Spurs win at Old Trafford for the first time since 1989 as Andre Villas-Boas’ side triumph in the game of the season so far. Gareth Bale is the main protagonist for the Londoners, as United’s defensive frailties are exposed yet again:

Going Up

Gareth Bale
In a Gameweek where many of the popular midfield picks failed to produce the goods, the Welshman continued his return to form with a goal and pair of assists at Old Trafford. With a home clash against Villa up next, Bale can expect to pick up plenty of interest over the next few days.

Jan Vertonghen
Having found his eye for goal in the midweek Capital One Cup win at Carlisle, Vertonghen notched his first league goal of the campaign as Andre Villas-Boas’ side won for the third Gameweek in a row. With (AVL, sot, WIG) amongst his next four fixtures, the potential for point looks good for the Belgian at both ends of the pitch.

Clint Dempsey
Picked ahead of Gylfi Sigurdsson for the role in “the hole”, the US international vindicated his manager’s decision with his first goal of the season. Dempsey – who has a mere 2% ownership in FPL – could be a real differential pick over the next few games, with a starting berth in the Spurs XI now seemingly assured.

Wayne Rooney
Sent on for Ryan Giggs after the break, Rooney was forced to take up a wider position, with Shinji Kagawa keeping the role behind Robin Van Persie. He made an immediate impact, setting up Nani for United’s first, and with a free-kick hitting the woodwork, he’s offering a real alternative to the Dutchman up top as we look to freshen up our Fantasy squads.

Going Down

United Defence
Once again, the Red Devils failed to keep out their opponents at the back. Sir Alex Ferguson’s side have conceded in all but one of their six fixtures so far – with trips to Newcastle and Chelsea in the next four, in addition to a home clash against Arsenal, sales of their defenders look likely to pick up.

Robin Van Persie
Normally, an assist isn’t too bad for a day’s work. The Dutchman has still managed to produce attacking returns in all of his starts this term but with the likes of Nikica Jelavic, Luis Suarez and Demba Ba all racking up the goals earlier today, and with Rooney now back for United, many may be tempted to look for alternatives to the 13.5 priced Dutchman.

Paul Is certain he won't make the same mistakes next season. Follow them on Twitter

    (a) Tevez -> Ba/Suarez (followed the following week by Haz -> Silva)
    (b) Hazard -> Bale
    (c) Both now
    (d) neither

    Cheers for your thoughts!

      The one I'd be most tempted to do would be Haz> Bale but people will tell you Haz has Norwich home next so therefore keep...Bale will rise a few though I'd imagine...moneymaker and a keeper probably.

          He didn't have the best of games but neither did the Arsenal team as a whole. He got into good scoring positions despite playing deep-ish. He also nearly had 2 assists. What you'd expect really. I expect he'll be a steady performer.

      Thanks mate, it was decent enough I think, still maintaining that 55 points average so I'm pleased. I'm on 327 with hopefully Fletch and Ba baps to come. I think I captained the wrong striker this week but can't complain as they all had attacking returns! Not too confident about next week but I think it might be a good idea to be conservative and I might save my 2FT for the int. break. Boring I know but I think there's too much uncertainty at the moment to be making knee-jerks every week.

    Thoughts on this team after a bad week..

    Foster Begovic
    Demel Davies Nelsen Baines Gibbs
    Hazard Michu Cazorla Guthrie Pienaar
    RVP Tevez Fletcher

    1FT, 0.1 in bank. Tevez lack of current minutes is worrying me a bit, plus I think Ba could be on a rampage like last year before Xmas. Obviously I would lose value with Tevez which could make it harder to get him back.

    1 - Tevez--->Ba (Hazard to Silva/Yaya or Bale GW8)
    2 - Tevez---> Jelavic (Hazard to Silva/Yaya or Bale GW8)
    3 - Tevez + Michu ---> Ba + Yaya OR Lambert + Bale/Silva (-4)
    4 - Save FT

      I'm in a similar spot but can't see the logic in waiting till GW8 for Bale (H - Cheslea)? If you want him surely this week is the one to do it? I would have thought that if either could wait a week it would have been Ba (H - Man U) so i probably prefer No.3 simply because of that. You get Bale quicker!

        I get your point but I dont see Ba facing Man U as a reason to wait really. He scored 3 vs Utd last year and is on hot form.

        I just think Michu and Hazard are perhaps worth keeping for one more week (granted they are off form..) or two instead of getting Bale

          Yeah i am keeping Michu as well for these 2 games and i don't have Hazard. I imagine that if i did then i'd probably be thinking much the same as you. Gotta be thinking that a home game against Norwich will get him some decent points.

          BUT i still think that this is the week to get Bale so perhaps it's worth a hit? I'm certainly considering taking one as Cazorla > Bale is the only way i can do it hit-free and i don't really want to lose Santi

            so you would rather take a -4 for Tevez + Hazard---> Ba + Bale

            or just a Hazard --->Bale and wait a week for Ba. The first option (Ba Bale in) could easily backfire or be what I need to kick start after 3 bad GWs

    How was Lambert in the game with Everton? Anyone watched?
    Is he still a good potential buy for Gw7?

    Whos the best 4.0m or below defender apart from Nelsen? They will be bench fodder each week as I play Baines / Vermaelen / Vertonghen each week but need to make 0.1m by selling Demel.

    What are people thoughts on RVP? He has scored ok but every time i have seen him (including the hatrick v Soton and liverpool) he has looked very average. Not good enough for a £13m player!

      I'm holding; Rooney's return will only enhance RVP's game. I see Fergie starting both of them next week.

      But Ba will destroy United. 🙂

      Keeping him. Rooney will provide him enough ammunition to fire. We saw that this gameweek when Rooney came on, just has to get his scoring boots back on.

      Rvp is poor value but will score consistently all yr. Added he is great capt choice most weeks so I'm holding for now......thinking of getting rid of tevez instead but will want Silva for city cover with their fixtures.....he looked back to his best

      The funny thing is I feel like all those people will feel vindicated for the match against Stoke next week. I can't see Liverpool scoring more than 1. If Suarez draws a blank the disses will get louder until Suarez bags two to five goals against Reading and shuts all the doubters up permanently.

    Just the way Di Matteo is playing HAzard is a joke. hes almost no service and is never on the wing to break inside. Cant see him doing much even vs Norwich.

    I got rid for HBA

    Cue 20 point hazard next week.

    But anyway thats my reasoning.
