Why oh why can't a panel judge the best players of any given match, using stats and their own eyes?

That involves paying someone to such a worthless job. Why not just let a computer do it. I find the fact that they are judged on basic stats of a game quite a decent approach. If Defoe hits loads of shots wide and Bale scores one with less as a midfielder then I find it acceptable he deserves the BP's because of the stats. It's to arbitrary if someone just says 'oh he looked fantastic, 3 Bonus points for this lad!'

Ashley Cole. Had him in loads of WC draughts and the games v Reading and Athletico plus pre season suggested defensive problems again for Chelsea. But, 3 cleanies in 4 and a price of 6.5 may be something to consider. My big problem is that he's pricey for someone with so little goal threat.
