634x258 The Stock Check

First half strikes from Matt Jarvis and Ricardo Vaz Te are enough to earn the Hammers a first away win and leave QPR adrift at the bottom of the table. Here’s the Stock Check from Monday’s Gameweek finale…

On the Up

Adel Taarabt
Back to fitness and back in favour, Taarabt found his way onto the R’s bench and entered the action to drag Mark Hughes’ side back into the game. His goal was sublime and unstoppable, his touch and creativity also eye-catching. If only he could cement a regular starting role, he’d be QPR’s one major Fantasy asset.

Andy Carroll
On the bench after recovering early from a hamstring injury, Carroll was introduced for Carlton Cole midway through the second half and, despite Cole’s work rate, the Geordie will surely replace him in the lineup when Arsenal pay visit this weekend. Kevin Nolan and company will be delighted. Arsene Wenger won’t be.

Ricardo Vaz Te
Those Fantasy managers searching for a budget option in attack could do well to consider the Portuguese striker who claimed his first goal of the season to accompany two assists so far. Yossi Benayoun will threaten his starting role but Vaz Te is doing enough to warrant his start right now.

Jussi Jaaskaleinen
Denied a clean sheet by Taarabt’s wonder strike, the Finnish stopper nonetheless impressed with a string of saves to offer a reminder as to his value in the budget keeper bracket.

Going Down

Winston Reid
Forced off in the first-half, the Kiwi defender suffered concussion and could therefore be a doubt for the weekend. West Ham have an able replacement in James Tomkins and Reid’s growing Fantasy ownership (12.5% in the FPL) will be monitoring news from the Hammers camp with interest. A clean sheet against the Gunners would seem unlikely but Tomkins will be looking to make a firm claim for a starting role if he’s given the opportunity.

Mark Noble
His performances are strong but his Fantasy returns are lacking. Noble’s reliance on set-pieces has yet to pay dividends and patience appears to be wearing thin. With the likes of Raheem Sterling offering a decent prospect in the budget bracket, Noble’s ownership continues to diminish.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

I can't get FISO to load and I can't find Michu on total FPL. Is he likely to fall this week?

He will probably fall latter in the week. It will be touch and go. Even so he isn't worth selling as the next two fixtures should bear fruit. I imagine they will be keen to get back into goal scoring ways after the previous 3 blanks as well.

HBA and Pienaar aren't the 'wrong players.' Defoe has a good fixture coming up so you can decide what to do with him after that.

Also, you should link your team.

HBA, Defoe and Piennar sound like decent options, would need to see the whole team for better advice really. Lambert has done great for me so far, but Ramirez or even Lallana could be decent differentials.

I'm in such a foul mood tonight... What's the point in having players of the calibre of Taarabt and Hoilett if you will start them on the bench at home against a newly promoted side, Hughes can do one. Warnock was sacked for less, Harry in maybe

The FPL site says "•Match data from the weekend is currently being re-checked. Automatic substitutions will be made once all data from the Gameweek, including the match between QPR v West Ham, has been confirmed as correct.
      Last updated: 01 Oct 15:20".
I think there were a few errors in the data originally entered for the earlier matches.
Presumably they will update this message when they completed their re-checking, and then do the autosubs.

Im hoping for the possibility of this in the future - if oscar gets consistent playing time and some form, he can really free up funds for my defense - but not willing to get out hazard just yet. At the end of the day, he will draw some pks, score some pks, and be in on chelseas goals with more guarantees of playing time. As bad as hes been lately, he is definitely captainable and can easily explode v norwich - Possibly one for the future though.

None, but to be honest, I will probably captain Aguero this week. Hazard with an outside chance. As far as worth the money, he's been involved in 7 out of Chelsea's 11 goals. He has scored well at home against every team, barring stoke where he was tired and only played 60 min. To me, its better value than Bale who consistently puts up against big teams, yet against weaker opposition at home(when you would like to captain him) he just gets by. That has been my problem with Bale for the last 2 seasons. Id rather have a player that consistently beats up the weaker teams at home as it makes them an easier captain choice.

Right I want to get Bale back in this week... but the only way I can do it for free is to swap with Michu, who - although he will definitely be out of my team after GW8 - has two brilliant fixtures coming up...

I'm definitely keeping Cazorla, so that's not an option...

The only other option I have is to swap with McClean and make another transfer for a 4pt hit, which I think will pay off...

Any thoughts on who that could be?

I am in exactly the same spot. Not selling Cazorla or Michu which means i have to take a hit and sell Fellaini or Maloney along with someone else to raise the cash. Looking at these options to get the money at the moment:

      a) Baines & Fellaini > G.Johnson/Cole (6.7m DEF) & Bale
      b) Rafael & Fellaini > Gallas/Williams (5.1m DEF) & Bale
      c) RVP & Fellaini > ANY forward & Bale
      d) Tevez & Fellaini > Ba (8.9m FOR) & Bale
      e) Tevez & Maloney > Lambert & Bale

I would consider selling RVP or Tevez, possibly for Ba.. will wait on CL games to find out how likely they are to be starting at the weekend etc...

For you, I like the look of E, though...

Why can I never sort my defence out? I made a few ridiculous choices at the start (doubling up on rotated city players... yey) and yet I can never bring myself to replace them.

I really need to ship Lescott, Clichy, Noble and if he plays midweek then Tevez. Should I just WC?

    Alternative routes for a hit:
    Lescott + Tevez -> RVP + Nelson
    Noble + Lescott -> Bale + Nelson

    (team should be linked)

I think the most useful thing about the wild card is to get rid of deadwood who often happen to be defenders and sub players you don't want. If you want to keep up with the form attacking players you will find that Noble and some of the aforementioned defenders will still be in your team come GW10 when it is possibly too late.

he consistently takes alot of shots and his conversion ratio can only get better (if many went in as opposed to hitting the post...). Last year was his first full season. I wouldnt prejudge him just yet, hes still one of the best players in the game and I think it will start translating into fantasy points sooner than later.

1FT, what would you do? Kinda feel like I should have Bale but I feel the same way about Hazard against Norwich. Saving a transfer is another option but surely it is better to get Bale sooner rather than later with the form he is in. Any other alternatives?

    Foster (Begovic)

    Baines, Gallas, Davies, (Clark, Demel)
    Hazard, Pienaar, Michu, Cazorla, Sterling
    RVP(c), Lambert, (Berbatov)

    A) Haz --> Bale
    B) Save transfer
    C) Other

I am keeping Hazard (I don't have Bale).

My plan was to save for a while but Hazards influence has dropped substantially since Mata and Oscar has come into the side. The writing is on the wall, no? The inverse seems true for Bale where he seems to be the main protagonist for the Spurs attack.

You have also Messi and CR7 so no need to tinker with captain picks.
There are some players I am not familiar with but looks quite strong overall.
Outside your team, I think ManU and Arsenal defenders can offer good value.

Potentially (and probably) more points this GW, and more money in the bank.
Wouldn't worry about leaving the extra money in your bank, it just means you have many options for your midfield next GW.

Also, did every one of your players start last GW? If not, might be worth replacing them for a 2 point hit?

                    All started.
Alan was subbed of after 45 mins, and Braga looked bad (purely based on the score), not to mention their fixtures will get worse now. That is why I would like to get rid of him.
Valencia's fixtures on the other hand are strong from GW2 onwards, and Feghouli has scored 3 goals in 6 La Liga games this season, so getting him in could potentially pay off.

Zlatan has scored in all except one games I reckon for PSG this season so he could still be a strong option even with the price tag, and Huntelaar is playing twice against Arsenal after this GW when I don't expect him to score that well.

Cheers for advice in any case.
Off to bed now for tonight. Night.

    McClean to Bale

And just play Clyne at home to Fulham, and wait on Sagna, who will hopefully be back after International break...

Still a rather unnecessarily risk imo. I do expect Sagna to come straight back into the team when he is fit (for me he is the best right back in the league) but it's so common for players to pick up little knocks and niggles when they've just come back from a long lay off

Top 5 Transferred Out: Tevez, Berbatov, Michu, RvP, Yaya
Top 5 Transferred In: Bale, Suarez, Ba, A.Cole, Gervinho

None is due for price change today at the time of writing. Anyway, A.Cole needs just 1k to trigger price rise. If you need him and don't get him yet, be warmed..

Day 2 of corporate training and I will miss price change time again.

Evening gents. I really want Bale, but it'd be a 4 point hit unless I dumped Michu or Cazorla, which I won't.
Hoping Tevez gets a rest in CL.
So, I'm looking at no transfer and 2 FTs for the int. break....right move?

Baines (wig), Davies (RDG), Boyce (EVE) (Demel, Gunter)

We have very similar teams RCA and i can't see myself going into GW7 without Bale. I'll likely be taking a hit and swapping Fellaini/Maloney. Not sure yet how i'll raise the cash but it will probably be by selling RVP or Tevez

Thanks SD. My thoughts are using 1 FT...I can't see anything worthwhile.

Or....Tevez to Lambert and Guthrie to Bale (I have 3.0 in bank forgot to mention). For a 4 point hit....really tempting, and will prob do it if Tevez starts Vs Dortmund.

Forgot to mention, I'm thinking about the same transfers RCA. I've already done Yaya to Bale, and if Tevez starts, I'm shipping him out surely, don't know if its gonna be Suarez or Lambert. What do you recon anyway? Lambert would give me an option to get Silva for Michu in GW8.

Bale in is a good move.
My obvious bias would say Suarez over Lambert but if getting Lambert in allows you to get Silva for Michu after GW8 I would go that way.
Maybe Silva is the golden route to City attacking points during their sweet fixtures and avoids the forwards rotation headache,

You'll be having 2 City strikers who'd both be rotation risks, not saying that RVP isn't a rotation risk, but looks to be nailed on, Fergie would be looking to unleash Rooney-RVP soon in the Premier League I reckon. Aguero might get rotated for CL games, I'm not too sure on both of them.
You can try Tevez to Aguero if you really want him that bad if you have the funds.

If Tevez starts in midweek i'd swap him for Suarez in your position.

Talk of Tevez being rotated 'regardless in the future' is of little relevance imo. It's next weekend you want to worry about. If he starts against Sunderland he is nailed on to bite you in the ass. And i doubt you'll be sitting there happy thinking ' Tevez will be rotated regardless in the future'

I heard he was left out of the ARG squad so i don't think so. Of course that doesn't mean anything with Tevez. He could still piss off to Argentina for a week or so and come back out of shape. I'm sure Mancini will be keen to avoid that again!
