Luis Suarez isn’t everyone’s favourite player. Impromptu goalkeeping, the Patrice Evra incident and a baffling vendetta against woodwork comprise the newsworthy misadventures of a man equally distinguished by his managers’ favour and the public contempt. But whilst his unequivocal admirers might be restricted to the Kop and the carpentry trade, Fantasy managers can ill afford to be too picky with their heroes in a game that measures virtue purely in terms of points.

A stuttering start to the season can be excused in a team unsettled by a wearying saga of tactical and managerial revolutions on Merseyside, and if the optimism that attended Brendan Rodgers’ arrival has been somewhat subdued by Liverpool’s unflattering league position, strong performances against Sunderland and United in recent weeks suggest that the tide is turning.

In terms of shots on target and chances created over the last two weeks Liverpool are in the Champions League spots, and whilst new acquisition Joe Allen and youth team graduate Raheem Sterling have gelled seamlessly in Rogers’ favoured 4-3-3, the comparatively innocuous exploits of Fabio Borini only serve to cement Suarez’s role as the indispensable spearhead of the Liverpool attack.

Whilst Steven Fletcher, Dimitar Berbatov and Ricky Lambert have hogged the headlines and cast an understandable shade over Suarez’s recent performances, that darkness may provide a propitious advantage to those Fantasy managers armed with the sober and impartial light of OPTA stats. Indeed, Suarez has eclipsed his acclaimed competitors in several key areas, and whilst he shows no inclination to forfeit his post-hitting pre-eminence, his threat stats augur an imminent improvement of his already-respectable tally of two goals in five games.

Norwich’s combative home form could present a potential banana skin to Liverpool’s attacking aspirations next weekend, but their work-in-progress defence remains susceptible to breach and Suarez’s guile and energy will furnish a stern test – last season’s Carrow Road hat-trick, capped by a memorable 45-yard effort, stands testament to the Uruguayan’s capabilities. Back-to-back home games against a winless Stoke and an incontinent Reading then serve to complete a tempting trio of ties that should provide Rodgers’ resurgent Reds ample opportunity to jump start their campaign.

With the threat of rest and rotation now haunting the footsteps of the hitherto hegemonic Carlos Tevez and Robin Van Persie, Suarez’s comparative security becomes a conspicuous asset and, priced at 9.4 in the Fantasy Premier League and 9.6 in the Sky Sports game, canny investors may be set to reap rewards from Luis’ forthcoming weekends.

I am considering this. All but a few in my main mini-league have Tevez and I support L'pool (not that that should be a consideration). Suarez has been such a disappointment for ages but the signs are there that he'll improve.

Liverpool always over perform against Man Utd at Anfield. they have a great record there. This was their first league defeat there for four years. I think they are improving, but still suffer from having a striker who can't score, no depth and a shaky defence.

    Morning folks

I have 1 FT and £3.3 in the bank.

    What to do?
Was thinking of replacing Tevez? If so, to Berba??

    Foster

    Baines, Davies, Demel,

    Fellaini, Cazorla, Michu, Yaya Toure,

    Tevez, RVP, Fletcher

    Subs: Begovic, Guthrie, Cuellar, Gorkks

    Thank you

        =====

I guess this is the question for today:

Tevez -> Ba for a hit?

        A. Yes
        B. No

I know I have other issues; namely Fed and Fabio, but they can definitely wait.

        Fabio – Baines – Hangeland – Rangel – Cuellar

well i calmed down, was all ready to get fellaini in for another 4 points (taking me to 8 for the week).
am thinking now pienaar might be better long term as im unlikely, barring injury, to want to transfer him out for the next 6-8 games, so i want as much spare cash as poss to upgrade others........i know its only 0.5 saving at the mo, but it all counts

        is this ridiculous?

Not at all ridiculous, it might be annoying if Fellaini starts banging them every week but Pienaar I can see being possibly more consistent with returns and a valuable asset. If I could only have one right now I would go Pienaar for value purposes and as you said it gives you the ability to tinker with your team having that little bit extra in the bank.

Fletcher, Ba, Berba and Lambert are all in better form and significantly cheaper. There is also Jelavic.

Like i said, its all because of Tevez out. Suarez for the fixtures(form hasn't been too poor), rest for the form.

Yeah I understand the Tevez out move, just don't get how Suarez can be a popular replacement where there are do many other options that actually have a record of scoring on a regular basis.

Scored 2 already this season vs tougher opposition and 3 easy fixtures. Not too bad mate. And Liverpool have actually played decent football mind you.

The lure of three blue-ish ticker fixtures in a row can be strong. It makes people do crazy things. Then again, I wouldn't be too unhappy having Suarez on my team for 3 weeks, you can see him getting at least a goal there.

Had a pretty bad week last week... 3 players on 1 point each with a 16 point goldmine in Clyne and Cazorla on the bench!!

        But hey, thats FF.

Is it worth cashing in on Jussi now if I get Demel in on my WC? I think Jussi has had his day and it's worth cashing out. Holding onto Demel means you have a cheaper alternative who will probably rise further. I can see people slowly losing interest in Jussi as West Hams fixtures get tough...right decision? (Will be getting Foster btw)
