There’s nothing more satisfying for a Fantasy manager than anticipating a bandwagon before the masses make their move. While Demba Ba’s goals capture the headlines and Fantasy suitors, and Papiss Cisse looks shorn of the confidence that made him such a lethal acquisition in the latter part of last season, Hatem Ben Arfa has provided a steady source of points for his Fantasy owners thus far:

The Frenchman’s brilliant form towards the tail end of 2011/12 hinted at his potential. Having finally convinced Alan Pardew of his worth to the Newcastle first XI, Ben Arfa’s displays on the right of a 4-3-3 saw a surge in ownership, with expectations high going into the new campaign. While Pardew’s return to a 4-4-2 has clearly brought the best out of Ba, Ben Arfa’s contribution – particularly at home – cannot be overlooked.

So far, Ben Arfa has had a hand in three of the four goals Newcastle have scored in front of their own fans. More encouragingly, his returns have been produced over three of their four matches in front of the Toon Army – goals against Spurs and Villa was followed by a crucial assist in the 1-0 win over Norwich in Gameweek 5, highlighting his consistency, rather than one big performance followed by a few blanks. United may have nullified his threat last time round but so far Ben Arfa has produced 29 points over his four home games in Fantasy Premier League (FPL) – with seven bonus points also accrued, that equates to an average of over seven points per home clash.

Away from St James’ Park, he’s been a disappointment. Trips to Chelsea and Everton perhaps understandably failed to produce any returns but a Gameweek 6 visit to Reading was a real let down for Ben Arfa’s owners, with Ba’s Madejski brace taking the plaudits instead. To a degree, this has allowed Ben Arfa to stay out of the limelight – 21,000 FPL managers shipped him out before the United game, while nearly 14,000 have ditched the Frenchman’s services prior to this weekend’s Tyne-Wear derby at the Stadium of Light. What better way to banish his away day blues, however, than to get one over Sunderland this coming Sunday afternoon?

After the Black Cats showdown, Newcastle look primed for investment. The subsequent seven Gameweeks afford Pardew’s men the perfect opportunity to rack up the points and with four potentially prosperous home games (WBA, WHM, SWA, WIG) in addition to a trip to Southampton, Ben Arfa – currently priced at 7.9 in FPL and a mere 6.2 in the Sky Sports game –looks well positioned to be a major Fantasy asset over the next few fixtures as the Magpies look to put the United defeat behind them.

Paul Is certain he won't make the same mistakes next season. Follow them on Twitter

Someone convince me to keep aguero. Keep looking at man city's fixtures and there's always an easy prem game around a tough CL game. Can see him being rested for the easy games.

City's run of fixtures is so tasty, you know there will be attacking points. The though part is picking the right player, especially in light of Silva's injury.

I am in the same boat as you with regards to Tevez.

I was throwing up the team I thought would be preferable to what's being played at the moment yeah. But that doesn't necessarily mean I want a new manager to come in as I'm not sure we'd see a massive change anyway to the quality of our play. Austria look poor, I think we can take them. It might be controversial not to want Trap out but I think he's a good coach and we're a very average team trying to do our best...and our best is clearly nowhere near competing with Germany right now as much as people would love to think so.

I'm happy enough that Trap stays on, it's hardly his fault we're so inferior to the giants of world football like Spain, Italy and Germany. Sure his teamsheets have been puzzling but I'd hate to see a knee-jerk to get someone mediocre in, god forbid the return of Mick McCarthy!

McCarthy took the country a long way, ruined by the selfish antics of Roy Keane. Ireland struggle to beat minnows, whatever about giants, he is taking the Irish game swiftly the wrong direction. I don't expect them to deliver miracles, however under raps, they are playing way below their potential, and it will only get worse.

Would it be madness to rotate Morrison (WBA) and Walters from GW10?

I don't really fancy Stoke away and Morrison has difficult fixtures.

Would mean benching a 6+m player every week mind you and is not a perfect rotation.

Would give me a midfield of Morrison, Walters, Cazorla, Bale, Pienaar

Don't mean to be confrontational here... I think that table is useless.

Unless we're talking about comparing him with players in his price category for important stats that correlate with goals and assists )e.g. shots on target, shots inside the box, created chances) then it's pointless. The selection of players seems random.

Ok evening all, don't often ask but could do with some advice
    Current team is: jaaskalainen, cerny,
    Demel, clyne, verm, Lescott, Rangel,
    Fellaini, hazard, michu, dembele, Ramirez,
    RVP, Jelavic, fletcher
So Demel, Clyne, Ramirez and Fellini are flagged, cerny never plays, Verm isn't scoring, Lescott isn't playing and Dembele is good but isn't forward enough. Let alone Hazard isn't proving to be worth over 10 million. So I'm thinking wild card as I've been dropping down my league quickly over last 3 weeks

First question I suppose is does anyone think this is madness and I should stick and say with just a hit rustle together an ok team, thus saving the wc?

Here is my proposed wc team:jaaskalainen, McCarthy
    Fonte, Baines, Johnson, Rafael, Hughes
    Cazorla, Sterling, Walters, Pienaar, Gervinho
    RVP, Fletcher, Ba
    No money left.

One debate is a) pienaar, ba or b) Ben arfa, Jelavic
Another is having two expensive defenders in Baines and Johnson stops me for having say Mata instead of Walters.
Double arsenal coverage is hedge bets thing for 2 weeks only, trying to make the most for the long term but also this game week when not many will have played their wild cards in my league.
Will be shipping out Johnson next week for Chelsea coverage.
    Any advice is gratefully received
    Thanks in advance

    Team

GK: Begovic/Jussi - not going to get better than that for rotation+value

    Def:
Baines - the best there is
Gibbs - one of the most creative defenders with crosses giroud will come good, great fixtures
Staylor/Cuellar - perfect fixture rotation for the last spot
Demel - benchwarmer who could be replaced for a Clark or a cheaper alternative

    Mid:
Santi - most creative mid and goalscoring threat, great fixtures, captain choice - must have
Bale - similar to Santi but not as good, and welsh, and looks like a chimp
Fellaini - massive goal threat, injured, doubts over position miralles looks great could steal his place
Barfa - great fixtures, creative and goal threat
Sterling - rotates with Lambert, cheap

    Fwd:
Berb - creative and goal threat, bonus magnet
RVP - due 30 goals this season for Utd, expensive. captain option
Lambert - rotates with Sterling, good fixtures

Got 2.6 in the bank, had wanted to bring in Silva, but will hold off for now.
I dont see a weak link in the team, apart from the injured Fellaini.
Will do fellaini to silva, when appropriate.

Ba is still playing out on the left wing with Cisse playing central. Every goal he has scored this season has been with him playing there in a 4-4-3.

Odd how last season he couldn't get a goal whilst playing out there and this season he can't stop. Maybe a confidence issue?

Suarez's involvement is so great, once he brings his shooting boots to a match, he gets a hat-trick. However, he usually leaves them at home. This was the point i trying to make about Boyce, one single good game, or a nice run of form could return a nice pile of shiny points.
