Signed in the transfer window, both Steven Fletcher and Dimitar Berbatov have wasted little time in acclimatising at their new clubs, turning the heads of Fantasy managers.

Placed snugly in the mid-price bracket, they both look to offer strong solutions to the third striker slot in our squads with other places reserved for expensive heavy-hitters. In that scenario, many Fantasy managers have been forced to choose from these two players – both take form, decent fixtures and almost identical price tags into the coming months.

In this latest article for our Members, we look beyond the goals and points notched so far, exploring the numbers behind their performances in an attempt to offer a solution to this particular selection dilemma.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Fulhams away form is a concern and realistically your not going to replace one of your big hitters due to the upside they bring to the table.

Sorry got lost on the bottom on last page. Repost:

    Morning guys!
Ok, I really want Vermalen+Maloney, but I am 0.1m short, so I am pondering other options.

    A) Gibbs+Maloney (leaves me with no newcastle coverage)
    B) Pienaar+Taylor (I have Baines already, and leaves me with no Aresenal coverage)
    C) Vermaelen+Kacalinic (I have Berbatov already, but this gives me Verm that I really like for long term)
    D) Other options (in that case what?)

I am on wildcard, so none of those would be for a hit.
    Which one would you chose?

As someone on here said to me - don't get hung up on doubling up too much... I you think one individual is going to score better than another then that's enough. For example, I wouldn't be worried about having Kackaniklic + Berbatov. In fact, if one scores well, the other probably will do too.

So then it comes down to Maloney vs. Kacka. I think the latter will outscore the former there - and do you really need Wigan attacking coverage? No, not really.

      Go Verm + Kacka.

(PS. I've owned both from the start and am v.happy with them!)

Thanks for your long answer! Maybe you are right. I should go with Kaca and see what happens. It isn´t like Maloney will score a zillion points more than him. And if he sucks the next gameweeks, there are always other players that will rise and others that will be injured and make transfers inevitable. It will all work out 🙂

You convinced me to stay as it is! 🙂

I think both of those games will have goals in them. There's a tendency to shy away from big match-ups - and then we lose out when they're high scoring. Captaining RVP at Stamford Bridge last season for example - essentially won some people their mini-leagues.

In short, certainly wouldn't sub him out.

    Mignolet WHU (A)

    Cole A STK (H) / Demel SUN (H) / Lescott ARS (H)

    Pienaar SWA (A) / Hazard STK (H) / Michu EVE (H) / Maloney FUL (H)

    Torres STK (H) / Van Persie LIV (A) / Graham EVE (H)

    Bench: Fed / Fonte / Nzog / Hughes - Bank: 1m

Plan on saving my FT this week, but looking for some transfer advice for GW6 because I want to make my transfer on sat before nzog drops again!

Currently thinking of taking my 2nd 4-pt hit (haven't played wc):

    Cole -> Baines
    Nzog -> Santi
    Torres -> Zamora

Zamora hasn't been spoken about much on here but from GW 6 he has a nice run of fixtures (see below) so think he may be worth a punt

Bench Clyne or Hangeland? Hangeland is a goal threat but is away, and Villa are... Villa.

Play Clyne imo.. i'm in the same situation and playin clyne. Hangeland is'nt a goal threat anymore and fulham are terrible away from home. Clyne is a goal threat and Sunderland looked decent if you do not consider the arsenal game. Pls change your grav 🙂

Sunderland? 🙂 I guess, Hangeland has been getting up there for corners but yes, Fulham are terrible away. Also, if I don't play Clyne at home to Villa I probably never will.

        Grav is here to stay!

hmmm thinking of benching graham and taking a punt playing marveaux. china mag seems to think there's a decent chance of him playing this week especially with cisse apparently sick...

and now i'm considering taking the ballsy captaincy choice of baines!

    what do you guys think?

Suppose with a few difficult fixtures this week, its one of the better weeks for a captain punt.

I have benched Graham for Kaca this week. Think Graham is next for the drop tbh.

I can't see baines as a risk at all.
Swans will be all over the place with problems they have. Baines & Jags are on top form and linking brilliantly.
Add set pieces and basically controlling All Evertons plays......you will be pleased i'm sure.

@Stilicho Fine thanks. Sorry for belated answer to your courteous greeting, was out shopping champagne for a stag party tomorrow. More importantly though, I got Berb even though everybody said "Go Lambert". I just wish I could tell everyone "I told you so" after just a little longer.

Lambert. Think of it in terms of who is most vaiuable to the team. Long can be rotated and among West Brom's ranks there are plenty of goals. With Southampton Lambert is the key man.

    Would you WC this lot?

    Foster | Fed
    Zab | Rangel | Demel | Gorkss | Baines
    Kags | Michu | Hazard | Barfa | Yaya
    Tevez | Graham | Fletch

Have already taken a 8 point hit (which the wc would wipe out)

Zabs/Kags/Tevez/Graham aren't nailed on this week and Fed is injured.

Id WC tbh mate. It's the midfield and strikers that worry me. Too many high value mids to bench and Graham looks like a sinking ship at the moment.

Cheers Brian. Would probably bench either Graham or Fletch over a middy - but all depends on the usual factors. Am favouring a balanced team at the mo rather than heavy hitters and bench fodder - my WC would continue that trend.

Have a good team this week (without WC) - but only if the non-nailed on players play...

In that case, if your happy with your big hitters id go with Limpars advice and sort it out over the longterm.

90% agree with that Limpar - not terminal. Hopefully... It's the 10% that makes me wanna press the button. I could easily end up with only 10 players this week.

Yep, i'm captaining Benny Boy - probably an epic fail but he looks best (out of my team) on paper don't he.

Nein. Unless you really got transfers to burn or intend to play a WC soon, Cazorla is a very good long term pick and not worth using a transfer on.
