain degree of rotation up top can be expected, with the likes of Danny Welbeck and Javier Hernandez set to pick up more game time over the next few weeks. For now, though, Ferguson’s words have soothed us and offered plenty assurance – we can forge ahead with our Fantasy plans for the weekend with confidence renewed.

What do people think of Vorm - Guzan keeper pairing?

    Rotation is perfect.

Very acceptable back seven. Watch out for Gorkss, once the euphoria of a player at £3.9 has worn off, a few people might actually look at his upcoming fixtures.
But OK for the bench if nothing else goes wrong till November.

I’m taking the risk and thinking that RVP will play and do as well as he has.

    Team for the week:

    Foster
    Williams, Cahill, Jenkinson
    Routledge, Carzola(C), Hazard, Michu
    Tevez, RVP, Fletcher

    BENCH: Jaaskelainen, Demel, Snodgrass, Reid

Either that or downgrading cahill and fletcher to bring in ben arfa, rafael

    What do you think?

    Cheers lads.

I also used my wildcard this week Cahill to Rafael is a good way to go imo. I'm going with Fletcher. Sunderland's next 3 games look promising before they play City.

I may also take Cazorla out after the Southampton game and use the funds to strengthen other areas

I'm more inclined to leave Carzola in and then see how everyone else goes and possibly upgrade that 3rd striker at the downgrade of a possible injured/out of form midfielder. I think the gunners have a good fixture + he's the most attacking midfielder in the game. it's just finding someone cost effective for that 3rd striker position cause ben arfa takes up some funds and makes fletcher un-affordable.

Eughhhh, my team is pretty template-like, but I just can't settle on the last 2 defence spots. Too many crappy options/uncertainty around the half-decent ones. Penny for your thoughts:

    Foster - Begovic
    Baines - Cuellar - Demel - ?? - ??
    Hazard - Cazorla - Michu - Snodgrass - Guthrie
    RVP - Tevez - Jelavic

£8.6m for those last 2 spots.

IMO what makes it better is that WBA have more defenders capable of delivering attacking returns than Sunderland do, whilst I expect Migs and Foster to end with similar scores.

When I come to invest in Stoke defence, my primary target is Huth.

Plzen will feel like they are in a group that they really should get out of, despite the presence of Atletico Madrid, they should still be able to overcome Hapoel Tel-Aviv and Academica. They had a good home record in the CL last season if you can overlook the 5-0 thrashing by Barcelona, gaining draws against AC Milan and Bate. They also managed an away win at Bate in that campaign. This season in the Europa League they easily surpassed their first two qualifying opponents 5-1 and 7-0 on aggregate, keeping 3 clean sheets in the process. They struggled against Lokeren but eventually came through on away goals.

        Value in Plzen
Procházka (4.5) – 2 goals 1 assist in 5 league games, centre back. (Some potential attacking returns and also the strong chance of home clean sheets.
        Horváth (5.0) – 11 games – 3 goals and 3 assists, centre midfielder.
Sevinsky (3.5) Played every minute of every game for Plzen so far, and contributed 1 goal, a budget option for a team who could easily get some clean sheets at home in this group.

    All set.

    Szczesny (Cerny)

    Baines Jenkinson Cuellar (Hughes)(Demel)

    Michu Hazzard Cazorla(V) Pienaar (Gutherie)

    RVP(C) Tevez Berba

Clearly i dont have a backup keeper which has already burned me
and jenkinson will have to go in a few weeks but got .7 in the bank to sort that out when the time comes

Would be quality if you could keep the CS coming. I would go for Jussi.
