Laurent Koscielny steps in for the flu-stricken Thomas Vermaelen to extend Arsenal’s unbeaten run at City, while a tactical switch at half-time earns Andre Villas-Boas his first home win at the Lane. Here’s Part Two of the Stock Check:

On the Up

Laurent Koscielny
Handed a chance in the back-four with Thomas Vermaelen sidelined by flu, the Frenchman returned Arsene Wenger’s faith with a late equaliser earning his side a deserved draw at City. With Vermaelen expected to return to the first XI next weekend, though, Koscielny looks set to vie with Per Mertesacker for the other central defensive berth after an impressive showing.

Santi Cazorla
The playmaker was in the points once again this afternoon, supplying the assist for Koscielny’s equaliser. After starting the season with a couple of blanks, Cazorla is starting to pick up in consistency and has now produced attacking returns in each of his last three games.

Gareth Bale
Initially, it didn’t look good for his Fantasy owners. With Kyle Naughton and Benoit Assou-Ekotto ruled out, the Welshman started at left-back against QPR but was moved to his familiar left wing berth after the break as the hosts trailed 1-0. The switch turned the game in Spurs’ favour – the home side were far more threatening and with Bale providing the assist for Jermain Defoe’s winner, it’s unlikely Andre Villas-Boas will be in a hurry to repeat such an experiment again.

Steven Caulker
Climbing off the bench for his first league minutes this season, he provided the assist for his side’s own goal equaliser. It wasn’t so much the attacking returns that has boosted his appeal, though – the tactical switch that saw Jan Vertonghen move to left-back may convince Villas-Boas to continue with the back-four that ended the game if Kyle Naughton fails to recover in time for next weekend.

Bobby Zamora
While plenty of other names have been mulled over for the third striker slot, the QPR man seems to have slipped under the Fantasy radar of late. Today’s goal at Spurs was his third in four appearances, though, and with (WHM, EVE, RDG) in the next five, he could be a decent differential.

Going Down

The City Defence
Joleon Lescott may have handed his owners plenty points with the opener against the Gunners but City once again disappointed at the back. The 1-1 draw means Roberto Mancini’s side have yet to register a clean sheet this season – the sales looks set to continue, with several mid-price options proving strong value right now.

City Forward Rotation
Mancini freshened up his front two from last week, with the return of Sergio Aguero seeing Carlos Tevez drop to the bench for the first time this season. With Edin Dzeko replacing Mario Balotelli, the City forward line looks set to frustrate plenty Fantasy managers as Mancini has one eye on the Champions League. Already, some are considering selling on Tevez after today’s teamsheet but, having been dropped for today’s match, you’d expect him to return to the first XI for the trip to Fulham.

Gylfi Sigurdsson
The Icelandic international was the man sacrificed in Villas-Boas’ half-time switch in a continuation of his dire start to the Fantasy season. Sigurdsson may have started four matches but the most he’s managed is 71 minutes – Clint Dempsey moved into the role in “the hole” after the break and could well be called upon from the start next week at United, with a move to the bench for Sigurdsson looking a real possibility.

Going three up (Baines, Fellani & Pienaar) for Everton the next few weeks isn't too crazy, is it?

Need to get Baines in and was planning on shipping out Lescott (who I brilliantly left on the bench this week!)

Whoever I turf out I'll need a double swoop to get Leighton, so I'm going to dispatch with Hazard too, but am caught in several minds about midfield replacement:

    a) Felliani (would mean trebling up on Everton with Peanuts and Baines)
    b) Nolan (Looks to be the main goal threat and fixtures aren't bad, Arsenal aside)
    c) Cazorla (I have no Arsenal cover and he seems to be the main bp magnet, but their scoring record is poor)
    d) HBA (I have no Newcastle cover yet)
    e) Yaya (I have Tevez and maybe Lescott still)
    f) Gervinho (seems to be the main striker for Arsenal, although not too good at it today!)
    g) Bale (no Spurs cover although I don't really fancy their fixtures or them right now)
    h) someone else?

Rest of midfield is: Dyer / Pienaar / Noble / Duff

Awful mid imo, but between those I'd go for either Bale or Gervinho (But if you don't have Lambert consider Ramirez).

        Thanks for advice.
Yeah I know the midfield looks terrible, but Noble aside it's been doing the business so far.

        Full (current) team is:
        Vorm / Jaskelainen
        Cole / Lescott / Ridgewell / Rangel / Shawcross
        Pienaar / Hazard / Noble / Dyer / Duff
        RVP / Tevez / Berbatov

Gervinho could be a bold differential but I'm not sure that vs Chelsea is the match to commit. Same with Bale away to Utd.

Hey Jafooli, I'm well aware of the fixtures, I'm a bluenose myself of some 28 years! (As such I obviously am dubious about the good form continuing ;-))
I was thinking A initially I must admit, but it does risk making my team somewhat shallow (3 Everton, 3 Swansea, 2 Hammers.
I'm considering wc'ing this week, although I'm leading most of my mini leagues (Scout ones aside of course) and looking at 50 pts this week after 4pt hit, so don't want to kneejerk too hard.

Makes sense. Toffee myself and loving it this year.......really think they will keep it up, baring further injury ( which has often been the problem before - not enough depth).

What position is Liverpool? And how many points? Can quite see that low on the table....

I like Nolan but wouldn't have him alongside Noble. Cazorla is probably the best bet long term but HBA/Bale are worth considering. Personally I wouldn't treble on Everton even in their current form, limits your other cover too much

Thanks for that. I agree RE: doubling up on Noble/Nolan, to be honest Noble is very much an initial team legacy player who'll be out if I wc or have a spare transfer, he's mainly on the bench.
I've been a big Bale fan before, but I don't really like Spurs this year and Utd and Chelsea in the next 3 don't make me like them more!
HBA is the most promising shout so far, so I've narrowed it down to:
        a) HBA
        b) Felliani
        c) Nolan

Hindsight is a wonderful thing. Bringing in Hazard made sense at the time and in fairness he was unlucky not to get reurns against QPR. Given his fxtures I wouldnt have removed Bale if i'd had him but again, hindsight is great.

It's funny though to see how people have learned nothing from it in that Hazard -> Fellaini appears to be everyone's new favourite transfer.

Currently have Baines & Pienaar with 2 FTs this week - really thinking of Michu to Fellaini to triple up on Everton. Good form and fixtures. Michu was only in there to block his points as all rivals have him but I think I am ok to take the risk.

Another question - I would ideally like some City & Liverpool cover for next few weeks. Currently only have Tevez. What do you guys reckon? Silva really not looking good. Was thinking of Maloney to Sterling. Or maybe even Hazard to Gerrard this week for a 3 week punt.

Considering the depth of Everton's squad I'd say...yes both will play. Oviedo will come in for one or the other though at some point.

So does Ruddy not get points for the missed penalty today? I know Cisse's shot was way off, but I thought that in the past the keeper got the points whether the penalty taker was on target or not.

NO points, he actually has to save it, (which I think is kinda unfair as the taker gets minus points either way + keepers pysce them out)

I got Ramirez before this weekend. I think if he continues to play so far forward he could score really well.

Bale ➡ Cazorla? Tottenham have United away and tricky fixtures ahead of them in general. 5 of the next 9 are against top tier teams (United, Chelsea, CIty, Arsenal and Liverpool) while Santi's look tasty after next week.

I'm happy to have both, Bale against Aston Villa the week after next has potential, but yeah I would rather have Cazorla.

      Unlikely, Sporting.

Pienaar was on 10 PPI before. Fellaini is on 17 PPI.

Should get redone in tonights lot. But he really shouldnt get baps.

Hoping Foster gets upgraded as Brunt loses baps. Although apparently he is losing a save point.

Ciaran Clark is quickly becoming the most frustrating player I have ever owned. His seven points stayed on my bench last week and his minus two come in this week. Oh, and I sold Lescott for him.
