Spurs win at Old Trafford for the first time since 1989 as Andre Villas-Boas’ side triumph in the game of the season so far. Gareth Bale is the main protagonist for the Londoners, as United’s defensive frailties are exposed yet again:

Going Up

Gareth Bale
In a Gameweek where many of the popular midfield picks failed to produce the goods, the Welshman continued his return to form with a goal and pair of assists at Old Trafford. With a home clash against Villa up next, Bale can expect to pick up plenty of interest over the next few days.

Jan Vertonghen
Having found his eye for goal in the midweek Capital One Cup win at Carlisle, Vertonghen notched his first league goal of the campaign as Andre Villas-Boas’ side won for the third Gameweek in a row. With (AVL, sot, WIG) amongst his next four fixtures, the potential for point looks good for the Belgian at both ends of the pitch.

Clint Dempsey
Picked ahead of Gylfi Sigurdsson for the role in “the hole”, the US international vindicated his manager’s decision with his first goal of the season. Dempsey – who has a mere 2% ownership in FPL – could be a real differential pick over the next few games, with a starting berth in the Spurs XI now seemingly assured.

Wayne Rooney
Sent on for Ryan Giggs after the break, Rooney was forced to take up a wider position, with Shinji Kagawa keeping the role behind Robin Van Persie. He made an immediate impact, setting up Nani for United’s first, and with a free-kick hitting the woodwork, he’s offering a real alternative to the Dutchman up top as we look to freshen up our Fantasy squads.

Going Down

United Defence
Once again, the Red Devils failed to keep out their opponents at the back. Sir Alex Ferguson’s side have conceded in all but one of their six fixtures so far – with trips to Newcastle and Chelsea in the next four, in addition to a home clash against Arsenal, sales of their defenders look likely to pick up.

Robin Van Persie
Normally, an assist isn’t too bad for a day’s work. The Dutchman has still managed to produce attacking returns in all of his starts this term but with the likes of Nikica Jelavic, Luis Suarez and Demba Ba all racking up the goals earlier today, and with Rooney now back for United, many may be tempted to look for alternatives to the 13.5 priced Dutchman.

My biggest disappointment this week has been Tevez. I spent the whole week telling people to hold him cos he would start - sure enough he did, but did squat

So, the merits of a WC this time next week, discuss.

It is quite tempting tbh, Arsenal's fixtures take a turn, I can sort my defence out, get rid of Noble, Hazard, Hangeland, Fed, Davies, maybe even Clyne. With it being internationals, I have 2 weeks to play the price rises.

On the downside, that's the wc gone.

RvP to Aguero this week, and Hazard to Bale next week? Too much kneejerk?

    Foster federici
    Baines Ivanovic Demel Cuellar Clyne
    Hazard Kagawa Toure Michu Guthrie
    Torres Tevez Fletcher

have 1 Ft and 0.6 in the bank.

Spurs and Bale look to be on fire. would you do
    a)Kagawa + tevez —-> bale + 9.2 st(jelly/ba)
    b)kagawa + toure —–> bale + 7.9 mid(barfa)
    c) anything else

don't jerk that knee... most games pienaar and baines will produce the goods.. I guess you could triple up, but you'll need a decent exit strategy if you do!

Suarez... well... Buck tooth has gone and done it... Is he worth getting? I'm not sure who I would take out. remember that statistically players don't normally get a goal in a game following a hat trick.

No, Like I said earlier in the season, Bale is one of the most frustrating players you can have. This week away at United he pulls in 16 - next week home to villa he will maybee get an assist. It has always been his problem for me. Unless you plan on having him as a season keeper and playing every game, you shouldnt have him in your team. For the most part, he scores well in big games - meaning you prob will not captain him during games where he scores higher. At that price, I want someone who beats up on the little guys, not just someone who shows up against top clubs.

I think that's because in the 2nd half Spurs reverted to how a team typically plays away to Man Utd, surrendering all possession and parking the bus. Teams have shown how effective it is to attack as a form of defence this year against Man Utd.
