Arsenal’s battling performance at the Etithad and a dramatic second-half turnaround at the Lane bring Gameweek 5 to a close. Our members can now let the dust settle on their Fantasy scores before gorging on all the stats from all the weekend’s matches, or just read on for the numbers that piqued our interest…

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

          It is, of course, ironic.

It means that a small event of GREAT tragedy has occurred - and that would, of course, move Jesus, who can see all, to tears ... 🙂

but jesus was surely the epitomy of compassion and empathy? So I see no reason to assume it would require an execptionally tragic event to move him to tears.

George Graham wept, now there would be something.

Any other Saints fans here? Anyone at the match and didn’t think Ramirez was best player on the pitch? Lambo was great, but amazed when MOTD highlighted him and not Gaston. Two fantastic balls he played to put us 1-on-1, weren’t even shown.en shown, as one wrightly and one wrongly were given offside.

Fantasy rewards don’t always reflect real-life footy, but right now I don’t care, he was class apart. Our front four all played out of thier skins (Lambo / Lalla / Puncheon / Gaston) in second half, but wow! Not usually this gushy, but just confused by MOTD highlights and player focus, anyone at the game could see Ramirez was a class apart.

Real problem though, haven’t got Fellani yet either. So Fellani, or Ramirez?

I don't agree with with retirement from international football. full stop. easy and obvious to say as I'm not an international footballer myself. I can can see how in practice it could be for the best, but never how in principle. If he's not up to it just don't pick him.

Didn't the French once ban any players who retired from playing in thier league?

A)Dyer and Kagawa to Fellaini and Pienaar + 0.6
B)Dyer and Kagawa to Michu and Pienaar + 0.2
C)Graham and Kagawa to Fletcher and Fellaini + 0.4
D)Graham and Kagawa to Fletcher and Pienaar + 0.8

Lost on bottom of page, interesting words from Pardew

Alan Pardew admitted afterwards that he wanted one of his two regular penalty takers, Demba Ba and Hatem Ben Arfa, to take the penalty. That may have happened had the Newcastle manager not been serving the final game of a two-match touchline ban for pushing referee’s assistant Peter Krikup during his side’s victory over Tottenham last month.

As a result, when Newcastle won a penalty in first-half added time, neither Ba or Ben Arfa took the kick. It was a fascinating moment.

Ba had bemoaned the fact Ben Arfa had taken the ball, in a moment of confidence during that Spurs game, to score from 12 yards. Thus this time, when Steve Morison upended Mike Williamson, Ba went looking for the ball, only to find the stand-in captain Jonas Gutierrez with it. He gave it to Ben Arfa and in turn, after deliberation, he tossed it to Cissé. The forward then blasted the penalty over John Ruddy’s crossbar and his confidence seemed to go with it.

“I like my penalty takers to take it, that would be a start,” said Pardew. “I could understand the group giving it to Papiss. It talks about the spirit in the group that they wanted him to score but it wasn’t what I wanted.

“I understand why they did that. They want Papiss to score. Players look after players. They genuinely wanted him to score the goal. The fact he missed it was a blow to the group. We felt it in the dressing room at half-time. That was why it was important to ignore it.

          This...

He was a couple of bad touches away from another brace. I think they would have faired better without Ramsey on the pitch; as he was getting in the way and didn't really play his position. Also, beating Clichy around the outside is impressive in my book and I would be very afraid if I was RDM and putting Ivanovic's name on the teamsheet for RB. I would prefer both, if you have Newcastle and Everton cover I would say go for it.

          Podolski looked a bit gassed.

Ramsey was a big part of how a draw was earned. As well as create the best chance of the game he ran his nuts off tracking Sinclair and was Arsenal's seconded highest distributor with 82 passes at 89% success - 2nd only to Arteta.

Agree that Gervinho was only a couple of bad touches away from another brace though. He's clearly going to keep creating chances for himself and others. His finish last week was nice, so just an off day shooting wise for. Not that he 'can't shoot'.

Gervinho was terrible in my opinion. He's good at getting past people, but his finishing is so woeful. Sure he scored 2 last week, but one was a tap in from literally 1m. This week he was probably the worst player on the pitch, missing 2 great chances to put Arsenal ahead (missing is a bit of an understatement actually)

I think this year taking hits has paid off at a much higher rate than the last two years. Plus you gain value very quickly which is good for January's WC. Plus, almost everyday, 3x as many players are losing a tenth as gaining. Maybe it's the internet use and herd mentality. Larger herds.

Fellanni is an example where hits have paid off, there must be 10 players like that. It just seems unusual this year, last two years, you just grinned and bore it on rarely taking a hit.

Which option would you pick. Have 1 FT
    A) Zabaleta + graham --->baines + zamora (have exact money to do it now)
    B) Ivanovic + graham --->baines + berba/fletcher (have exact money to do it now)
    C) graham ---> berba/fletcher

    Cheers

Seriously considering getting in Gervinho this week.
A midfielder playing as a striker almost guarantees points. Will he stay there though, or will Giroud get another chance? And if he does will Gervinho be guaranteed a spot on the wing where Arsenal have plenty of options?
    What do you guys think?

Gervinho--- I saw two plays today where he demonstrated a lack of basic goal scoring skill. He hustles very well, but seems to spaz in the final seconds of an opportunity. IMO

I know he missed a lot of chances, but I'm wondering if he'll be playing as a striker long-term (until January at least)

His two goal week was the exception, Nolan is more consistent. IMO, plus there are other better mids in that category--HBA, Pienaar, even Walters is steady, too.

Best Defender+Striker Combination for 13.6? (Already have Tevez, Demel and Baines). Looking to replace A. Cole and Graham.

Thinking something along the lines of: Berbatov/Fletcher/Lambert + Ridgewell/Gibbs/Rafael/McAuley

Lol, erbody is coming up with the same names eventually:

Defenders: Ivanovic, Baines, Cole, Cuellar, Demel, Rafael
Midfielders: Fellaini, Pienaar, Santi Carzola, Bale, Michu, Hazard, Nolan, Toure, Ben Arfa
Strikers: Fletcher, Berbatov, Tevez, van Persie, Ba, Lambert

I shall not commit to this! Im going with totally different players! Hoorah!

I wouldn't Gerarrd is playing too deep for his cost, if he was playing behind Suarez then maybe but not at the moment.

A Liverpool player looks a bit more appealing now, given their fixtures, but don't think I'd spend more than 4.6 on any of them.

Problem is that hazard has NOR at home after the arsenal game - potential captain material.
I'm looking weirdly to bring glen Johnson because I Gerard plays a bit too deep.

      I really would not panic!!!

Tevez, Toure and Hazard will not normally have such low point scores.

I would be happy with that team.
