A fine Norwich performance has Arsenal slip to defeat at Carrow Road to deliver a hugely frustrating end to Saturday’s Gameweek 8 action. Here’s part two of today’s Stock Check…

On the Up

The Norwich Defence
Budget back fours continue to attract interest as expensive options fail to produce shut-outs and are forced to fall back on attacking returns. Chris Hughton’s side had showed promise following their opening day drubbing and demonstrated this again tonight with a gritty display. Their fixtures could be worse and the likes of John Ruddy may now earn some attention.

Grant Holt
A third consecutive goal for last season’s leading scorer at Carrow Road. Holt, at last, looks to have cemented his start in Hughton’s lineup and could yet offer some value as a budget striker option this term.

Going Down

The Arsenal Defence
Having started the season so strongly, with three consecutive clean sheets, the Gunners’ backline has failed to keep a shut-out since Gameweek 3. Over 50% of the Fantasy Premier League player base owns an Arsenal defender, with Carl Jenkinson the most popular option, but confidence in Wenger’s rearguard is diminishing by the week.

Vito Mannone
Any claims that Mannone had to the Arsenal number one jersey surely suffered irreparable damage this evening with a shaky performance and the error for the Norwich goal. Wojciech Szczesny may well be several weeks from fitness but he will surely be restored to the lineup once fit.

Santi Cazorla
The Spaniard failed to spark the Gunners this time, falling victim to bitterly disappointing performance from Wenger’s side which showed little in terms of goal threat. The recent clamour for Cazorla will see plenty frustrated this evening but the Gunners do at least have three home games in four to come in which the playmaker will be backed for profit.

Gervinho
Deployed on the flank once again, Gervinho epitomised Arsenal’s showing with ineffective display. His owners will now hope for a shift back to a central attacking role for Arsenal’s forthcoming fixtures but at least the injury suffered to Alex Oxlade Chamberlain could strengthen the Ivorian’s chances of retaining his starting role.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Is Walters your best bet for points in the Stoke Mid....or is Adam worth a punt?

Why do you even want a stoke mid? Surely their defence is the best place to invest.

Nope, the stats still back RVP to do well tho.

His underlying stats also suggest he is a better option.
Hazard, outside the Norwich game, has created something like 2 chances and had 2 shots in the last 4 weeks.

I was going to ditch Michu like the rest of you, but as he's become a striker why not just keep him on the bench for a few weeks and save me the transfer.

Instead I look at Dzeko - you will all say that he is a rotation threat, but to be fair so is all of the other city strikers and Dzeko has an ability to score even when he doesn't start. Goals compared to gametime is insane, and he is super cheap. Silly move?

I would do hazard -->mata. I don't know if you saw the Chelsea game but he often looked like the most advanced player on the pitch bar Fernando. I had got him prior to the match but my main apprehension was that he was going to back deep but honestly after this type of performance we know its not going to happen.

Cazorla has the highest ICT index of both teams during yesterday's loss at Norwich. Also, his average playing position is higher during home games. He will get returns soon...

Who would you play next GW?

Ivan vs ManU, Cuellar Vs Stoke or Clyne vs Tot

actually strike off clyne.. he isn't even considered.

The thing is if I decide Cuellar then i may actually decide to trf ivan out to Wilson to free up some much needed funds... and play Wilson instead.

Hmmmm... Michu. I had planned to get rid of you for Ben Arfa this week but maybe Guthrie--->Sterling would be better (with Ba for Newcastle's juicy fixtures).

For what it is worth after the next two weeks the Michu/Sterling combined fixtures would SEEM to be pretty decent:

    Guthrie > Wilshere for free??

    Assuming that he's gonna start.
Want a replacement for Guthrie with 3.3 in the bank.

Already have HBA Michu Sterling and Bale.

If he's assured a start, I'm sure he's gonna be hot property.
Would be a great substitute for people like me who don't have Santi.
        So not that bad.
Not convinced by Morrison and Nolan has relatively tough fixtures after the next one(I'm guessing!).

Firstly thats a wrong assumption, he's a 19 year old kid whose not played in a year and secondly he's not FPL material just see his old stats to see that - 4 assists and 1 goal in around 4000 minutes. I'm not saying he's not a good player, he might not be one for sometime after he's back (like Ramsey after injury) and nevertheless he's not a fpl pick

Plus the fact that he isn't an FPL type player.

Pienaar averages something like 5.8 ppg since joining Everton last season..over 20 games. If he can do that over the season he'll get 200+, and even if he doesn't he should be pushing 170 at least.
