The Dugout Discussion opens for an action-packed Sunday offering of Premier League action. There’s four games this afternoon, so that’s at least 88 players in action and looking to earn their fantasy managers some much needed points. We start at St. Mary’s where league new-boys Southampton welcome the visit of Martin Jol’s Fulham. The team news is in, and the sides line-up as follows…

Southampton XI: Gazzaniga, Richardson, Yoshida, Fonte, Fox, Puncheon, Schneiderlin, Steven Davis, Lallana, Rodriguez, Lambert.

Fulham XI: Schwarzer, Riether, Hughes, Hangeland, Riise, Kacaniklic, Ruiz, Baird, Sidwell, Duff, Rodallega.

Dead legs keep both Gaston Ramirez and Nathaniel Clyne out of the side, as Southampton make three changes to benefit Daniel Fox, Jason Puncheon and Morgan Shneirderlin.

The visitors are once again without their big summer signing, Dimitar Berbatov, who has failed to recovery from a hip injury that saw him sit out last week’s game. Also missing out is Mladen Petric – a calf problem prevents him from playing today.

After the clash at St. Mary’ is settled, we’re up at the opposite end of the country to see if Newcastle United can produce a repeat performance of last’s season home game against Manchester United.

In and amongst those two games, the rest of the Europa League contingent – Liverpool and Tottenham – have home ties kicking-off at 3pm. Stoke make the trip to Anfield, whilst Aston Villa are in the capital to face Andre Villas Boas’ side.

Keep up-to-date with all of today’s goings on in our Dugout Discussion chatroom, which is open and can be accessed right here.

For the people saying that selling RVP is foolish, he's unstoppable etc. can I ask what is your opinion on Torres as a prospect? With such a vast difference in price Torres has gotten one more assist and VP has gotten one more goal. Do you expect RVP to vastly outscore Torres over the season?

Torres has hazard, mata, oscar... behind him and is nailed on for 90mins. Torres is the right successor to Drogba, Torres will outscore RVP

Graham has michu, routledge, dyer.. almost nailed on for 90 mins. Don't understand this hype about average strikers like suarez and torres suddenly become shearer-class after scoring against norwich

Had Torres from the start. Suarez I agree is over hyped but Torres has always been a very good striker, had a stinker last season but the support really didn't suit him much. Don't think you can compare Michu, Routledge and Dyer to Mata, Hazard and Oscar.

            Swansea: 45 + 38 + 32 = 115
            Chelsea: 49 + 35 + 7 = 91

Good support is not a valid argument for a striker's fpl-quality.

Torres has played an extra GW - 131 more minutes than RVP to be exact. And RVP is a safe captain choice pretty much every week. Torres is not.

Torres also missed a GW. But that's part of my argument, Torres gets more game time than VP as of now as he is the lone striker for Chelsea.

SAF loves him, because Valencia is a proper old school winger,
Has good crosses and can also help his full back defensively,
He is also very strong and consistent,

I think they're both pretty decent moves.

The Tevez one is a bit sideways, I think they'll score similarly over time so you're not really improving your team and City have some good fixtures.

I did Tevez to Suarez last week so got Suarez's Norwich goals and I'm happy, but if I had Tevez now, I don't think I'd make the sub after missing out on Norwich and Stoke (after the Reading game he has eve, NEW, che, WIG - so perhaps wait til after Chelsea to get him in)

Not expecting a great GW8, 4 players at home:
      Jaaskelainen
      Demel
      Bale
      Suarez

So this week was supposed to make up for it and only got 52 points pre-bonus.

The way my team is set up with the home/away I sort of need bigger scores when everyone is at home (even if the average is lower this GW).

Which transfer to do this week..

      Gervinho > Cazorla

      Or

      Tevez > Aguero

The player I keep will be staying for a few weeks.

The former. With Walcott knocking I don't think Gervinho is 100% to start any more. Whereas I think Tevez will keep starting because City are so much better with him on the pitch. Season-long and if you can afford it though, they both look good.

          hehe fair point.

I want to be a design engineer/structural engineer so this is relevant to me. I would suggest that adding a touch of monotone colour to your cv would help it, shows you have a wide range of skills.

          No it wasn't

          Clark - away to Spurs
Fonte - home to a Berbatov and possibly Petric'less Fulham

          No brainer.

I chose Clark over Fonte due to Clark's bigger goal threat. I knew both Villa and Southampton were going to concede. It was just a matter of which in terms of goal threat.

Clark's scores suggest only playing him at home.

I can see your reasoning, but I think it was flawed.

How are head to heads decided if there is a draw. We bot have 46. BP differential will come down to Baines vs Podolski (c). I can see 2 for Baines and 1 for Podolski.

Chelsea's fixtures are incredibly tough from here. I'd say no Chelsea players is the way to go for a few weeks. especially not to waste points transferring them in, if you don't have any already.
