Spurs win at Old Trafford for the first time since 1989 as Andre Villas-Boas’ side triumph in the game of the season so far. Gareth Bale is the main protagonist for the Londoners, as United’s defensive frailties are exposed yet again:

Going Up

Gareth Bale
In a Gameweek where many of the popular midfield picks failed to produce the goods, the Welshman continued his return to form with a goal and pair of assists at Old Trafford. With a home clash against Villa up next, Bale can expect to pick up plenty of interest over the next few days.

Jan Vertonghen
Having found his eye for goal in the midweek Capital One Cup win at Carlisle, Vertonghen notched his first league goal of the campaign as Andre Villas-Boas’ side won for the third Gameweek in a row. With (AVL, sot, WIG) amongst his next four fixtures, the potential for point looks good for the Belgian at both ends of the pitch.

Clint Dempsey
Picked ahead of Gylfi Sigurdsson for the role in “the hole”, the US international vindicated his manager’s decision with his first goal of the season. Dempsey – who has a mere 2% ownership in FPL – could be a real differential pick over the next few games, with a starting berth in the Spurs XI now seemingly assured.

Wayne Rooney
Sent on for Ryan Giggs after the break, Rooney was forced to take up a wider position, with Shinji Kagawa keeping the role behind Robin Van Persie. He made an immediate impact, setting up Nani for United’s first, and with a free-kick hitting the woodwork, he’s offering a real alternative to the Dutchman up top as we look to freshen up our Fantasy squads.

Going Down

United Defence
Once again, the Red Devils failed to keep out their opponents at the back. Sir Alex Ferguson’s side have conceded in all but one of their six fixtures so far – with trips to Newcastle and Chelsea in the next four, in addition to a home clash against Arsenal, sales of their defenders look likely to pick up.

Robin Van Persie
Normally, an assist isn’t too bad for a day’s work. The Dutchman has still managed to produce attacking returns in all of his starts this term but with the likes of Nikica Jelavic, Luis Suarez and Demba Ba all racking up the goals earlier today, and with Rooney now back for United, many may be tempted to look for alternatives to the 13.5 priced Dutchman.

Especially in GWs like this with so many player fails, it's good to remember the differentials you seek probably are in your team and all you've gotta do is not sell them!

Probably Boyce > Gibbs this week. Was gonna be Cazorla - we talked about this! - but you can understand my reticence.

    Hazard Michu Cazorla Guthrie Pienaar
    RVP Tevez Fletcher

    0.1 in bank. 1FT

Bit frustrated with Michu, Tevez and Hazard. I can sell Tevez for 9.5 now, if he drops my selling value drops to 9.4.

    A - Stick with Tevez
B - Get Suarez (shudders) for STO and REA
C - Get Ba in (replicating last years form b4 Xmas)
D - Get Jelavic in (Triple EVE)

To be honest, i'm not sure. Ba is against some stubborn defences in the next few, bar United. And Suarez faces Stoke next, arbeit at home, and after Reading his fixtures aren't too good. It's a tough choice. I'd be tempted to hang onto to Tevez actually and watch wht happens.

Up until GW17 (I know that is ages away) Newc only face Utd and Liv as tough games, plus it would block off some threat from mini league rivals if I get Ba. Plus he could go mental for a long time like last year.

Suarez fixtures are not too bad, weeks like this will be rare for him though. He could easily do nothing over next 2 games..

Obviously the fact Tevez is not getting full games is annoying

Depends on how long term you see Suarez, if you want to dump him after REA etc or keep. I dont want to hop on any later than I can help him like last year, evidence suggests he is hot no matter who against now. I think I have convinced myself it is him for the job if I sell Tevez

I did Hazard > Bale and luckily it paid off. I'd do Hazard > Silva GW8 if I were you. Nice solution to getting a piece of the City action.

Before Kompany was a defender they kept the most CS and didn't have a single defender near the top of the highest points for defenders.

Can see it being that way for attackers this season - everyone is a rotation headache and an outlet for creative and finishing returns. Only Yaya is Jesused and he's liable to play deep.

Well said. One of the reasons the 'cover' notion is rubbish.

They have an excellent squad and Mancini will use it.

About the mission for now unless you happy having Tevez. Personally I think Aguero will only play 1 or 2 more PL games than Tevez so I don't see the point in paying the extra for that.

He will outscore Tevez for sure IMO.

Not sure if it will make up for his price compared to Silva though.

      1. Cover is a completely flawed notion

      2. I think Aguero will be the highest scoring City player but Silva (and maybe Tevez) will come close when it comes to value.

Your team looks class as it is but I'd probably rid of Pienaar coz even though hes good its a bit overkill. Although if its a one week thing probs Ben Arfa for some Chelsea cover or something.

    my conclusions from watching MOTD

Suarez played well but it seems as a one off performance. Norwich were dreadful plus one goal deflected and another def mistake

Ba was dangerous, just needs a 1 chance to score. Yes he scored with his hand but looks dangerous and back to his old self

Fletcher - Playing for solid sunderland side who do not score many goals. He gets 1 chance and he scores but against bigger sides will struggle to keep this strike rate up.

My recommendation is to transfer RVP or Tevez to Ba this gw.

In my honest opinion, I can actually see Fletcher being even better against superior sides. A poacher is what you need when you're playing counter attack against big teams.
