Javier Hernandez is the hero for United after climbing off the bench to turn the game around at Villa Park. The Mexican’s double and assist earned the visitors a stunning 3-2 victory, while Andreas Weimann also bagged a brace for the beaten hosts:

On the Up

Javier Hernandez
Sent on as a sub after half-time, his introduction proved the difference for Sir Alex Ferguson’s side. Hernandez produced two goals and assist as United came from two down – Ron Vlaar was credited with an own goal for the second, after the Mexican’s strike was deemed to be off target before a deflection helped it into the Villa net.

Andreas Weimann
A peripheral figure in the Villa set-up of late, the Austrian was handed his first start since Gameweek 4 this evening. Weimann notched both Villa’s goals and has surely staked a claim for a regular role, bearing in mind that the hosts had previously scored more than a single goal just once in their opening 10 matches.

Christian Benteke
Having supplied attacking returns in each of his previous two, the Belgian maintained his strong recent form with an assist for Weimann’s opener. The skill and strength displayed in bettering Chris Smalling and composure to set up the Austrian, allied with his current form, has more than vindicated Paul Lambert’s decision to start Benteke over Darren Bent.

Going Down

United Defence
Once again, United’s backline failed to keep out their opponents. Villa had scored just twice in their four league matches prior to this evening but Weimann’s strike just before the break means United have now trailed in seven of their 11 league matches – as this evening’s game showed, grinding out results is simply not an option for Sir Alex Ferguson’s side.

Ashley Young
He’d played 90 minutes in the previous wins over Chelsea and Arsenal but an insipid first-half display against his former club saw the winger subbed off for Hernandez at the break. With a single assist to his name this term, Young is showing little to suggest he deserves a regular role for the league leaders.

Probably the numbers...1 clean sheet in 14 competitive games, and that was vs 10man QPR...to be fair its been blindingly obvious that they are a defensive shambles, the early season clean sheets just papered over the cracks imo.

So stop trusting the stats and believe what your eyes tell you. United should've scored 5 past them last week - their defence is poor.

Giroud tends to be good at Headers so most of his assisters will come from out wide. Arteta and Wilshirt tend to get forward a bit at times as well so the ball doesn't always go through Cazorla. I think Caz is struggling to make breaks in the final third a bit.

for the first time in a while, i have no transfers i'm dead set on making. i'm looking at trading kightly, but i only have 5.5 to spend on a mid. was thinking maloney. i also was thinking about trading foster to a 4.0 keeper as i'll be playing begovic most of the time, so i can have even more to spend on a midfielder. currently, my team looks like this:

    begovic, foster
    baines, ivan, rafa, nelsen, davies
    bale, mata, fellaini, sterling, kightly
    rvp, tevez, berba

i was also thinking about tevez -> ba to free up even more money, but i guess i'll see how they do tmrw

Not sure its worth selling Foster. You'll need him from GW15-18 bar 1 fixture. I think Kightly has to go and Maloney is the best prospect really. Good rotation with Sterling.

2 free transfers and not a clue!

    Begovic
    Baines Cameron Saylor
    Bale Cazorla Barfa Pienaar
    RVP Ba Berba

    Foster Gallas Gunter Guthrie

All my starting 11 have nice fixtures so don't want rid, only concern for the week is double Stoke.

    Thoughts on

    Foster > De Gea
    Gallas > Cuellar

Utd will surely improve in defence with their fixtures, wouldn't play Foster much now anyhow and don't have to double up with Stoke who I will be playing Berbs and Ba against in recent weeks, can afford De Gea to be dropped with Beg as back up but am I wasting my money here?

Any other ideas including losing Guthrie preferably?

How about Ba then > one of the other two GW15 or 16, hopefully Suarez would have picked up a yellow by then

Just brought in Jelavic before this GW, sticking with him for next 2 then swapping to Suarez.

    Problem is no Berba

    Foster, Tremmel
    Baines, Gallas, Hughes, Saylor, Demel
    Hazard, Bale, Fellaini, Sterling, McAnuff
    RVP, Jelavic, Ba

0FT, already did Pienaar-->Fellatio before price rise.

RVP and Sterling to Berba and Mata is looking better by the second. Honestly, only really waiting for the Chelsea game to be played as to ensure Mata isn't injured before pulling this trigger, to hell with United's 'fixtures'.

I say Berba matches him point for point over that stretch and Mata puts up significantly more than Sterling.

no I wouldn't have. Actually, if I didn't have RVP. I would have captain Fellaini like I should have!

Also Aqua, with pens in Berba's locker and him looking back to his elite from why can't he keep pace with RVP right now tell me… his last 5 matches look pretty darn good to me. I don't see much of a dip at all...

Robin van Persie created 6 chances (including
1 assist) in the game - as much as the
      whole Villa side.

      Possibly 1.

If I was a knee jerker then these would be my moves this week for an eight point hit

Ivanovic to Shorey (need the funds)
    McAnuff to Fellaini
    Lambert to Berba

    Thoughts?

I may hold off on Lambert to Berba and just take a 4 point hit.. Bit gutted as only just transferred McAnuff and it feels like a bit of a waste.
