Javier Hernandez is the hero for United after climbing off the bench to turn the game around at Villa Park. The Mexican’s double and assist earned the visitors a stunning 3-2 victory, while Andreas Weimann also bagged a brace for the beaten hosts:

On the Up

Javier Hernandez
Sent on as a sub after half-time, his introduction proved the difference for Sir Alex Ferguson’s side. Hernandez produced two goals and assist as United came from two down – Ron Vlaar was credited with an own goal for the second, after the Mexican’s strike was deemed to be off target before a deflection helped it into the Villa net.

Andreas Weimann
A peripheral figure in the Villa set-up of late, the Austrian was handed his first start since Gameweek 4 this evening. Weimann notched both Villa’s goals and has surely staked a claim for a regular role, bearing in mind that the hosts had previously scored more than a single goal just once in their opening 10 matches.

Christian Benteke
Having supplied attacking returns in each of his previous two, the Belgian maintained his strong recent form with an assist for Weimann’s opener. The skill and strength displayed in bettering Chris Smalling and composure to set up the Austrian, allied with his current form, has more than vindicated Paul Lambert’s decision to start Benteke over Darren Bent.

Going Down

United Defence
Once again, United’s backline failed to keep out their opponents. Villa had scored just twice in their four league matches prior to this evening but Weimann’s strike just before the break means United have now trailed in seven of their 11 league matches – as this evening’s game showed, grinding out results is simply not an option for Sir Alex Ferguson’s side.

Ashley Young
He’d played 90 minutes in the previous wins over Chelsea and Arsenal but an insipid first-half display against his former club saw the winger subbed off for Hernandez at the break. With a single assist to his name this term, Young is showing little to suggest he deserves a regular role for the league leaders.

Just got 'im, totally against my better judgement. Normally never do early transfers, especially before matches are finished.

But my take on this one is that he will rise 0.3 this week and if his form continues he'll be in the 8.0 bracket not before long.

Those who got him at 7.0 have done well (points & price), I'm happy to come in at the middle.

Mind you if he doesn't perform and/or gets a yellow, it's not like I've lost a big hitter for him.

          Did Pienaar to Fellaini....

    Foster (sun)
Baines (NOR), Cuellar (WBA), Cameron (FUL)
Bale (WHU), Mata (MCI), Fellaini (NOR), Pienaar (NOR)

Clyne to a more defensively stable team?

I'd perhaps wait on this, or downgrade to Tevez, as City will soon be 'complete' with Yaya + Silva + Tevez/Aguero, and little rotation as they are pretty much out of CL, and will start banging them in I bet.

I have the same front line. I also have Baines, and have thus not gone for Everton overload by drafting in Fellaini yet.

With those two fixtures I may stick myself, and play him as a 'differential'. He just scored a goal, so should have the confidence to score some more if he gets the chances, and Fellaini may get suspended for a match, so Moyes may focus his tactics more on Jelly for a match if that happens.

He's been a logical pick past few weeks I feel, just been unlucky in previous gameweeks.

So Cazorla might be on pens after Arteta missed one. There is a possibility as Wenger stated it. Interesting if he does start taking them as his value would be a good degree higher in that case.

On another note, I'm struggling with the Gorkss 'Never Captain, never bench' theory. It's getting harder to resist captaining him most weeks. 😀

Yeah, no chance he will drop Arteta on penalties for me. He took them at Everton and was good enough, and is experienced enough not to lose confidence after missing just one. Only a silly manager would relegate Arteta so soon. Saying that, I believe Rooney will carry on being United's number 1 penalty taker too.

There's a slight chance it will backfire over the next 2 weeks if Fellaini gets carded and Pienaar does something but long term it looks a great move.

I've ended up with the 3 of em man after making transfers tonight. Maybe overkill in the long run but certainly not short term as the options are there to switch anyone of them.

I've had Caz al season and have finally run out of patience. Yes, he's classy, yes he will have the odd decent points hall but the key is, when Arsenal score big, he doesn't necessarily. In my opinion, for that price, a player has to reflect his team's point haul.

keep Tevez to preserve the shape of your squad. Unless you had a heavy front line already, I wouldn't want 2 forwards who are under 8.5m. If you do have a heavy front line, then the transfer is only justified if you have a clear sense of what to do with the cash. As a straightforward comparison, I think they'll score similarly, so it doesn't make sense to waste a transfer if its not for a good reason
