Arsenal’s battling performance at the Etithad and a dramatic second-half turnaround at the Lane bring Gameweek 5 to a close. Our members can now let the dust settle on their Fantasy scores before gorging on all the stats from all the weekend’s matches, or just read on for the numbers that piqued our interest…

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

    My WC Team:
    Cesar - Jaaskelainen
    Baines - Rafael - Gibbs - Demel - Clyne
    Silva - Michu - Hazard - Fellaini - Sterling
    Berbatov - Lambert - RVP

Even though my initial squad was great for the first 4 weeks. it didn't look too promising moving forward. and with necessary issues to deal with, hence the W.C. FPL Studs, Help me make this Team better than it is 🙂

You're team was fine. All that needed to be done was Ade->Ba.

Kind of a sideways WC imo, considering your great start to the season..

Mayby you are right. But the issues with my team were the following:
        * weak defence: Hughes - Fulham dont do well away, Zab - minuets have been reduced due to maicon, gunter - reading too weak
        * Forwards: Ade - Not Starting And not fit, Tevez - Minutes in question with all city forwards now available and fit

Solid team, but I'd prefer Cazorla or Bale to Silva (and maybe also to Hazard).

Have a look at the Jassk / Begovic rotation

Yeah i agree, no way i would wildcarded either. But now that you have, im still not sold on Silva. Cesar could be a good shout, hes a great keeper. Expensive backline though

This season is great. Wildcards are showing good variety!

Personally I wouldn't bother with michu or Silva but like your team.

Players I prefer to michu... Ben arfa or pienaar
Players I prefer to Silva... cazorla, maybe bale

Loving the Lambert sterling combination. They cover each other very well in terms of fixtures but obviously Lambert to start most

    Morning!

What's the consensus, are people still going with two big hitters in midfield?
I tought that question yesterday until my brains melt down....and then decided to keep going with two big hitters.

    Decision was between these
    1. keep two big hitters in midfield or
    2. ivanovic + baines in defence + take a hit again this week to get baines in

Have to say I'm not happy to be without Ivanovic now, expecting a brace for him in gw7 🙁

Current thinking could be something like
    gw7: kagawa => cazorla
after that deciding what to do with hazard

    or

    gw7: kagawa => bale
    gw8: hazard => cazorla

Have to say that this fantasy world changes quickly, two weeks ago I had to make decision which one to get rid kags or bale to get hazard in before another 0.3 prise rise. Bit annoying to face a fact that I, among many others, decided to ditch bale...

hmmm, I only had that one question to make, how did I go for this long jada jada post...

The way I think is that as long as I'm not leaving more than 3 mil in the bank, I can make any downgrade I want and okay the transfers week by week.

Sticking to a strict financial template is hard to maintain

Im thinking the ship has past on that one Pratik.. Baines and Pienaar should be plenty of Everton cover.

He's such a beast, but I think we'll have to pass?(What's your opinion on this)

Only one that tempts me is Santi in for Bale or Haz, but both have good fixtures next week.

Do you suppose we save the FT and reassess next week? (With Tevez, Ba, Berba, etc.)

Felliani is excellent captain material this week, if I could get him in I would give him the armband. Getting rid of Gallas for a cheap defender to upgrade Dyer->Felliani is what I'm thinking.

Dyer's price will fall by tomorrow too.

Very true about Dyer, plus I'm not sure he'll be back in the starting lineup in coming weeks..

If I am giving him the armband, then it certainly makes it worth it. I don't intend to make a transfer next week though, and really wanna save 2 for the international break. I believe Dyer is too much of a rotation suspect now, so even though he has tempting fixtures in gw7 and 8, he is not play both the games.

Due to 6 players playing less than 45 mins plus 3 spurs going to old trafford, I’ve pressed the button.

How about this for wc team?

    Begovic foster

    Baines rafael mcauley demel clyne

    Pienaar hazard fellaini benarfa sterling

    Lambert vanP Suare Notes…

Sterling has great fixtures for Lambert’s bad ones Defence may be expensive but I don’t fancy many big guns up front

ty for advice. I like tripling up though and admit I'm a bit of a fixtures freak. Everton have sweet fixtures and no rotation risks plus good value and form so I think I will keep them.

Had bale, lennon and defoe for the last 4 or 5 games and worked OK (Could have been better admittedly! But those differentials kept my head above the water on bad GWs for most)

why is double defence not clever? Tosey (regular on here in the past) had two triples in defence and finished in the top 1k I think. More variance I'm with you on that

I just think spreading the risk is way smarter. Whenever your team has a bad day or a poor fixture, youre basically screwed. Variance might account for him finishing top 1k too, you know 😉

@RedForLife in regards to Che v Ars

Being a gooners fan and knowing the history between the clubs, this one's almost always a high scoring affair. it's not that I doubt Arsenal's back line, I just think it will be a wide open game with both teams counter attacking very often.

The likes of Hazard, Gervinho, Ox(if he features) and Oscar may well benefit from this.

    Morning folks!

I watched the Chelsea game at the weekend and it was the first time I really got to see Hazard play. He looked ok but with Mata back in the side he suddenly seemed to drop in appeal. He took less set-pieces and was subbed early, presumably due to a combination of him being ineffective and having played a lot over the last couple of weeks.

A look at his stats isn't comforting either - 1 shot (off target) and 2 chances created is not enough for a £10m+ player at home. Granted, Stoke were good, but he doesn't have the easiest of fixtures coming up. He would seem to be reliant on spot-kicks for goal threat but even then I think him taking them is reliant on other penalty takers being off the field. He also has the added threat of rotation with the CL in full swing and all those other attacking mids.

Is this the time to start making plans to shift? Perhaps it would be wiser to wait until after the Norwich game but I really fancy Bale as a direct replacement (incidentally, I did Bale > Hazard in my WC 2 weeks ago against my better judgement in order to make some cash and in case Hazard really was that good!). It's really difficult to decide. I'm on my WC and am thinking Haz>Cazorla

My reasoning being, Chelsea's next 4 look nasty, Hazard is not showing enough goalscoring threat, Oscar had 5 shots to Hazard's one for instance. Cazorla always has shots, he takes corners, free kicks too. Arsenal play a free flowing style and I can see more goals in that Arsenal side than Chelsea, mainly because Chelsea are inherently defensive despite having all these attacking options, would you agree? Chelsea like to get that goal early and boss the game or soak up the pressure. RDM seems to work like this.

Hazard is an unselfish player in a way, Cazorla is unselfish too but has that extra selfishness that might see him score more goals perhaps. The only thing is Hazard's stats from last year are phenomenal in Ligue 1. Whereas Cazorla has been consistent but his stats aren't mindblowing. But Caz is basically the focal point of Arsenal's attack now, which he may not have been for his previous clubs.

      So Haz>Caz? worth it?

Regarding Hazard's Ligue 1 stats - are you talking about goals? I heard a lot were penalties. Granted, if he wins them all then takes them then fair enough! However, I don't see this being enough to justify owning a £10m+ player unless he carries significant goal threat (from open play).

I like Cazorla a lot and have him. I would personally prefer to have him over Hazard for the reasons you stated. You make a good point about RDM's gameplan and I can see a lot of low scoring wins for Chelsea this year.

The question is whether you like Bale more than Hazard. Bale comes out on top (just) in the comparison tool and I reckon Spurs will score more goals than Chelsea.

From memory Hazard only scored 9 from open play and 10 from penalties (stats are something like that anyway).

This is why I didn't rate highly, but same as Tinkerman brought him in "in case my thoughts were wrong"

Yeah but have you been watching him play? He's gone close to scoring plenty of times this season it's not as if he is doing nothing bar penalties/penalty assists. He's a good player and will come good. No way would I ditch before Norwich (H) after this week.

Agree Tevez might have to go but I won't sell RVP just yet. Who are you targeting as replacements? RVP > Rooney doesn't seem like a great move unless it allows you to make vast improvements with the extra cash. I'm also not sure Aguero is worth the extra over Tevez if you can't captain him due to Mancini's rotation!

I am waiting for gw7, when Chelsea play Norwich, and there is an international break right after that....Will get in Caz then depending upon things.

I currently have both Caz and Bale in my team, and one will certainly make way for Caz after gw7.

    Repost...

In a dilemma, I want to get Baines bt already have Howard and pienaar..
I can get Baines in since I. Have 2ft bt hesitant doubling up. The one option is to bring in Baines and get rid of Howard but not sure who. Howard is the only keeper upto 5.5 who is fixture and rotation proof. I already hav mcauly so don’t want foster. Friedel might loose his place so yeah, not sure Abt the Baines decision….thoughts??
My second keeper is Davies from saints who didn't start which is another headache...

if your second keeper is davies, definitely don't sell howard. You'd be better off replacing davies with a player who covers everton's bad fixtures and then get baines in too.

IMO there is nothing wrong with doubling up - some weeks you get double, some weeks you get nothing. 2+0 = 1+1 so no difference in the long run

I.e. if you have two defenders from different teams it is still possible they both concede, both get CS or 1 of each - so it makes little difference over a season - Not sure if I'm explaining that well!

I'd stick with Bale & Hazard tbh, far too many people kneejerking Hazard out, he's still absolutly class and will still be explosive like he's been already this season. However, if you're wanting to make way for Cazorla, then Hazard would most probably be the one that I'd ship out, due to him being at a slight risk of rotation. Sorry if that sounds completely contradictory lol.

Double West Ham and double Stoke isn't a great idea IMO. Spread the risk! Newcastle/Sunderland rotate well (await Cuellar and Newcastle back line injury updates and consider getting players from those teams to rotate. If you didn't have A Cole before. now isn't the time to get him. Norwich home is the only fixture coming up where I forsee a cleanie and he won't get attacking returns very often this season IMO.

I like the midfield and attack a lot although Gerrard could be a risky pick. Might be a week too early to target Aguero but he's a solid long-term pick.

If Brunt has the lost the assist, his PPI will go down massively - meaning no bonus for him. So, Foster will keep his boner I reckon. Best case scenario, he might even get 2 because of Brunt dropping out.

Demi mentioned the same earlier....so it could basically be anything from 0-2 bonus....This is what they are querying about, and we are writing about it at length here 🙂

Yup. Lukaku 3 is fixed. Foster, Long, Brunt could get anything from 0-2.

I think we are moving away from that ultimate Mantra that helped us out last year:

    form>>>>>>>>>fixtures( exception:Hazard)

I'm confused, what is the mantra now and what was it last year?

sorry didn't put into proper sentences and I have confused myself as well with what I said..

        General FPL Mantra:
        Form>>>Fixtures

        for Hazard:
        Fixture>>>Form

i think use fixtures to make your transfers (because you need to think long term and fixs are more stable) but use form on a week by week basis to pick your starting 11 and capt

Puzzling fact: 4 out of 5 times this season a fullback has been the GW's highest scorer.

not surprising, the Defenders most likely to get Goals and BAPS( only problem: there is no consistency out there)

goal + clean sheet points return:

      attacker: 4
      midfielder: 6
      defender: 10

      +BPs

and that is why when a defender scores and wins, he is on fire!

Morning , well pleased with a score of 62, but have a major dilemma
    A- Lescott > Baines
    B- Michu > Santi
    C- Pog > Fletch/lambert
    Any thoughts please ?
